There won't be wholesale changes so it wont be too desimilar to the current team
1) Strauss (c)
2) Davies/Kieswetter (w)
3) Pietersen
4) Hildreth
5) Morgan
6) Bell
7) Woakes
8) Bresnan
9) Broad
10) Swann
11) Tremlett/Anderson/Finn
thats what i expect the side to roughly be, there's enough bowling in there to not need Collingwood so an out and out batsman ca be picked, Hildreth is probably a bit of bias however he is the selectors sights by being given the lions captaincy over the winter and i think he will be the one to come in. Kieswetter is in good form atm which is why its between him and Davies.

Re: england one day side
Rashid was dreadful yesterday and with SL and India being destroys of spinners, I doubt ECB would want to destroy Rashid's confidence.
1. Strauss (c)
2. KP
3. Trott
4. Bell
5. Morgan
6. Bopara
7. Buttler (w/k) (Most exciting young player in domestic cricket.
8. Broad
9. Swann
10. Woakes
11. Anderson/Bresnan/Tremlett/Shahzad (All 4 are hardly overly threatening in ODI cricket and an emerging left armer would pip all 4 in my team)

Re: england one day side
sonic_boom10 - your saying Hildreth is no where good enough for test cricket, yet Jos Buttler should be in the one day team!
He only had his debut for Somerset last season so he hasn't played one full season of county cricket, he needs another season or 2 i would say incase he gets found out at county level first before international. To add to this as well, he doesn't even keep wicket for Somerset!! Kieswetter does when he and Buttler play in the same team so he isn't getting that much game time with the gloves.

If you've ever seen Buttler play, he amazing. He could develop into an awesome finisher.
Whether he's played 1 game or 100 games, the boy has serious talent.
That's the one thing that really annoys me. Buttler should have the gloves over Kieswetter

Re: england one day side
erm yes i have seen Buttler play, i'm a Somerset fan and i don't reckon he has enough experience yet for international cricket, the guy is 20 why rush him into the one day team?
The reason Kieswetter has the gloves over Buttler is because he is the better glovesman

I think an average of 65 and a s/r off 150 odd is pretty impressive and merits selection.
With regards to Kieswetter or Buttler with the gloves, it's nip and tuck.

Re: england one day side
but you have to take into account teams not having seen alot of him due to not even having had a year in the 1st team, England will want to know if he gets found out before he gets selected, and of course there is the road of taunton he gets
Experience plays it's part with keeping in the side I reckon and Buttler also appears to be a more than capable outfielder for the team. Kieswetter's skills there are unknown to me but maybe not as good as Buttler in the outfield as well as being a bit better than him with the gloves.

Re: england one day side
If Buttler has an eye catching season, giving him a couple of games vs India would be nice.hodge wrote:but you have to take into account teams not having seen alot of him due to not even having had a year in the 1st team, England will want to know if he gets found out before he gets selected, and of course there is the road of taunton he gets

In fairness if the ego is unfit, I'd go with both.

01 Cook
02 Kieswetter or Davies
03 Trott
04 Bell or Pietersen
05 Taylor
06 Morgan
07 Patel, if fit, or Rashid
08 Woakes or Shahzad
09 Bresnan
10 Swann
11 Broad
Don't mind out of Kieswetter and Davies. Davies is the better all-round player in my opinion, but Kieswetter had a fantastic Lions tour and has carried that form into domestic cricket.
We have to get Taylor in there. Some think that he is too young for Test cricket, but he has to be in the ODI side. His List A record is fantastic - averages over 50 (very rare) and a SR over 80.
To introduce Taylor, one of Bell and Pietersen will need to make way. Pieterson's form in ODIs is horrific, so he should probably drop out.
The issue of the second spinner is still hanging over this team. We can't continue with Yardy, for multiple reasons. Patel is talented but unfit, but has apparently improved. If he has improved enough, then get him in the team. If not, then we might have to gamble on Rashid or another youngster.
Thing is, the second spinner needs to bat well ideally, because as good a bat as Woakes is, he bats at 8 for Warwickshire, sometimes at 9 in List A, not 7.
