Burnout & Fatigue Affecting Performance? Empty Burnout & Fatigue Affecting Performance?

Post by RubyGuby Sun 30 Jun 2013, 10:52 pm

Is there such a thing as Poster "Burnout" as I've noticed we're all exhausted and the quality of the posts is deteriorating. Is a mid season break required and/or are we posting too much these days and should there be an enforced posting limit to protect us from this fatigue and deterioration in our performance. Typos are on the increase and I've noticed more general irritability. Do we need more governance here or are we just going to have shorter posting careers as we become fatigued and disillusioned. Are we being over exploited here as the need for our wisdom, knowledge and opinion increases? Do the Mods really own all this intellectual property?

It's ok, Ruby, reckon you're fairly safe when it comes to intellectual property! Wink

Obviously, the problem is that primarily Welsh posters have been picked for the Lions, and Gatland is reputedly working them hard in training, leading to a certain fragility of opinion and grammar.

Several overlooked English, Irish and Scottish posters are sunning themselves on exotic islands, and keeping in shape by brushing up on the Laws, the latest coaching techniques and Fowler's Modern English Usage. I expect them to come back all guns blazing next season, and it should do them a power of good in terms of readiness for 2015.

I'm off to do some recruitment now, Ruby - more of the same, or would you prefer balanced, reasonable, non-chipped wallflowers?

Cracking, I'll find some proper nut jobs then?! Would you like them to share your view on everything, or settle at 90% say? Don't want any free-thinking radicals after all?

I was off the forum from early May until the start of the June tests for this exact reason, but I haven't been able to ratchet myself up to my normal rate of posts.

Considering that I tend to post about rugby as little as possible, and instead just funny (or laughably unfortunate) stuff that happens to me, I can only assume that the world is less hilarious than it used to be.

Mr Gatland, make me laugh. NOW.

I trained hard all year at Provincial level - smart comments, liberal literary allusions, I even began letting stats leak into my arguments (and I've had a career long allergy to them).  Then I moved on to International and played on here long after most of my Irish colleagues jumped ship when they knew our goose was cooked.  It was embarrassing to listen to all the glee in the English, Welsh and Scottish camps but I kicked well and still ran some nice angles.

Then onto the Lions......................and F**Kin' Gats didn't pick me.... even for a midweek bench spot!  Too verbose he said.  Not economical with words, he said.  Too flamboyant not pragmatic enough.

And yet now people like me are being blamed for the mistakes made at the weekend?

I tried to blame Gatland to take the pressure off the players and was told to blame players instead.  I blamed a few posters for blaming a few players to try and fit in, but I was told I was blaming the wrong posters and I was anti-Welsh for not blaming Irish players.

So, in the end I picked up a serious knackered injury and have lost all form so I won't be even able to fly out as a replacement for Bluesman if his tongue gets injured.  I'm gutted and exhausted.  I might retire next year.

Very good Ruby...Might be why the Biltongs, Linebreakers and Bluesmans are taking their well earned McCaw type sabbaticals (though I suspect not somehow) so that they can come back stronger, typo free and will introduce new dimensions to their game going forward...
can't wait!.

thumbsup Joking aside Taylorman, whilst there was an obvious parody to my original post, there's probably an element of truth in it. I feel a research project coming on - Anyone fancy filling in some Gad-7's and PHQ-9's
