Scotland's new kit - grand reveal at noon
Well today's the day ladies and gentlemen, Scotland's new home and away kits are going to be released, time to find out what Macron are really like. So figured we'll need a thread where we can come over all Gok Wang and critically asses the stylistic merits...
From the teaser images the SRU have shared on twitter we know that the home kit is the standard dark blue / navy and similarly the away is the traditional white. The latter is a relief as I'd had nightmares that Macro might have tried to copy the orange monstrosity from 1999 http://www.talksport.co.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/ts_magazine_big_picture/51501216.jpg
So hopefully the new kits will be decent and won't feature fools gold trim as was the case with our last home strip or neon yellow and red sleeves http://www.rbs6nations.com/images/galleries/73410834.jpg
If Macron produce something like the 2006 shirt or the 2010 shirt I'll be very happy...

I still think the Scott's should wear tartan.

Been done before by our Wendyball team http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/international/scotland/photos/scotland-euro96.jpg don't think we should copy them tbh.
Re: Scotland's new kit - grand reveal at noon
Now what you haven't mentioned is that the kit has been designed by a member of the public! They ran a competition and the winner has seen their design become reality - we could end up with something very "interesting" if they have decided to reward creativity!
Here are some designs that didn't quite make it:

I love how a lot of these seem to have been done in art class by young children.
The Red Kite should have been called Kes and a video from the League of Gentlemen to release it.

I'm strangely optimistic, the guy who designed it was at the least a graphic designer... perhaps it was all an elaborate PR stunt and they actually paid a guy to design it rather than choosing Leslie Law's erratic effort

Robert Wightman's effort is astonishing in it's complete lack of the traditional colours and the fact it has an actual map of Scotland on the back

Haha, other posters would have a field day if the likes of Denton, Visser & Maitland wore that. "point to their place of birth..." they'd scream.

I quite like the Richard Gray one (big Richie?), the purple one isn't a complete disaster too.
The rest on the other hand....

Heres the 7's strips https://twitter.com/scotlandteam/status/362890715816136706 home one looks a bit purpleish?

The new kit is sensible and doesn't look rank!

Indeed, a more traditional look and thankfully not purple.

A little boring, but all and all I'm happy with it.
So the winning idea was essentially blue with a navy collar?? Inspired!

I'm hoping that the collar will be like the way Macron normally do their rugby collars - i.e. like this one:
rather than the stupid sticky uppy Lions one.
Seems to be from the pic but it's hard to tell.
That way, there's a real danger you could actually wear it as a leisure t shirt.

They're also doing a 'traditional' shirt for people who are old as Asbo and/or who aren't quite the physical specimen that Radge is:

I like the new kit but I hate the parading it around like a fashion show. "This sir is a rugby match not a cattle sale." James Aiken-Smith former president of the Scottish Football Union

Will there be a new away one or are we stuck with the current monstrosity?

Looks like a similar collar to the lions jersey but flatter to the neck and not as sticky uppy (is that a word?)

Feck, they look freezing cold. Worst publicity shot in history (not counting the impaled Springbok). Official pic on DRU website now: http://www.scottishrugby.org/homeRDW_Scotland wrote:Better image here

So long as there's a 14-year-old kid's version to fit my distance runner's physique. #streamlined

There's got to be a new change kit, it's a different manufacturer! Weird that they haven't unveiled it along with the others!

Judging by the snapshot of the woven badges that were leaked before, it's going to be exactly the same as the home one, except in white with the contrast panels and detailing in navy or purple.Pat_Mustard wrote:RDW_Scotland wrote:Will there be a new away one or are we stuck with the current monstrosity?

I actually really like it, finally some sense. Classic kits are always the best. Might even be tempted to purchase this one - my 1990 replica jersey is getting snug.....

Maybe they've designed a special training top for players who are regularly mucked about and played out of position.....

this picture seems to show a bit of faint detailing under the arms and the text mentions "The traditional thistle design that featured on the 1990 Grand Slam winning jersey will be subtly embossed on the back"

Some more pics from Facebook. I think that anything purple is the 7s kit or something from the training range. No way you'd make an away strip that's so close in colour to your home one. Budgie desperately needs a haircut.

Looks fine to me. I just wish they didn't have the annoying flappy collar! I've enjoyed the last few years of not having to iron any rugby jerseys but those days are passed now and in the past they must remain
