Anyone would want him, he'd be the best midfielder in the league

I can't see Barca selling Fabregas, as per the reasons mentioned. Two years is extremely quick to give up on a player they pursued so publicly and manically between 2010-2011. I know Barca want Thiago Silva, but surely they don't need to sell Fabregas to fund any move for him?
I'm not sure I'd want him back at Arsenal either. I take Dolphin's point about his ability, but I believe Cazorla has adequately filled his role as the goal-scoring and creative hub from midfield. Hopefully Wilshere and the Ox can develop as being effective in that position as well for me.
The way he left the club left a sour taste as well. I can understand why he wanted to go to Barca, but, in my opinion, he refused to go away on tour when he was club captain in order to try to force through the move. RVP and Nasri get pelters from Gooners, but I think they were more professional in the way they left the club than Cesc.

Sorry, just to clarify, i have read the comments and i was kind of aware of the buyback clause before reading them but from what i understand its like this:
If a club bids for Fabregas then Arsenal can choose to pay that price if accepted by Barcelona? I'm interested thats all

I'd say Mata and Fabregas play pretty similar roles. Over the last two years I'd give Mata the edge. Wilshere needs to stay fit obviously, but needs to add goals to his game before he can be classed in the same bracket as those two.
My understanding is that Arsenal have a fixed buy back price for Fabregas, and are also entitled to a fair chunk of the fee if he is sold to another club.

I'm not saying Fabregas is over-rated, I think he's a quality player, but I do think some people elevate him into the top echelon of midfielders falsely. Yes, he was the best midfielder at Arsenal before he left but that was hardly difficult in that squad. He went to Barcelona and was quite poor in my opinion, couldn't break into the first team and just seemed off pace to the quickness and sharp play of Barcelona. What impact did he have in the Champions League last season, relatively little. Is he a certain starter for Spain.....toss of a coin. I think coming back to England would do him good and I sense he's feeling that way too, otherwise this would of been rejected immediately in terms of his interest. I think he's seen what RVP has achieved, post Arsenal, and fancies being part of it.
The reality though is that Barcelona don't need to sell and they don't have kids coming through. The highest rated player they have in the B side was Deulofeu and he's gone to Everton. The clause has falsely put everyone on alert but actually until Arsenal put a bid in, then nothing is realistically going to happen. Everyone says Arsenal need him back but why? They have £70m to spend but in the real world they will only spend half of that at best, say £35m-£40m. You spend £25m on Cesc, a player you don't need, and then you still have £10-£15m to buy a new centre back, goalkeeper and striker......not feasible and not going to happen. Why do United even need an attacking midfielder before a holding midfielder????? Crazy.

Why does anyone need a holding midfielder? They don't.
Carrick and fabregas would be a good partnership, both good at everything and do their defensive duty.
Not that I think the move will happen.

Wrong. If you've watched La Liga or Champions League in the last two years you will know that statement is incorrect. Xavi has been living off reputation for ages now, physically unable to control, impact upon and dominate games. Why do you think they bought Fabregas, long term successor and he failed upto this point.

Fabregas was a luxury buy.

They never needed Fabregas at Barca but he has done fine for them. I think he'd be a great player for United and Arsenal. He wouldnt play in the 3 behind the striker in my book, he'd be in the two central midfielders and he'd be the one who joined the attacks more. With Arteta he'd be the main one to burst forward, with Wilshere they would share responsibility. Carrick in place of Arteta in the same role if he went to United. He's a player who can start and finish attacks, much more suited to the English game too.
Id say hes a better midfielder than Cazorla cos Cazorla would be no use playing deep but Fabregas can. Cazorla is a far better attacking threat, as is Mata, but they couldnt play as one of a two behind an attacking quartet in a 4-2-3-1 and be as effective across the whole pitch as Cesc

I think Fabregas plays too English for Barcelona these days, which is why a move back to England would be great for him. Would love to see the move, would be exciting, would be crazy to see Van Persie and Fabregas both at Manchester United and I think it might ignite Barcelona into more action as well as Chelsea and Arsenal.
If Fabregas and Thiago both go than surely a new central midfielder would be brought in at Barcelona, I'm just not sure who they'd sign. Mata?

Would love to see Cesc return to the Prem class player and he would be the perfect signing for United IMO.

QPR sign Richard Dunne from Aston Villa - He is too good for the Championship, surely??
Tranmere sign Akpo Sodje from Scunthorpe - He seems to of been around forever!!!
Southend sign Ben Coker from Colchester - I always thought he was rated highly by Colchester, bit odd to drop a league.

Yeah, think he's right to take the step down into the Championship, would be a shame to see him embarrassed in the Premier League. Hasn't he just come back from a fairly serious injury as well?
I don't like Dunne purely because on Football Manager I signed him to be an experienced head and he was awful, I released him after 3 months, paying him off was better than having him around.
