Last minute change. Lee "can't catch, won't catch" Jones is out and Tom Brown is in. Atiga has taken his place on the bench.
Re: New Edinburgh and Glasgow Teams Thread - 2013/2014
Though Atiga was injured?
Jeez - imagine how slow a half injured Atiga will be!

Re: New Edinburgh and Glasgow Teams Thread - 2013/2014
Hogg has been brilliant since joining us...but i cant see him getting back into the Scotland squad...though as i say he has been in imperious form.
Theres loads to be interested here from a Falcons point of veiw. How does our (fast)two openside policy go against what i imagine will be a larger Edinburgh back row.
And has Brookes at TH been kept off the Nando's and put through his paces during the summer.
Last seasons meeting Edinburgh didnt turn up...but this could be a crackin game.

Great to see Cusiter back in action! All be it from the bench.
Re: New Edinburgh and Glasgow Teams Thread - 2013/2014
Lets have a sweep
I reckon Cusiter will come on around the 60 min mark. What time do you think he will come off?

Warriors announcing their soon; I would like to see...
1.Coo
2.Gillies
3. Yanuyanu
4.Niko's mate
5. Harley (but it'll probably be Ryder)
6.Holmes
7.Fozzy
8. Vernon
9.Henry
10.Ruaridh
11DTH
12 Angel Gabriel
13:angel:
14Schlong
15 Murchie
The possibility of a back row of Nakawara, Vernon and Fozzy is mouth-watering in terms of pace and attacking potential, will we ever see it? Mind you that set of backs isn't too shabby either.
I think selection will probably be on the basis of rotation so everyone in the squad gets a chance to impress, so 7,12,13 &15 could be up for grabs. Also, I think last week the performance was more important than the result : I think tomorrow will be about slapping Exeter down and gaining a psychological edge on them.

Oh well, typing your predicted line-up while the actual one is being announced = lots of egg on face.
Wight and McGuigan starting again; Toonie is giving them every chance to avoid a one way trip to MFL-land.
How many of this XV will start the opening game of the season?

Ach don't worry Jimbo, yours is exactly the back line I wanted see, though possibly excepting Wacko Jacko on grounds of his crookness.

I don't mind Brown, but he's a 15 rather than a winger.

RV is better as an impact sub, where his extreme pace can really make a difference.AsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:Only s tired as your new favourite, centre cum something, RVfunnyExiledScot wrote:Has Bennett been dropped already?? I'm just surprised that Townsend doesn't want his first choice centre pairing, Dunbar and Bennett, to start together pre-season as much as possible.

This allows Dunbar to move out to 13, which I think is where his Scotland future may well lie. Or Dunbar-Schlong/ Mind you, when he isn't being a world class 10 Hoggy is also a brilliant 13. Then there's the angel Gabriel. could be behind Murchie in the pecking order too. oh, obviously Vernon too. (I'm only doing this so our friends in the Library can cry into their claret at our riches)

I'm not surprised at all, tbh - Bennett has had two starts, Schlong only one appearance off the bench - so the latter obviously needs match time before the season starts. will come off the bench in the second half - makes perfect sense to mefunnyExiledScot wrote:RV is better as an impact sub, where his extreme pace can really make a difference.AsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:Only s tired as your new favourite, centre cum something, RVfunnyExiledScot wrote:Has Bennett been dropped already?? 1. Interesting to hear that an avid Glasgow fan such as yourself believes Bennett to be so far down the pecking order. I had understood that he was the greatest rugby talent Scotland had ever known. Seems not.
2. Claret? I wouldn't put the stuff on my thrice cooked gastro-pub chips.

The one before claret is Bordox, you know makes your lips go numb and after a few pints your facial muscles stop responding and your expression remains glazed whatever anyone tries to say to you.

The best wine deal going when I was at uni was the Co-op 1.5 litre bottle of Soave - £4.20. Ideal for BYOB.
I've often wondered if Lee Jones drinks a whole one of those before running onto the pitch....

Although the more I see the Edinburgh line-up the more I think Stuart McInally's decision to move to 2 is plain mental, both in terms of squad balance and the likelihood of him actually playing this season.
McInally could have made the 6 shirt his own this season, irrespective of whether he had exactly the right build for it or preferred playing 8.
On another note, what do people think of Bordill and Watson as our future options at 7? Do people rate them? Or are we hoping that Sale and Leicester saw something special and the SRU have picked up some bargains for the EDP?
Not seen much of Watson, but looks promising similar to Rennie in style. It still annoys me that the player who was meant to get Watsons place at Edinburgh was Alec Spence who played for the u20s the same time at Watson. Suffered a couple of bad injuries after being rushed back by the SRU and missed out on the contract after initially being offered it. Spence would have been a great 7 and would have been pushing for the Scotland 7 jersey shortly. Great talent who was poorly mismanaged by the sru, played for the Gael force at 17 but broke his ankle playing for them, rushed back and suffered repeated hamstring injuries and then shoulder injuries due to the SRU overworking him.

Where's Alex Spense now Majestic? He was listed as a Regional Academy Player in 2011? Is he still at Heriots?nickj wrote:Cheers Majestic:thumbsup:Majestic83 wrote:Bordill looks pretty good when i have seen him play. I know we're a miserable bunch but I'm actually delighted to see Edinburgh, Glasgow and Scotland really trying new things and trying to get more exposure for the game. Even the snood video I think is great - they are at least trying to engage with the fans and come up with new initiatives.GLove39 wrote:Video here of Dominic McKay blabbing on about the SRU's new video output but more importantly is that padded seats in the stand I see?????
Just think back to a few years ago when there was next to nothing coming out of the SRU, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

HALF-TIME: Edinburgh Rugby 9-0 Newcastle Falcons - controlled display from the men in black, 3/3 Laidlaw kicks earns the lead

In other news Edinburgh 9-0 at half time. Sounds like Edinburgh are the better team with some positive play, but knock ons and finals passes letting them down.
Roddy Grant off injured, as is VDV with a serious sounding injury.

Edinburgh seem to be aggressive and committed in defense... what is this witchcraft?!

I'll be worried if we don't score a try this game though, considering we didn't score a try last week.
Sounds like there's been plenty attacks, just silly knock ons

Well FES the attendance at Mansfield park has been announced as 4035 - reckon we would have got that at Murrayfield??

Don't get me wrong RDW, pleased that the SRU are trying out new things with social media. Not least cause it might give me a chance to work for them again!
But what I was really wondering is in the video the seats around McKay look padded. Now I've sat all around Murrayfield, but don't ever recall padding?

Ach put that down to change in coach/beginning of season etc... it should improve, I mean like I still remember a time when Glasgow were known for grinding out wins rather than clobbering teams 5 tries to nil. It'll come back, nae worries!RDW_Scotland wrote:I'll be worried if we don't score a try this game though, considering we didn't score a try last week.
