Steve Darcis' injuries
First topic message reminder :
Many probably do not know full well the injury history of Steve Darcis. Not being one the top guys, this is absolutely exusable, so here is the full list:
Steve Darcis (BEL)
All Injuries
Right shoulder 39/2012 40/2012
Back 25/2012 26/2012
Right shoulder 1/2012 6/2012
Low back pain 42/2011 42/2011
Unknown 25/2011 27/2011
Left hamstring 19/2011 20/2011
Stiff neck 35/2010 38/2010
Unknown 27/2010 30/2010
Left quadriceps 18/2010 19/2010
Unknown 12/2010 19/2010
Shoulder 18/2009 22/2009
Foot 6/2009 10/2009
Unknown 35/2008 40/2008
Back 34/2008 35/2008
Wrist 16/2008 18/2008
Left calf 39/2007 39/2007
Unknown 23/2007 26/2007
Abdominals 4/2007 13/2007
Right Wrist 20/2006 21/2006
Right Ankle Strain 37/2004 7/2005
Some questions spring to mind:
Are any of those injuries impacting his game right now?
Could have he achieved more in his career without those?
Are we correctly factoring in the impact of past and present injuries, not only for Darcis but for any given player in the ATP when he's lost a match? (E.g Delpotro/ Hewitt/ Haas/ Blake/ Safin/ Edberg/ Federer .......).
What if........these guys didn't have injuries throughout their career? How many more slams would they have won?

Re: Steve Darcis' injuries
I hear what youre saying, but Steve Blake was very good coming into the seasons end, may get more minutes. He is a useful defender, as are Dwight and MWP, and Gasol, so its possible to hide Nash, I think. The Lakers front office are to blame for the mess, though. They built a PlayStation team (as in they built a team in very fantasy-driven way, where real world issues like injuries, and chemistry dont matter). Basically "Wouldnt it be cool if we get D12 and Pau in one team? Then imagine Kobe and Nash in one team? Now imagine them all together!!!?" it rarely works

Good luck, may be its time you post a request to JHM for locking this thread as it will serve no more purpose .
This thread has been most illuminating, we found out that Mrs. Kingraf does not approve of his love interest, we discussed a guy with 10 stone testicles, and discussed all happenings in the NBA. There is some tennis talk here and there as well.
I see you guys have decided to bridge the Tennis and Basketball section.

Biggest mistake of the front office was not signing Phil Jackson as head coach for 15 or 20 million dollars a year as head coach, he would win the title with this playstation team. And their other big mistake was thinking Nash could be comparable to his glory days. Also they had a fair bit of bad luck with injuries this year as well.

I'm assuming you'll now tell Socal and Kingraf off for 'derailing the thread' or does that only apply to me?
Or perhaps you'll just choose to delete my post again.

Okay okay, my apologis JK, lets keep discussing Darcis' run of injuries as a stick to beat other players injury blues...

Re: Steve Darcis' injuries
Now answering your thread JK, if your point is "Players get injured get over it", then I agree with you, but there have been far less comments commenting on Nadal's injury then there were Federer's back complaint in Indian Wells. Also, seeing, as Eman so eloquently put it, that this is a tennis thread, I fail to understand the shock that some posters here have when people show worry over the possibility that thee world number five currently, the third greatest player ever in terms of Slam accumulation, is injured.
If your point is that Darcis' gets more injured than Nadal, then, no not with that injury list he doesnt. His injuries may be more widely-spread across the body, but thats it. Guys like Blake are horror cases of "what if", while Haas gets his fair share of sympathy on this forum (read the comments section on any Haas vs Big 4 forum). Sympathy and empathy are human emotions, get used to it.
If, your problem is that Nadal always seems to lose because of injury, then you may not have been here when Djokovic beat him seven times in a row, or when Djokovic beat him in Monte Carlo. I'm similarl frustrated by the assertion on 606 that everytime Murray loses its because he is too passive, or that Federer only loses to Nadal when he isnt tuned in (the HTH makes this assertion, baffling, I mean does ge forget to tune in 66% of the time?)..

Re: Steve Darcis' injuries
Nadal from same site...
This totals 144 weeks out of action, nearly 3 years worth (and counting) and 64 weeks just for that knee.
Darcis complete list totals 77 weeks...still high and unfortunate but never had a serious knee injury or the same serious injury that's ran from 2005 to 2013. There's only so much injury that knee can take given the length of time he's had out with it. But we get your point...
Knee overuse (doubles) | 7/2013 | 9/2013 |
Stomach bug | 1/2013 | 6/2013 |
Knee | 32/2012 | 6/2013 |

Re: Steve Darcis' injuries
Fatigue and personal issues are not injuries.
I expect a lot of those 'injuries' were just excuses to get some rest or to pull out of inconvenient tourneys.
All of the players do it.

I'm going to temporarily lock this thread. If J_K wants me to re-open it for everyone to discuss Nadal, Federer, basketball, the weather or people's grandmother's, he can PM me, and I'll unlock it.
