Which New Manager will have the best season ?
Which New Manager will have the best season ?
Which Premier League manager will have the best season at their new clubs ? Now that doesn't have to mean winning the league or a cup , just meeting/exceeding their clubs expectations .
I have put Pellegrini on the list as it seems certain he will take over at Man City any day now .

Re: Which New Manager will have the best season ?
Mourinho most likely, Chelsea have got a really decent looking side now, and if they can get a couple good signings I see them challenging for the title again.
I'd still say that Moyes will win the title with United this year, and I think Pellegrini has the hardest job, City have a really unbalanced side at the moment and a lot of investment is required to get the team looking good again. I imagine he'll be expected to perform in Europe as well.
Think Hughes will just consolidate Stoke's position, I don't see them getting relegated or challenging the top 10.
I think Martinez will be happy with a top 8 position and he'll likely get that.

Moyes - Will win the PL, might go far in the Champions League as well.
Martinez - Will struggle with losing some good players to United.
Mourinho - Wins a domestic trophy, FA cup most likely. 2nd in the league.
Hughes - Massive backward step for Stoke City.
Pellegrini - 3rd in the league, no trophies. Money doesn't equal success.
Has to be Moyes then.

Moyes - I think will have a good first season , but i don't think they will win the league .
Martinez - Has inherited a decent side even if they lose a couple of players i can see them bringing in McCarthy and McManaman from Wigan which would be two good signings ....i do think they need a striker aswell though
Mourinho - I can see Chelsea spending big , and winning the title
Hughes - Imo i huge mistake on Stokes part hiring him
Pellegrini - Again will spend big but will lose some good players , but will easily make the top 4 and should do better in the CL this season .
So given i can see the Jose effect taking Chelsea to the league title im going for Mourinho

Chelsea will win the Prem, IMO, so it's Jose for me!

I don't see why people see Hughes as such a disastrous appointment. At Fulham and Blackburn, similar size clubs and position to Stoke now, he was pretty successful. As long as he isn't entrusted with a big budget, he'll do alright. I don't think they'll do any worse than under Pulis so it can't be described as a step backwards, and they might do a little better, but more than likely will stay where they are.

Moyes - Will come 2nd or 3rd. But will win a cup.
Martinez - Will do the same as Moyes did this season.
Jose - Will win the league and a cup.
Hughes - Sacked by Christmas. Wreck Stoke, like he wrecked QPR season last year.
Pellegrini - Could win the league and could win a cup.

You see Everton beating Liverpool again next season without Moyes, Nick?

I see QPR as the exception rather than the rule with Hughes. He'll mix it up with Stoke and probably try bring in some wingers to replicate what he had with Pedersen and Bentley at Blackburn. And what Etherington used to bring to Stoke when they were more effective. In fact I'd expect him to take the punt on Bentley.
Pulis has underperformed with stoke recently compared with his spending. Think Hughes will probably settle them away from the battle at the bottom.
Mourinho most successful on the assumption he buys big, could well win the league then

I can see Chelsea winning the league, with Man City finishing 2nd. Man Utd to finish 3rd.

Re: Which New Manager will have the best season ?
Hughes's record as a Prem manager is pretty good.
Took over at Blackburn in 04 and kept them up. Finished 6th, 10th and 7th in the following seasons at the same side.
Then went to City and finished 10th in 08/09. Finished 8th with Fulham in 10/11.
Then went to QPR and kept them up, before failing the season after.
So that's 5 Top 10 finishes in seven seasons. And in the other two seasons he kept the team he took over up.
Don't let the QPR team of this season cloud your judgement of him I'd say.

Hughes destroyed QPR, that's why there a Championship club now. I expect him to do the same with Stoke.

It's also quite harsh to lay the blame for QPR solely on Hughes's shoulders. They were actually further off being safe under Redknapp than they were under the Welshman

Yeah but the damage was already done. Hughes brought in so much crap and put Harry in such a bad position, it was almost impossible for him to keep them up. Harry is already eyeing up good signings next season. Wayne Bridge expected to join them, apparently Harry says they can offer him his 90 grand a week wages
Also isn't it Sir Harry Redknapp?

Giving Wayne Bridge 90k a week is not a good signing.

I think it is. He proved he was the best LB in the league last season, also he will bring Frankie Sandford to your games every week. He is also such a cool guy.

Re: Which New Manager will have the best season ?
It's £90,000 a week in the Championship, for a player who has shown in the past he's happy to sit on his arse and do nothing for the money. If he was getting Wayne Bridge for cheap, then I'd agree it's a decent signing, but if it's £90k a week it really isn't, half of that would be too much.

He only had 25 games, upwards of £20 million to make up a 6 point gap.
Hardly "mission impossible" now

Harry did worse that Hughes despite getting a dump truck fill of money to sign a highly rated goal scorer and a dominating centre half with pl experience.

Re: Which New Manager will have the best season ?
as a united fan im quite pessimistic about next season. so far chelsea have already strengthen a very good squad with the arrival of mourinho. city have strengthen with a couple of signings but have an unknown manager in terms of the EPL. while we have weaken in losing sir alex. thats no dig at moyes but he's not going to be able to get the same out of this squad as fergie did imo, after all he's replacing the greatest manager of all time.
think stoke will struggle next season. appointing hughes is a bad move. he did alright at blackburn. he was only at fulham for one year so dont think you can judge him too much on that as he inherited a decent team. most of my city fan mates say he was rubbish at city where he was given alot of money to spend. and at qpr i have never seen so many bad transfers in my life in such a short space of time. take the park signing for instance, hughes has never worked with him at all yet soon as he arrives he gives him the qpr captaincy!!! makes no sense whatsoever, park doesnt even speak english very well!
as for martinez think everton will drop slighty getting used to a new manager and his system but nothing major. so i voted for mourinho sadly

Bridge has gone to Reading today hasn't he? Not a good nor bad signing, he's decent for that level without being notably so. If it was 90k then its ludicrous, that's over 30k more than Nolan was on when he joined us, and that was a ball busting, risk taking wage.
