They tried to do a Greg Inglis and Israel Folau again.
Caught in the act of trying to smuggle a young player across the border and ensure he plays his first pro match in the Qld Cup.

Sorry mate, .... Robbie Farah.
With Gidley out, Greg Bird moves into the starting 13 and Sutton and Josh Reynolds have now been called up and will fight it out for the interchange spot.

Re: 2013 State of Origin Series
The tension is already building up here.
They've had a few pundits on TV already saying the Blues are "deservedly slight favourites".
Thurston is on standy-by... his wife is expecting a baby around June 5. He seems more worried about the timing of 'it'... and whether he'll be free to play. Honestly... of all the mind games... that surely has to take the cake.
I was at the Dogs-Broncos game last Friday night and was looking at all the empty seats... trying to visualise all those blue hairdos.

Re: 2013 State of Origin Series
I am a Queensland supporter, and for the last couple of years Ive always felt that somehow the Maroons could always pull a win out of the fire, and win the series.
I dont have that feeling this year.
On a side note I heard an interview over the weekend with Wayne Bennett(he was over here with Newcastle) and he was saying that State of Origin is the pinnacle of rugby League on the planet.

It's very intense. I'd put it above an NRL Grand Final both in terms of intensity and atmosphere at the ground.

Re: 2013 State of Origin Series
Some idiot at NSWRL tweeted the wrong player as the chosen replacement for Kurt Gidley. They said it was John Sutton... but had to embarrassingly apologise to him when in fact it was Josh Reynolds who got the nod.

Haven't seen him respond yet.
They had some footage of him walking around with his head down but that could have been days/weeks/months ago?

They interviewed JT and Cameron Smith last night on Sterlo.
Both had cheeky smiles and said Big Mal would most likely go with the same game plan that won them the last 7 series.

Just realised this match is on at the same time as the Lions-Force match. Bugger... but this game is more important to me.

Yes I am but it says k.o. in Perth is 20:00 EST... same as Origin. I hope it is WST, that would enable me to catch the last 20 mins or so.
Anyway, it will be replayed (the Force match) the next day... Game 3 Eng-NZ/ and the IRB Junior C'ships - Australia-Ireland is on late Wednesday / early Thursday.

Re: 2013 State of Origin Series
It was a great evening all in all. The U16 NSW side won 30-0.
The intensity of the Blues overwhelmed the Maroons. Even though they seemed to have a worse completion rate - they had more ball and got those early points on the board. Silly play from Gallen (he didn't miss!) - he'll get suspended again but I guess the message from the whole team was the same in a way. They tackled like demons and simply smothered Qld up until the last 20 mins or so. I started to see our blokes drop off slightly (no wonder... impossible to keep that up) and Qld getting over the gainline more easily. Had me worried but the bloke next to me was more confident. Some crazy fans screaming out non-stop. I was too... voice feels a bit raw now.
The atmosphere at the ground was amazing. 80,380 was the crowd. The Blatchy's Blues sounded so intimidating with their chant. I don't know if they showed it but the 2 mascots were mucking around in front of them and some idiot jumped onto the field and was pounced on by half a dozen police.
Qld will obviously regroup and it wouldn't surprise me if they won up at Suncorp. NSW to me are still not playing like the great sides of years gone by. Still too many unforced errors... lucky they were not severely punished. We need a couple of players back if we're going to win the series comprehensively but I've a feeling it will be 1-1 and it will all come down to the 3rd Game again.
I accidentally got corralled onto the wrong platform on the way home and ended up having to catch a city bound train which was packed like sardines. Got off at Strathfield and then had to catch another train back 4 stops to my new station. It was quite a fun trip... lots of happy faces and the odd sullen Q'lander. We're all mates really though!

Tell the missus that the rules are different for these games. Don't worry... there will be payback. Just heard a long discussion on the radio. The next game will have the largest audience ever here and is expected to be a bloodbath. (well, that's what all the pundits are saying)

Huge day for Australian politics and a bigger day for Qld.
They were so relentless... especially in that first 20 mins.

The 3rd SOO game will attract more media and public interest than any other sports event in Australia this year by a country mile. Forget the Melbourne Cup, forget the Lions tour, forget this years Cricket ashes series in Australia this year. This 3rd SOO game in Sydney is the big one.

I'm on the Lions tour and watched the game in The Imperial in Melbourne (I like watching league too). Great atmosphere in the pub + some good ale.
That was a pretty comprehensive win by QLD. NSW didn't seem to have much of a clue as to how to get through the QLD defence whenever they got near the try line.
More innovation needed from the boys in blue in the decider.

Good to see you down in the League thread Hound, (its not a bad place to hide out while the dust settles, if youve been in a fight up in the union thread).. but anyway League is a game thats won by the yardage gained by the props, to get their team to the tryline, when that queensland spine of 1,6,7,9, attack the line, they are impossible to stop, they are best in the World of League.
