Simple six nations assessment Empty Simple six nations assessment

Post by t1000advancedprototype Sun Mar 10, 2013 5:48 am

Sum up the teams this year in either one word or a few words.

England: Better than 2012
Wales: Not as good as 2012
Scotland: Always the same
Ireland: Awful
Italy: Awful
France: Even worse.

Overall the quality has been diabolical with exception to England.

I wouldn't agree with Italy
They have been more competitive even if the score hasn't.

Also Ireland are better then last year as the were poor last year. This year they are no worse

England: Average, about the same as last year
Wales: About the same as last year, but started horrifically against Ireland, had injuries
Ireland: Terrible
Scotland: Bipolar
Italy: About the same as they were
France: Terrible

I don't think England have improved much since last year, a bit difficult to judge just how good they are because everyone else is playing below par. They are living off the reputation of beating the All Blacks

And your happy to write off 2 teams of a 5 games tournament? I wonder where the English arrogance stereotype comes from Cyzil?

That was the year we played Scotland and Italy as underdogs with half the team new, a new coaching team, and 3 caps between the squad? Yeah right.

Quite happy to do that, yep. I've seen the evidence with my own eyes. Anyway, it's confidence, no arrogance. Could you spell my name right please. Is that Welsh laziness? Very Happy

Based on the comments here, looks like a GS this year is not going to be of much value, if achieved that is!

Compared to last year:

Eng> have improved slightly, in terms of teamwork and discipline at least
Wal> dropped off slightly, done well to recover from a shaky start with 3 away wins
Ire> dropped off slightly, seem to lack belief. Need fresh faces in the coaching and playing staff
Sco> improved slightly in terms of try scoring ability, but the wins just mask the weaknesses
Italy> Major improvement in ability and self confidence, and improved strength in depth
Fra> Well the stats don't lie, both in results and performance, difficult to assess due to crazy PSA selections

Fine lines in my opinion.

England - SL doing a great job, same as last year, no grand slam but win win championship.
Wales - Impressive away form.
Scotland - much improved defence.
Ireland - Very good first half but run out of steam second half, need fresh blood
Italy - Only have one good game in them, can they make it two against Ireland.
France - Rubbish team selection, coach must go.

England - Looking strong and efficient all over the park - developing nicely
Wales - Starting to get back on track after so many injuries - good defense but still not firing on all cylinders
Scotland - There's improvement but they need to be patient - lacking power up front
Ireland - Ravaged by key in juries to Sexton, Bowe and OConnell - Very difficult game ahead in Italy. Time to start afresh next season
Italy - Treading water, their next game will define their season, win and it's very good. lose and it's just the same.
France - The team and coach in particular have brought a new meaning to plucking defeat from the jaws of victory - Insanity at its best - they need a non-french coach thumbsup
