Now this really can't be right. I have come back from the gym to see England bowl well and standing a great chance of winning?
Always rated my boy Bresnan highly and he is proving people wrong!!!

Another good move from Cook...Anderson on now. Wouldn't want him to bowl too many at the death...
And he gets Marsh first ball anyway !

Bit unlucky for Marsh that, right out of the screws but straight to the fielder. Still, England won't complain.
Hard to see a path to victory for Australia here. Again, too many wickets at crucial times.

that was quite amusing. Two aussies on sky commentary were just saying they looked well set to get this 9 an over.. as the said it he holes straight out.
to be fair with Bailey there and a deep batting line up they are no doubt correct.

Yes. No special merit in the ball , perhaps , but no matter. As I was saying , it was a sound move to use Anderson now , and keep another Broad over for a potential late innings flourish from the batsmen...the wicket is a lovely bonus.
And Jimmy becomes England's leading ODI wicket taker...
Does he have another ?

Do those who were questioning the efforts of Bell/Trott think the blame for Australia's impending loss lie at the feet of Bailey?
I reckon Bell is favourite for the man of the match award myself.

tv tell us aussie bat deep though so they still seem happy they have the overs and men to do this. i'm not assuming anything.

Nipping back from the telly to find Jimmy has dispatched Marsh before he can really trouble the scoreboard. Aus 134-5 and the England total is starting to look more than adequate.
Aus need to average around 9 an over to win.

Wade trying it on , I reckon. We all know how low catches often look dodgy on TV slo-mo.
Glad to see the third umpire not taking any rubbish.
Good fifty for Bailey

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
You'd assume that the remaining Aussie batsmen will hit out so is this a good chance for England to bowl them out and get a real boost for the net run rate?
If so should they bowl out Anderson/Broad and hold back Ravi?
It's risky but I'd be inclined to do so. No risk involved from the sofa though.

Jesus! Anderson running riot through the lower order and Wade is gone almost as soon as he gets to the crease. Aus now 136-6.
Sterling effort by Bailey for his 50 but its looking like a futile effort now.

Nice piece of bowling from Anderson to dismiss Wade, who was clearly out whatever he thought.

Na, I'm hanging around there. If there's any doubt you hang about and let the umpire make the decision. Went upstairs, definitely out and he's gone. Fair enough.

I think Australia may play for their own run-rate rather than go for it. I guess if they get to within 50 from here they'd be pleased.

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
Australia's batting is going through a face of real crisis. Marsh bats far too high at 6, and apart from Watson, Clarke and Warner, there is no real class in that lineup. They really have to unearth some quality batsmen in the near future. Phil Hughes isn't one of them, and like the English selectors with Dernbach, its time they move on. Can't play quality pace, can't play spin, yet people want to believe he's the next big thing in Australian cricket.

Required run rate creeps over 10 an over (121 needed from 12).

Bailey has a heave and is caught by Root off Tredwell for 55.
Great knock but sadly in vain. Aus 151-7 and its all over now.
Comfortable England win imminent.

Spot on , msp
And even Warner (eye player , great on his day , will be dismissed cheaply too often by quality pace bowling for a top Test opener ) and Watson (doesn't go on often enough) have flaws...
Which is why I'd look at Bailey. A cricket brain can help a lot.
Bailey gone now after a good innings ! Deserved wicket for Tredwell. Won't be long now...

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
Bizarre run-out.
Mitchell Johnson is out without facing a ball. Fantastic work by Buttler to break the bails.
Not long now...
Well the multiple replays showed he was out...according to the TMS team, but the TV umpire has given him NOT out...

Run out now , I think ...bat raised ?
Yes , out surely ? ...might be too close to call ...hard one for the TV ump , he may get away with it ...
Lucky , but I guess any benefit should go to the batsman.

If he'd dived the bat the right way up he would have been fine for sure.
And I think the Barmy Army would have spontaneously combusted in excitement had he got out without facing...

I think it was because although the bat wasn't grounded, it was over the line? Only thing I can think of.

I think the feeling is you slide easier with the bat the "wrong" way up (if the "right" way up then it tends to plug). Not sure about the reasoning myself, but a couple of coaches I've spoken to swear you probably get further, even allowing for the bat bounce which inevitably occurs.

Think it was an issue of exactly when the bails were completely removed...too close to be sure. Think I'd have called it out , but I won't argue the point with Mr Bowden.

Yeah they have bowled really well and justified not having Finn.
I still think the middle part of the batting got it wrong though and that needs addressing.
If we face SL in these conditions they will get a very high score.

It won't get near the big scores India or SL will get under the sun.
Nas thinks India are big favourites again here. If it rains that could change of course.
