Why the world should want Haye to win - Page 2 Empty Why the world should want Haye to win

Post by TRUSSMAN66 Tue 10 May 2011, 12:49 pm

First topic message reminder :

1. Having a family ow2nig the greatest prize in sports makes the most prestigious honor in sport look easy and cheap.

2. Haye is exciting....

3. Haye is aesthetic. A trait lost in the division since Lewis bulked up

4. The fact Vitali had to beat Sanders for Vlad kind of say's it all..

5. The Klits are boring fighters hidden away in Germany.

6. When the heavyweight division is exciting it filters down to the other divisions. synergesic.

7. Haye has the charisma and style to captivate Boxing..on both sides of the Atlantic.

8. Boxing needs a figurehead.

I could go on all day but I'll stop at 8.....

So come on David and produce the goods..Time for one of the faceless wonders to be expelled from the scene.

Agree, point 1 is out of context, but at least supported, unlike your argument that it cheapens the weight division that the two best in the world are brothers. Yes, they will not fight each other, but that isn't really surprising. The fact is, they are the best in the world until someone beats them. The heavy weight title is still the crowning glory for any heavy weight boxer and they are the obstacles a fighter must over come to prove they deserve it.

By the way, just heard HBO are showing this live....

Wasn't aware they were going to pick this one up, thought it might've been a sister company broadcasting it or something

Yeah Smith said that would be on HBO. I think it's a real global fight, Americans care more about non-American boxers more than most would have you believe. Their boxing fans are not ignorant.

Tend to agree, nationalities go on the backburner for something like this. This is a fight to provide some sort of clarity to the heavyweight division and a win could establish a person with a more than compelling case to be the man at the weight and unify 3 of the belts. Everyone with an interest in the sport can appreciate the value and enormity of that.

How can you want Haye to win?

1) He inflicted Haye-Harrison on us
2) If he loses to Wlad he will go down as one of the worst heavyweight champs of all time, that's how bad his resume is

Yet Haye is the saviour of the division? Give me a break!

Is Haye really an exciting fighter? I mean really. He inflicted arguable the most boring contest this side of Nelson vs De Leon/Warring when he fought Valuev. Harrison fight anyone? Those 2.5 rounds were a pacifists dream. I can imagine the BMA citing this as an example of why they changed their mind on banning boxing.

Ruiz fight? Well a decent(ish) fight.

Haye talks a better fight.

1) Wlad has inflicted god knows how many dull "jab jab" fights on us
2) If Wlad loses he'll go down as the longest reigning bum in history

What would bring more excitement to the division/sport? A Haye win or Wlad Win?

Think that's part of Truss's point....

Not meaning to bicker too much after the last thread etc, hopefully u can see my point tho Wink

Haye... exciting heavyweight fights... they don't go hand in hand!

Against the only relatively decent (and I use the term very loosely) in Valuev he put on one of the most boring performances I have ever seen.

Fair enough he blew away Harrison, Ruiz and Barrett, but if Wlad was fighting them he would have done the same, if not better!

Put Haye in the ring with a decent heavy and he will try to bore his way to a victory.

Am gonna give him the benefit of the doubt against Valuev as he hurt his hand early

I'd be surprised if he tried to mug Wlad to victory.... Think he might try and find the magic shot etc

Still, it would add a bit of interest to the division if he did run to victory as at least it would break the stranglehold and open up a fight with Vitali etc..

Yeah, but then we get the problem with him retiring in 6 months and leaving the division is worse than it is now!

I think I'm looking forward to seeing the division shape up of the next 18 months with the genuine younger prospects getting their shots, rather than Haye clowning around and get KTFO !

i personally think Wlad is better for the sport, he might not be the most mind blowing to watch, but lets give him credit he's recovered very well from his defeats and is a great guy out of the ring, Haye is deluded if he thinks Wlad hasnt fought anybody and he has, i'll personally never take him seriously after fighting Audley Harrison, that is the type of fight that is genuinely killing the sport. I dont like the anger and genuine dislike in every word Haye says about opponents either, i think when you look at Watson, McClelland, etc saying you'll take someone's head off, 'violate' them, is absolutely bang out of order, this guy cares about money, himself and nothing else.
