Somerset with a small lead. Superb bowling by Steve Maggofin. Seems a very tough pitch to bat on.

5 wickets in 0 runs even...
Alfie took 4 in 4 and Tregs took one in a maiden over in between. From 33-0 to 33-5 in 10 balls

Big defeat. Think staying up is the aim now.

Another defeat. Probably ends the t20 campaign.
Signed James Tredwell on loan from Kent for a month though.

Tredwell got his wish granted - more opportunities to bowl - as he sent down 59 overs in the Yorks innings at Arundel. Attractive ground - but seems to have a deadly dull pitch.

Sussex giving me a birthday present and actually winning a match on Friday night.
Started today of well. Lewis Hatchet making the most of a run in the side with an impressive bowling display.

Defeat at Durham this week. Need to do a lot to stay up in DIV 1.
Need to beat Middlesex tomorrow night, to keep our hopes in the t20 competition alive.

Nick - I hope you don't mind my asking but what's gone wrong at Sussex recently ? At the start of the a season I thought you looked a decent bet for the Championship and you made a bright start in the T20 but it seems to have gone a bit downhill lately. Hopefully things will start to pick up soon.

Re: The Official Sussex County Cricket Club Thread
Beehive, I would guess one factor is the contrasting fortunes of two ex Surrey men. Sir Chris Jordan had been playing extremely well but was of course nabbed to play for England. On the other hand RHB has played a fair bit recently in the Sussex first team, but is only averaging about 20 in first class cricket this season.
And then, not forgetting two other ex Surrey men, Anyon is not having a particularly good season, and Jon Lewis - while still doing better than I had expected - has started to tail off a bit. In line with Guildford's sagacious predictions.
Finally, one other ex Surrey man, McMuffin, is still bowling really well - but support for him in the bowling line up has been a bit patchy.
Of course not everything revolves around the fortunes of ex Surrey players....

Beehive / Corporal - in addition to the Corporal's prudent prognosis , one type of player which we haven't donated to Sussex and which they've probably been missing over the last month or so (before the recent loan signing of Tredwell) is a proven spin bowler.

Big win against Northamptonshire keeps our survival chances very much alive. Steve Maggoffin showing he is one of the best if not the best bowler in county cricket.
Kent tomorrow night in the T20. Think its too little too late though tbh.

Nick - this was the match in which ''Sir'' Chris Jordan made his CC debut for Sussex at the start of the 2013 season. He took a fivefer in the first innings and never looked back. As I pointed out to you at the time, I was a bit surprised by your selection of Andrew Miller ahead of Jordan.
