First topic message reminder :
I like the new Cardiff RFC Shirt! Sorry I mean Cardiff Blues!
Its a nice shirt and will sale well.
http://www.cardiffblues.com/news/6462.php
I also like Leicesters shirt that they released before the Prem final last season, Canterbury are doing some nice shirts at the moment.

Agree like the away kit, like Munkian says it reminds me of the old Man U kit.
Also the change of sponsor from discount tyres to eteach makes a big difference to both jerseys.

Nice - not as subtle or classical as last year's anniversary edition with all of the Welsh club names but Kooga seem to actually be able to design things worth wearing.Cari wrote:New O's jersey...

I have a lot of hope for Macron producing a fleece that's better looking than the Canterbury stuff that makes you look like a geography teacher on Dress Down Friday.

Poor.
The innovative thing about this is that Cardiff announce not only their new kit, but a new dummy half as well.
[ed]Must say I like this though. http://store.leicestertigers.com/stores/tigers/products/product_details.aspx?pid=122049
With no silly sponsor's logo/billboard, I'd feel a lot happier.
As my old shirt still carries Bradstone emblazoned across it and needs replacing, I might just invest even if at first glance I may look as though I'd be reviving an old shirt of hurt challenge by posing as a Bath/Cardiff fan.
[ed2] It gets even better. The back has the Leicester Arms (not the pub) picked out subtly on the back. A reference to the old club badge before the professional era and its Tigers head abortion.

Nice looking kit. A bit more subdued than many, but to me a bit more classy.George Carlin wrote:Nice - not as subtle or classical as last year's anniversary edition with all of the Welsh club names but Kooga seem to actually be able to design things worth wearing.Cari wrote:New O's jersey...

Leicestrians is what I call 'em, doc. I don't know if I'm right though although this is better discussed on the Tigers' thread (which I'll do tout'suite).

I don't know if other clubs sell training kit as well. But got to say I think I prefer the new Quins training tops to their new home kit.

A nice touch that. I suppose theres no chance of a Tigers supporters shirt with the old school coloured stripes is there? That brighter shade of green seems to have disappeared.

I don't know why there is no retro replica kit with the asymmetric stripes and the old lime green being used.
If I was an entrepreneur, I'd be having them made up by a local supplier and be flogging them in Leicester market and other outlets. I might need to acquire permission from the council for the City's crest rights, but so far as I'm aware there's no copyright issue on it. I doubt that image rights due to the club would be a problem although judging by the RFUvCockers case, they appear to be getting the taste for blood in litigation...

Re: New Kits 2013/14 season
I am surprised too, or at least surprised that the club themselves havent produced one.
Last season Bath had a couple of non sponsored traditional striped cotton jersey for supporters called the 'hertitage' range. They have been pretty popular I think and had the added bonus of not being puma products.
I would think there is a market for a similar thing in Leicester, as well as the likes of Gloucester and Northampton, who have seen their traditional hoops/stripes played about with.
However that would mean less punters buying the new shirt, so maybe thats why they dont go for that.

Re: New Kits 2013/14 season
Just out of interest, whom do people think make the (a) most visually appealling and (b) best quality kits?
If I was to provide a shortlist of something like:
1. Canterbury (England, Springboks, Tigers, Leinster, etc)
2. Adidas (All Blacks, NZ Super franchises, Pumas)
3. Nike (France, Toulon, Toulouse)
4. Rhino (Barbarians)
5. Under Armour (Wales, Clermont)
6. Kooga (Wallabies, Spreys, Scarlets, Cherries, Quins)
7. Puma (Ireland, Bath)
9. Macron (Scotland, Edinburgh)
10. BLK (Aussie Super franchises),
how would people rate them?

Sorry to have troubled you Portnoy.
There's a Fishing section to 606v2 too.
Why don't you pop over there too and tell them that you don't give a feic about fishing either?

Re: New Kits 2013/14 season
Put it this way George, the thing about branding is to create a more inelastic demand through product differentiation. By implication, team replica shirts are sold on the basis of side affiliation rather than manufacturer.
Presumably the shirt (etc) is either designed on behalf of the team or chosen by it from a selection proffered by the manufacturer, with only the sponsor kit logo (three stripes, brace of kiwis, trois bandes, tick etc.) being the conditional sacrifice as the team has been induced financially as a quid pro quo for it's kit supplier to sell their replica stuff to the public.
So long as the shirt lasts more than a couple of washes and they don't feel extorted, I can't see why any rational fan would give a flying fk either.

You're particularly angry today, Portnoy.
My point was rather that the clue to the subject matter of this thread was very much in the subject line and so to the extent that you don't care about it, I'm not sure why you'd spend time denigrating it. I don't think that anyone is suggesting it's the most important topic on these boards but similarly being disrespectful to the OP is always a niche area for appeal.

On that basis, George, surely I'm perfectly spot on both on keeping up with the discussion and debate.
p.s. I like a spot of carp fishing - Shimano reels, more bespoke rods and (of course) barbless hooks.

Re: New Kits 2013/14 season
I just ordered the "Leicester Tigers Double Stripe Rugby Jersey - Long Sleeved - Graystone/Baltic Blue Price: £55.00 " I mentioned earlier on Amazon. £20.48 delivered.
I'll be back (as will the shirt) if it's rubbish quality.
Update: I've bought three (+1 each of my brothers) for virtually the same price as one (delivered) by the Tigers.

Re: New Kits 2013/14 season
Not sure about Cnaterbury being top of the pile. I think they make the best gear generally, but a few seasons back when they had the stripe above for the chest for every international kit they made, it looked awful, as if they were working on a blueprint and using microsoft paint to fill in the colour. Really cheap.
South Africa had the kit, as did others, but it's too much effort to find it, and it turns out I don't know how to insert photos so feck it.

Great to see the shower back in the fearsome hoops.
Now it poses a good complete the statement opportunity : Thatchers ???????.
Don't sign a player called Britten or Society....
What if they signed Dan Cole or Danny Care?

I didn't get the last season's Dragon's shirt - probbably would've if we sponsored by Dildos R Us
I still love my 2011 one - the collar is much better than the new shorts coming out
That said, I'll get one of the new shirts. Not sure about the away one - a little French for my liking

I saw that. The POW's feathers on the back look more like the fleur de lys to my eye. Still I expect that their players would like a little more French attention

It's not meant to be the Prince of Wales's feathers, Portnoy - it's a fleur de lis from the crest of the old kingdom of Gwent.

Personally I don't mind the look of it, well from the back, I haven't seen the front yet.

Munkian - I have a feeling the home shirt will be red.

Re: New Kits 2013/14 season
saying that our away kit last season was dark brown, so munkian might be onto something.

Chocolate, not brown! To be honest I hope we keep the dragon shadow effect on the shirts, I really like that. But unless we go back to a dark blue (or maybe green) away jersey there will be ice cubes hanging from satans nuts before I buy one of those Chocolate, away shirts

If rumours of the panda pregnancy are true, Embra should rush out a special edition shirt.
Named after the new arrival, it should be called the Ker Ching.
(Based on a comment by Nicky Campbell on R5 this morning.)

Some do, munk, some don't - Exe always change their European one, and alternate on changing the home and away strip year on year (altho in reality the alterations to those tend to be small, and hence non ruinous to parents!)munkian wrote:Don't most rugby clubs change their kit season to season ?
Fans don't HAVE to buy it

I bought the home one, but then I tend to most seasons (buying the away first this season though) and also got the cup one when the price came down near the end of the season. Not really sure why I got it (think I blagged it off the wife for my birthday) as I quite liked the last home one I bought from season 10-11.ScarletSpiderman wrote:Did anyone?Luckless Pedestrian wrote:I didn't buy last season's either.
Definitely buying the away one as I have said, as I am a massive fan of what it is supposed to stand for (more regional).

Yes, because it doesn't strictly please everybody of a Newport persuasion.Cardiff Dave wrote:"supposed to stand for"?Risca Rev wrote:I bought the home one, but then I tend to most seasons (buying the away first this season though) and also got the cup one when the price came down near the end of the season. You're not wrong there. I saw the new Dragons home shirt in the 'flesh' on Saturday. It looks better than it does in photos. I haven't bought it yet because I presume we'll get a voucher for money off in the shop and the vouchers aren't ready yet.
