Welcome to Season 6 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1991.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Structured Window
No cash will be used and each team will get effectively free transfers by way of a draft, which will run 12th, 11th, 10th …… 1st, 12th, 11th,10th… 1st place side. This will run from 10th June 2013 until all teams have had their two picks.
Open Window
Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them. Teams may only bid for one player at a time.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Saturday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box. If you are not providing a descriptive prediction you will be restricted to predicting a 1 point win either way.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
At least 10 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

That was because you released Bonnaire when he said he was retiring and got compo for him. He never actually retired as a Gloucester player.
Pre season loads on the rugby board were hailing Ryan as some sort of messiah and saying that Worcester would do alright. I got pretty much laughed at when I said their squad was the weakest in the league.

If you don't release are they still yours ? Well done could be a great signing.
Wuss
Weak in key positions which will kill them. Between them and falcons. Falcons have the advantage of home
Where it always is a crime against rugby due

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Falcons look to have a lot more fight about them than Worcester, and like you say, conditons at Kingston Park can be a great leveller.
Worcester probably need a minimum 6 wins from their remaining 15 league games and it is tough to see where they will get them from. They still have to play Saracens, Saints, Tigers, Sale, Gloucester, Chiefs and Wasps at home. I dont see them beating the big three, and the other four will be tough enough.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Individually I think Worcester have some very good players, but they lost far too many players before the season started and they aren't gelling at all, butcher good attacking positions and defensively all over the place - think they will get a bit better now they has their 3 Argentinian's back, but can't see them catching Falcons, who have been quite impressive at times this season, have some good young English players there - is it Mark Wilson in the backrow, he looks a good player.
Mat, if the weathers that bad then I think we should beat you, Young has got us some pretty good forwards, still a bit light in front row at times but best pack we've had since winning HC.

England look great round fringe. Aus dont seem great in attack. Ashton should of dropped back and forced the pass so he could bundle him into touch. Touchline is the 16th defender.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Much improved 2nd half performance, very rusty though. As soon as we got level Aus started doubting themselves.
Genia was terrible for Aus, he's got to be dropped for White. Folau was always a threat but we dealt well with him.
Dickson & 36 were awful, Youngs throwing all over the place. Dicksons pass from the base was so so bad.
Youngs changed the tempo and Hartley sured up the lineout. Billy V and Brown were great, Brown especially was unreal.
We've got to do something with the midfield in time for AB's.

100 percent agree pooly. Genia had a mare but is also not helped by having hardy at 6. He gets no protection. Hardy is a second row and it
Shows.
Watching it live shows you how poor Yarde is positionally. Greenwood on rugby club says he has it all but that part and I agree. Looks a strong player but from up high you could see him out of position by 10-20 metres some times. Nz would have killed it.
36 and Tom Youngs were dire.
Genia went from sublime vs Argentina to awful today.
Lawes put in a shift and Tomkins ok apart from boshed by Kurindrani.
I still want Lancaster out at all costs. Jake white all the way

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Hartley and Ben Youngs have to start, made a huge difference today - Tom Youngs basics just aren't good enough at times, but when you've only played hooker for 3 years or so it understandable.
That was Brown's best game for England by some distance, was immense today - along with Lawes, Wood, Robshaw and Vunipola in the pack - Launchbury put a pretty good shift in too. Thought Tomkins was excellent on debut, was a rock in defence, just didnt see too much in attack, wasn't too sure about Yarde, still looks very raw.
Good to see Farrell come back in 2nd half too as he had a bad first half.
Definite issues at 12 for us though, Twelvetrees doesnt look like he's the guy to sort us out there - wonder if he'll get another chance next week or whether Lancaster will go for Burrell.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Youngs was ok but throwing shocking, why keep calling to the tail when you can't nail it (line out leader???)
Mako & Billy allow others in the pack to play, really impressed with the pack, Lawes and Launchbury were awesome. Chris needs to spread the love a bit I think.
I though Ben Youngs was great when he came on, has to start.
I'm unsure if its a defensive tactic having Yarde come infield. Brown always had the wing covered, it's like we're filling the midfield and hoping it doesn't get out.
Midfield needs sorting, with who or what though?!?!

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
If you have a hooker who can't throw to the tail at international level though it is a worry for me. Think Youngs is better placed as impact player off bench. Hartley made a big difference and lineout such a good attacking platform.
No idea who we can bring in at 12 and change the midfield - Burrell is a good player but don't think he is ready for international games yet. Can only recall Twelvetrees having one good game for England and that was against SCotland last year. Not sure who else there is - could see Lancaster starting FLood there next week.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Burrell is the only other real option, he'll certainly bring some go forward from 12 as in great form unlike 36.
I'd prefer a form option, asking players in poor form to step up is hard.
If Lawes was calling he should have called to the front to secure ball, somebody in commentary said Wood was calling.

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Tail ball is key to line out if you can't hit it should not be playing. Youngs lost a few balls in contact.
Lawes was calling apparently. All of radio shows pre game said wood would. From the stands looked like lawes was running it.
He should have called a few front balls to help Youngs but the areas or the pitch needed middle or back. Youngs throwing in is a crap shoot. Not a fan.always say basics are key.
Wilson must be challenging for a start.
Much better scrummager than cole but does not offer the workrate.
Some of Coles pitch coverage today was exceptional

Re: Season 6 Homepage I
Think Wood and Lawes mixed it up with the calling.
Really rate Wood, does so much work around the pitch and breakdown. Thought Vunipola's carrying took a lot of pressure off Robshaw who had a great game for us today, don't think I really heard the commentators mention Hooper at all, which shows how well Robshaw did.
Burrell is in really good form and the link up with the other Saints players would be good for England - will certainly be interesting to see what Lancaster does now, we've got a really good defence but just didn't have any backline moves or breaks that really stood out.

9-13 were poor in attack, still early days though.
Some of the passing was shocking mind.
Dickson showed he's a club player imo, I wish we'd stop bringing him in.

Agree with you there Mat.
I like what Tom YOungs brings around the park and has a great work rate, but huge shift in the game when Hartley came on, first throw was quick ball off the back and got us going forward.
Ben Youngs has to start next week, was really putting us on the front foot - overall a really good effort considering first game we've played in a while. Wish we got Ashton into a bit more space though, seem to be wasting him the way we are playing

Very good mate. Some good runs and a great delayed pass for tagicakibau try. Despite losing we actually played quite well just few too many penalties given away.

Right guys i'm back in action and fully ready to do some deals.
I'm also curious as to how people would rate Luke Marshall outside Aaron Cruden? I usually pick Barritt there as a big hitter in the middle and can cover Crudens workload in defence a bit.
In a ideal work SBW would be getting ready to play super rugby and he'd be my 12 but that went to pot.

Yeh Marshall would be 3rd choice out of that trio. Quite like your idea of Barritt there as a defensive leader. Need a creative or pacey 13 outside him though ideally.
