Mumbai go down in a dead game....whihc will be remebred as the last game of Gilchrist....and he struck with his first ball as a bowler and hangs his boots with a stupendous win.
The man after a slow start......pulled his weight...scored runs and Gilchrist goes out on a high

RCB hammered the chennai bowling...and Dhoni messed up the chase when he opened with Vijay and Hussey.
The moment they played 2 quite overs...maztch was lost.

they needed to put Raina, Bravo, Dhoni and Jadeja in the top4

anyway....hyderabad's game tomm is their quarterfinal knock out...if they win they are through.....simple..and I'd like to see them go throuhg

CSK thrashed MI by 48 runs, and makes their 5th IPL final. Thanks to fine, unbeaten 80s from Mike Hussey and Suresh Raina and their 140 run partnership, CSK posted a huge 192-1 in their 20 overs. Dwayne Smith took the attack to the CSK bowlers at the beginning of the chase, but ones Ravindra Jadeja took him out and followed it up with the big wickets of Dinesh Karthik and Kiron Pollard, MI's challenge got over rather quickly. Bravo too proved very hard to get away and picked up 3 wickets as well.

RR defeated SH by 4 wickets in the eliminator to set up a final qualifying game against MI. SH posted 132 in their 20 overs, with handy contributions from Shikhar Dhawan, White and Sammy. Their quality bowling unit made it difficult for RR with the chase, with the top half of the batting lineup getting dismissed within the first 10 overs. But Brad Hodge summoned all his experience, maintained a cool head and stayed through to finish the chase off. He received from solidity from Sanju Samson and James Faulkner, and Shane Watson had some quick fire runs. Hodge finished it off with 2 back to back 6s of Sammy and RR won with 4 balls remaining.

Mumbai choked....expectedy...and they might go down the drain against Rajsthan.
I feel for hyderbad...who went a long way proving sum of parts is greater than individuals...and also reaffirming faith that good bowling can superceded batting prowesses

Really enjoyed the RR-SH match. Although I find the celebrations of the likes of Sammy/Bravo/others sometimes a bit silly (it's fine to do it the odd time, but...). I agree with KP_F (which is happening more and more often...) that it's nice to see a side rely primarily on their bowling. But for a very good innings from Hodge, they would have pulled it off, no doubt about it.

Commentators claimed that the umpire's poor call on the Steyn leg-side wide cost them the match, which I found frankly insulting. Steyn bowled a poor over, that was nothing to do with the umpire. And then Sammy bowled a long-hop with fine-leg up and a short leg-side boundary. Ditto. Sure, it was a bad call, but by no means the worst display of skill we saw in the last few overs.

I think the semi-final between Mumbai and Rajasthan is an interesting match-up. My gut feeling is RR lack a genuine quality bowler (Faulkner has done pretty well, but he's not world class yet by any means). On the other hand they have a few batsmen who can win matches on their own.

N. Srinivasan is under serious pressure to resign and the final is in doubt after a senior CSK official - Gurunath Meiyappan - who also happens to be Srinivasan's son-in-law was arrested in connection with the ongoing fixing investigation.

IPL rules suggest that if the owners of a team are shown to be corrupt the team should be withdrawn with immediate effect.

Srinivasan is sinking by every minute...he was so far protected by sharad pawar.....a powerful union minsiter....wo had the backing of sonia gandhi.

so we've gotta see how long these powers above continue their support to srinivasan and risk their own image being tarnished.....now that his son in law is arrested.

To me srinivasan is gone.......we've gotta see how fast...tomorrow...or can he drag this for a week or so ?

and we've gotta see wether he will resign or will be fired or in the worst case arrested.

By thta notion every revival / any lower order partnership can be doubted.

Neverthlss IPL with liquor flowing, women, glitterati from bollywood, socialites mixing with the players in the after parties of IPL.......is a perfect breeding ground for bookies n brokers...esepcially given that betting is not legal in India.
and the easy to catch are the fringe players form the domestic circuit....lowly paid......aspiring to live the "hiigh life" all around them.
neverthless I don't think it is possible to fix the over all outocmes of the games.

that said there is too much of filth at the management level of IPL...that needs to be cleaned up...and in the interest of the Billion dollar brand sustenance ......it will be cleaned up.

KP- My problem is not the 58-8 in isolation, its the fact that IPL6 seemed to stagger from remarkable feat to remarkable without a pause. Look, Gayle scoring 175 vs Pune is believable, he is the best t20 bat in the world, and most Pune bowlers shouldnt be anywhere higher than club cricket. But, when it happens in concert with all these other dodgy events, I need to start doubting. Imagine watching EPL, one week Chelsea comes back from 4-0 down to win 6-4, thats pretty cool. But then the next week David de Gea saves three penalties in a row. Then Rosicky scores twice from the halfway line in the same match. Then v Persie misses an open goal sitter against West Ham, if these shocking anomalies, which we should be lucky to see once a season are what happens week in week out, especially if there was a match-fixing bust, then doubts need to be raised.

I agree....if one or two matches are found to be fixed...then you doubt the whole series.

But so far it has only been proved that there was spot fixing.....whihc was also proved in some county games and the Eng-Pak test series.
we don't starting doubting the whole county championship.....nor the entiire Eng-Pak test series.

so by the same rationale we should not doubt the whole IPL.

That said.....Mumbai Police has found that ICC knew of involvement of srinivasan's SIL with bookies....and questions are being asked whey ICC did not come out in the open......

there is a lot of rot still to be exposed...sad...but good that a thourough cleansing is on the horizon
