Ashes T2: Lords, Starc and Cowans dropped
First topic message reminder :
Harris and Khwaja in.
Aus's bowling depth is so good that they can drop who was rated to be their top fast bowler without blinking an eyelid.

What a bizarre dismissal! He probably didn't review because Watson wasted one. Still, it's out and Swann has a wicket. 50/2.

Swann's letting standards slip - took till his second over to get the wicket...

Re: The Ashes, Second Test Lord's
Well, that was an odd one.
Swann gets Rogers with one of the worst deliveries he's ever likely to bowl...an absolute gimme. It was so bad he was embarrassed to celebrate the wicket.
Anyhow, Australia are 50-2.
And just to rub salt into the wounds, Hawkeye shows the ball was actually missing the stumps.

Not out either. Watson has cost his team 2 wickets.

Hughes in at 4 instead of Clarke.
Read somewhere that Clarke averages around 65 batting at 5.

Better to be lucky than good. Fortunately for England, Swann is both - biggest golden arm bowler we've had since Botham.

Reliable Tim keeps one end quiet, something Finn can't do, while Swann attacks the other.

Now Trott has dropped a sitter which would have really put England on top.

Dear oh dear...looks like the Aussies are a bit rattled.
Hughes with a big swish and miss, England appeal. Umpire raises the finger but Hughes reviews immediately.

Exactly. If he was sure he wasn't out, he should have reviewed.

And Hughes is given out!
Australia are 53-3 and out comes skipper Clarke who will need to steady the ship.

Great stuff from an England perspective. You have to hope now that Clarke goes to a terrible decision, and he's stood there waiting for a review that'll never come

Good grief...now Clarke is nearly run-out. Very sharp fielding from England but he just made his ground.

Heh. Its a little early to be getting cocky but England couldn't have hoped for a much better start.
Just need to keep the Aussie batting stifled to build up pressure and force more mistakes.

Re: The Ashes, Second Test Lord's
I'm with mysti here, looks like a slight mark on Hughes's bat as (and where) the ball passes? Hughes clearly hasn't felt the nick, hence why he reviewed straightaway, but all the evidence pointing to a slight edge for me...

Re: The Ashes, Second Test Lord's
I have a feeling Khawaja and Clarke could make hay for the next couple of hours. The ball will be going/have gone soft and the pitch will probably deaden for a while as it appeared to yesterday.
Also our bowlers will begin to tire. Reckon the recovery is on and the next wicket will be a while coming.

Has been another interesting day so far...good right now for England but Clarke is really the Big Wicket...they will want him out before they will be feeling too chirpy , on this beautiful pitch.

England batted poorly.
This is somehow on another level. Poor Clarke.
Smith looked in good touch at TB tbf.

This is an awful display of batting. Its a caricature of the art! At least the top six took the shine off the ball. Time for the real batsman to get in
