I had it 115-113 to Broner, when the ring announcer said 'split decision' I thought I had won some big bucks lol as I backed Pauli to take a split decision '33/1' was too good to turn down, but all in all Broner deserved it.

I think Malignaggi was pretty much spot on in the interview after. I thought the fight was very close and came down to interpretation. Most of the work rate was with Malignaggi, but Broner landed the more telling punches.

As for Broner I believe he needs a proper trainer, Mike Stafford has gone this far with him, when the going gets tougher this will show. In this fight inbetween rounds Mike rarely advised Adrian in how to counter what Pauli was doing to him. He would just ask him how he was doing and give him some vague advise about pressuring his opponent. Broner has tremendous talent, but he needs someone to develop it as he moves up in opponent class, he tends to foul out of frustration and he thinks too much in the ring when he should be dictating the action.

When he steps up to someone of equal talent, he will be in trouble because he has a terrible corner. Right now he needs a real trainer, not a cheerleader. Mike Stafford is not the answer for Broner's problems.

Broner also landed more punches, not just more meaningful punches.

Would be interesting to see how far Broner could get if he tried developing a fight plan to his strengths, rather than mimicking Mayweather despite being an obviously different breed of fighter.

Broner will struggle against better opponents. Whilst malignaggi is decent he is still a B list fighter and also the fact he has absolutely no power also means he was a perfect fit for broner who could walk through his punches.

De la Hoya just tweeted 'Broner vs Maidana anyone?' sounds pretty good to me.

Broner is still only 23 though and will likely fill into the weight naturally the older he gets, Malinaggi was seen as an easier option of grabbing another title at another weight before someone more dangerous takes it from him and the oppurtunity passes.  It didn't quite pay off the way he probably hoped despite the win but I imagine he will drop back down to lightweight or perhaps try out at light welterweight where there a plently of big names to build on his name.  Don't like the kid and he still has a lot to learn but at 23 I think people are judging him a little harshly.
