Its actually Dundee Utd Camp is training with, I dont think he's actually on trial as he's clearly better than what they already have, it would be a great signing for the Tangerines

I said it as soon as he was appointed, terrible decision in my opinion. I fear for Everton. It was always going to be difficult following in Moyes' footsteps on that budget but signing players like Kone & Alcaraz is just woeful. I thought one day they could really push on but losing Moyes and now the possibility of Baines/Fellaini leaving and the below average replacements is just a recipe for disaster. I think Everton could find this to be a difficult transition season and they could go back to yo-yoing up and down the EPL for a few years. Only my opinion.

Its only 2nd July. Fellaini and Baines haven't even gone. How does anyone know these are their replacements. Why can't these be squad strengthening signings with big names to follow later on?

Baines will eventually go. United are going to come back and then Baines will just put in a transfer request. His career need the move, he needs champions league football and he needs to be at a top club to enhance his chances of removing A. Cole from the England squad ahead of the World Cup. They could be squad strengthening signings but they are not top notch players in my opinion and are no way an improvement on what Everton already have. Also, the only way there will be further signings is if Fellaini/Baines do depart to create the finances for later signings. Tough to see positives for Everton in respect of challenging for the top 4.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread ......Continued
I'm sure I read somewhere that with tv deals and the 6th place league finish Everton earned £60m last season. I know that won't all go on transfers but I would imagine there will be more than £6.5m available so I don't see why the only way there will be more signings is through player sales.
I see Fellaini possibly going but I'm not sure about Baines. I think he may be one of the few loyal players left. Time will tell though.
Also, I think Kone is a decent option up top, especially with Jelavic's current form. No comment on Alcaraz, no idea about him really. But his transfer will be free.

Kone is a good option for them, whilst Alcaraz will clearly come in to be an option. So, I don't think this is anyway indicative of Martinez being a poor manager.
Sky sports reckon west ham have bid £10m for Bony. Think its smoke and mirrors personally, our target is more likely to be Ba, but intriguing nonetheless.

I thought he looked quite decent from what I saw of him last year. £5m-£6m seems fair, in a better team he could improve those 11 goals in a season to 15-20 maybe? Maybe a bit optimistic but still....

Hull City are looking to complete the signing of either Gary Hooper from Celtic or Charlie Austin from Burnley by friday , they have up offers for both and told both clubs they will only sign one in an effort to hurry a deal through .
City will then look to try and sign Man City striker John Guidetti on a season long loan deal

It's not so much Kone that's the problem but Alcaraz. Really Roberto? There are so many better defenders out there. He'll be bringing Caldwell and that ginger bloke with him soon.

Alcaraz is a poor signing, but it will allow Martinez to play

----Jagielka-Distin-Alcaraz
Coleman -------------Baines
Plus whatever midfielders and forwards he wants.

That's assuming Alcaraz would get in ahead of Heitinga and Duffy. I don't see it being that poor a signing if its for free and he's going to play back up.

Alcaraz is a player the manager likes that he knows will do a job. Happens with a lot of managers, they bring in players they have a relationship with and trust.
Has Elliot Bennett ever torn it up? Zamora at least earned an England call up, although as a completely different player to the one that left Brighton

Heitinga supposedly wants to leave, but I'd defo play Alcaraz ahead of him. And I don't think Martinez is going to rate Duffy at all.MIG wrote:Azzy Mahmood wrote:Alcaraz is a poor signing, but it will allow Martinez to play

If Everton could get £4m or so for him, from say Galatasaray, they should get rid, invest his wages in Baines and Fellaini wage increases, then bring through kids to replace his role on the bench.

Heitinga is quite bad to be fair. Could sell him for a decent amount as he's a World Cup finalist. Lol

Guardian round up gives us this:
Shelvey to Swansea for £6m - a story the telegraph also go with, supported by quotes from Huw Jenkins (bit surprised we havent gone in on this, think it could be very beneficial for England if Shelvey grows at Swansea though)
Rooney to hold talks with Moyes tomorrow. "The forward met United's manager around a month ago, when he described the reasoning for his discontent last season and his unhappiness at Sir Alex Ferguson's claim that he had asked for a transfer, which United accept he did not" (Something I wondered at the time, Ferguson always happy to work the press)
Anelka's representatives to meet with WBA this week. West Brom also linked to Kalou but face competition from West Ham (I never rated him personally, but his record is decent)

In other United news, I saw on the back of the Tele yesterday that United have two ex-Spurs players on trial, Modric could do a job in the middle of the park, but it'll be hard for Van Der Varrt to displace GMS on the right
I've never actually seen Camp play, can anyone tell me what he's like? Hopefully he'd be someone with an engine as that's what we'd need to replace Flood, doubt we'd get him though

I think he just trusts younger players in general and when he doesn't have players of the right quality at his disposal he will quite reasonably go with Spanish players as that is what he knows best.

I think he is a scumbag and not consistent enough. Kagawa is potentially a better replacement already at the club. Why not cash in on Rooney now while he's still worth big money and use the funds for a centre mid which United have been crying out for for years now.
