Foreign Transfers
As a general rule, if you want a world class player (and by world class I mean a player that I consider to be one of the 3 best in the world in his position at the moment), you will be looking at between £20-25 million.
For a top international with over 30 caps, £17-22 million, and an international with less than 30 caps £15-20 million. There may be some exceptions to this in the case of certain players, but this will be the general rule.
There will be an upper limit of £10 million for uncapped academy aged players unless two or more managers want the player and enter into a bidding war in which case there is no upper limit.
Bids for uncapped players who are over academy age limits will be judged on their own individual merits.
Current Bids Under Consideration
stnick88 - Netani Talei - £16 million (06/06/12 - 15:12)
anonmattyt - Karl Chateau - £13 million (06/06/12 - 14:50)
Arry - Ben Daley - £15 million (06/06/12 - 12:22)
dammit_chris - Sebastien Taofifenua - £11 million (06/06/12 - 12:04)
Steven_Sharks - Iain Henderson - £5 million (06/06/12 - 11:34)
Ozzy3213 - Dewaldt Duvenage - £12 million (06/06/12 - 11:33)
prop_lyd - Eli Walker - £5 million (06/06/12 - 08:49)

Re: Foreign Transfers
The summer window should also be run until later to give people the chance to see who they will lose for the World Cup.

Re: Foreign Transfers
yeah i think that would be fair enough driver mate. Say 1 transfer in the next few weeks but open the window again in july/august time ...need some time for players to bed in ... gives us all a chance to look at our squads see who we are losing and where we need tos strenghthen

Re: Foreign Transfers
As the off season is basically June, July and August, why not just say 1 transfer per month?

Re: Foreign Transfers
Should we also think of doing something along the lines of you have to get rid of an existing foreign player in your squad before signing a new foreign, as its normally the English players that go out of the team.

Re: Foreign Transfers
See what your saying Chris mate but in the longer run though that only helps out the sides with the better academys i.e Leicester, Glaws, Saints.
With the 5 eq rule we all have to have a good number of english in the squad to get a team out
or are you trying to find some way of getting saints back into the top 6?

Re: Foreign Transfers
Think it's 1 in June, 1 in July and 1 in August Mat,
Thought you were after one of the hookers, Strauss or Fourie? Was contemplating both of them myself as well. Strauss alongside big Coenie in the front row would be a good combination, they have been dynamite this Super Rugby season.
Elstadt is a good prospect, be interesting to see how he progresses.

Re: Foreign Transfers
I think he will eventually take over from bakkies.
As on my list of players I wanted was fourie or Strauss and elstadt. If it were 2 I would definitely bid on him
Prefer fourie to Strauss in terms of potential. Strauss is very good though and would work well with cooenie.
Decisions decisions

I know what you mean about decisions Mat, I have a list of 5 players that I want, and I know that others have an eye on a couple of them so it's weighing up which I want most and how much I am prepared to pay.

Re: Foreign Transfers
Afoa covers prop and hooker stnick so that is a bonus for him, although the downside to that is he may make the AB World Cup squad because of it.

Re: Foreign Transfers
afoa has been quality this season and is probably a better player, but Nel has been on form and will be available during WC. tough one.

Thought so mate. Think we might have very similar looking transfer lists somehow!
Would prefer Afoa personally nick mate but as pete says he may well be gone for the world cup

I think you could be right mate. I think that's a good reason why doing 1 a month rather then 3 straight away is a fair system as it means one team can't just buy up all the best players.

Re: Foreign Transfers
Prop - I dont think he will count as a foreign bid either, as my understanding is that you can bring in English players from abroad durin gthe foreign transfer window and not have it count as a foreign. We've done it with guys like Goode, and a host of English players from France. Would double check with Driver though...

Re: Foreign Transfers
Chris is correct. EQ players playing abroad have alwys had to be bid on but have never counted as a 'foreign' signing.

No you bid for him here prop, but he doesn't count as a foreign signing against your allocation of 3 in the summer.

Re: Foreign Transfers
prop, you can bid for Morgan and bid for a 'foreign' player for June as well mate. I suspect you may see some competition for Morgan now that i have advertised this point.
