Westerns
I have only ever watched two Westerns in my life! Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Back To The Future 3
I watched Butch Cassidy again the other night and enjoyed it tremendously.
What Westerns do you guys recommend I watch next?

Re: Westerns
I'm not really a western fan, but I enjoyed Appaloosa and the remake of True Grit

Re: Westerns
Sergio Leone westerns are the best imo.
Try to avoid John Wayne movies at all costs
The latest True Grit western is very very good imo and I advise you see it.

Re: Westerns
Would pretty much go along with Rowley & OneTwo (though I would disagree with the latter to an extent & recommend The Searchers).
Unforgiven is a classic in any genre. Another one I'd recommend is Ox-Bow Incident, surprised an ending like it got through the producers in 1940.

If you do come to like the genre I'd also suggest McCabe & Mrs Miller, The Outlaw Josey Wales & Pat Garret and Billy The Kid (which gave the world Knocking On Heaven's Door). If not you're best off avoiding.

Re: Westerns
Magnificent 7 is quality.
Will dissagree with ONETWO.
Think John Wayne films are decent.
Liked Young Guns 1 and 2.

Re: Westerns
The Quick and the Dead is a cracking yarn and has a modern twist. My fave Sam Raimi film.
Re: Westerns
The Gunfighter, an often overlooked western with Gregory Peck as the lead.

Also check out the series Deadwood if you haven't already done so.
You'll never look at Lovejoy the same way ever again.

That's put me off. Who would want to spoil their memories of Lovejoy?

What would have been better would have been if they had put Lovejoy into Deadwood and Al Swaringer (Ian McShanes character in Deadwood) into Lovejoy.
BBC may have had some real trouble showing it pre-watershed however!!

Re: Westerns
John Wayne in "The Shootist" is brilliant. Riddled with cancer in real life he plays a gunman coming to terms with his own mortality.
"Unforgiven" is a classic. Can't abide Costner but "Open Range" is good too despite not a great deal happening.
Also check out "Tombstone" with Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer
