New 24 hour boxing channel coming soon
A new channel called Fightnow will provide 24 hours of Boxing and MMA, 7 days a week from May 26th.
It will be available through cable and Satellite companies in the US. Pretty sure its going to be available via the net.
Learn't about it through the Billy C Radio show - his show ill appear on there.
Thought, I'd let you box nuts know.

Re: New 24 hour boxing channel coming soon
Sounds good, Rob. Thanks for the tip.
Do you know if the channel will confine itself to the modern game, or if it will also have historical content ? Also, can we rely on you to drop us links if it should become available online ?
Thanks.

Re: New 24 hour boxing channel coming soon
Is there enough quality content to fill such a channel 24/7, or will it be padded by dross, repeats and documentaries?

I'm afraid I don't, Scott.
Living, as I do, on mainland Europe I don't have Sky, either. I get a ridiculous amount of channels via cable but very little stuff that is any good for boxing, which is why I miss out on so many good domestic scraps and have to rely on you fellas to keep me in the loop until the fights get uploaded to youtube.

ESPN Classic is pretty good Scott, don't know about you but I do get a bit frustrated with it. There are rumours they bought Cayton and Jacobs film collection some years ago so have nigh on every fight ever filmed in their collection but still feel compelled to show the Rumble in the Jungle every other day. Pity really because when they actually show some imagination they show some belting stuff

Re: New 24 hour boxing channel coming soon
Yeah way too much is Ali poetry, 'Who is the Greatest Heavyweight: Ali or Tyson', 'What did Ali have for breakfast?' but guess like every channel they have to get ratings. Seen a lot of good fights and discussion too, they did about 3 hours on SRR not long ago with footage from his European tour and quite a few other fights. Dave Robinson (his biographer), Bert Sugar etc

If he lives in Venine i'm going to assume Windy looks like:

With the whole pimped slick back hair etc
For some reason i associate that with Venice

I have Windy down as looking more like:
http://gangster-movies.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/gangster-movies-the-godfather-brando.jpg
I can imagine him sat on the front porch of his house, smoking a cigar, with a laptop to continue spreading his boxing knowledge!

Somewhere 'twixt yours and coxy's would be closer to the mark, mate. Of course, if you ask my long suffering and loyal wife she'll tell you that I'm a hybrid of Jim Corbett, James Dean and Brad Pitt.
Trouble is, she doesn't like any of them.

Absolutely brilliant!
Re: New 24 hour boxing channel coming soon
ESPN classic ran a series called classic fights and one of them was Maywehing vs Gatti a proper one sided win for the Money man.

I believe they bought the lot, a lot of the older fights i buy are recorded from the channel but have to admit i've never seen them on in this country. Word on the street is they don't want to release too much as collectors will just record off the tv, and i suppose after years of doing that their collection would be worthless.

Hi guys, I only know the launch date and that they will be showing the Billy C show on a 90 minute segment.
I've asked Billy if he knows anymore and in particular whether it will be available via the net as I presume the cable channels it'll be on will be in North America.
Will post when I know more.

Sadly, I think it is North America only. Though Chanel Zero (which is the owner) is on freeview in the UK.
Billy said he's gonna stream the channel so that the UK can watch but maybe he could be restricted. Either way I'm sure it will get streamed if they have the viewers.
