Reverse Linear Theory
As today seems to be "Re-visit old articles from BBC 606" day, I thought I would offer up for your perusal my famous Reverse Linear Series.
Enjoy.
The “Reverse Linear” series was a collection of threads inspired by the question ‘what if it had gone the other way?’, examining how different the history of the sport would be if the other guy had won.
The series began with the Heavyweight division, tracking the ‘Reverse Linear’ title first won (lost?) by John L Sullivan in 1885.
Reverse Linear Heavyweight Title (Part 1) - http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A72349266
Part 1 tracked the title through to 1920, and inspired by the lukewarm response I persevered and posted Part 2, which covered the period 1920 – 1968.
Reverse Linear Heavyweight Title (Part 2) - http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A72356925
A small amount of encouragement was all I needed (luckily, as that was all I got), and I ploughed on with Part 3, 1968 – Present Day.
Reverse Linear Heavyweight Title (Part 3) - http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A72359535
So there it was, three articles covering 125 years of reverse boxing history, from John L Sullivan through to the current Reverse Linear Heavyweight Title holder, Mexican light-welterweight Joel Gonzalez.
I was now bitten by the Reverse Linear bug, and work hadn’t picked up much, so I decided to track the Reverse Linear P4P Title. This was a little more complicated, as P4P ranking is purely subjective.
Reverse Linear P4P Title (Part 1) - http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A73060625
It wasn’t going well, and in Part 2 things collapsed completely.
Reverse Linear P4P Title (Part 2) - http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A73096158
A different approach was needed, so I based the next thread on the Ring Magazine P4P Title.
Reverse Linear Ring Magazine P4P Title - http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A73099678
That didn’t go particularly well either, so I made one last effort...
Reverse Linear Ring Magazine P4P Title 2 - http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A73135145
By this point I had realised that I was never going to repeat the heady success of the original Heavyweight threads, so rather than continue to rage against the dying of the light, I put the concept of ‘Reverse Linearness’ to bed.
Enjoy.

I like these, also, and it's good to revisit them.

I applaud the time and effort you put into these Union but they always made me think 'what the hell was that?'
Any classic caption competitions you'd like to revisit by the way?

Good evening sir! How is the people's republic? Have you introduced them to the merits of space invaders yet?

That was the general idea!
Every Caption Competition was a classic, but the Klitschko Bros one and the Gary Mason trilogy stand out for me.

The People's Rebublic is all good Sean. They know all about space invaders here, although the new Master System is starting to leave the Atari 2600 somewhat obsolete.
Perhaps I could think about importing some maize-based snacks for them to munch on while they're playing Alex Kidd. Any ideas?

Re: Reverse Linear Theory
Revived for the benefit of Super D Boon, who seems to have never come across the concept before.

Re: Reverse Linear Theory
I've been busy today for a change and don't know if I can comprehend all that but will try on Monday. I'm sure it's very good.
