Remembering Ricky Hatton v Floyd Mayweather
In another thread I suggested Hatton made a better go of it than Canelo in his fight and Terror threw his toys out of the cot.
I had a look at a video which shows the 1st, part of the 9th and 10th round of the fight. Around 6 mins in total.
Whatever you think about Hatton he made Floyd earn his money. Canelo just looked like a lead footed punch bag. He was too big for Floyd to knock out though.
It's interesting watching Hatton's footwork. See what you think.

Canelo landed far more punches than Hatton and wasn't getting battered around the ring. Hatton tried hard but he came well short.

Who cares bro? What Hatton and Canelo got in COMMON? Money SCHOOLED both of them. Unbeaten number 1 at 140 and Unbeaten number 1 at 154. Both top pound for pound. Have some RESPECT and APPRECIATION for Mayweathers TALENT. Once in a LIFETIME fighter.

Canelo landed little and was punched up as convincingly as Hatton. I posted the video for a reason.

One of the worst performances in a mega fight I've ever seen. The guy didn't try, was counting the dough and hiding but he still got beat up.TRUSSMAN66 wrote:Can we look at merging some of this guys Floyd threads.........

Lead feet, slow hands, no defence no punching ability. Fair play to Floyd he's burst another hype bubble.

Canelo landed little but still landed far more than Hatton, if jumping in face first floats your boat then fair enough.

Hatton got KTFO. Punches landed 63/372 - 17%
Alvarez went to decision. Punches landed 117/526 - 22%
Both fighters SCHOOLED.

Trout is no great shakes. Cotto was supposed to beat him easy and blew it.
If Trout is his best win what did he do to deserve his shot against Mayweather? Nothing except be a huge hype machine that the leading voices of boxing in Mexico stated he was before the fight.
Floyd is a master of PR. Dud fight after dud fight and he can still sell the same story over and over again.

You're ridiculous, trout and Alvarez were the top two 154lbers in the world and quite where you've got the idea Cotto should have beaten him easily is anyone's guess.

Gotta love the HATERS. Schooling them and watching them BURN after Mayweather does the business is ALMOST as good as watching Money!

Cotto was 2/5 with the bookies. Were you the one saying it's easy to check things on the Internet before you post so why jump in?
I've been doing this all day and you've been nit picking and calling me names. I have to get something to eat now. The missus is at her parents so it's takeaway.

The bookies mean very little and when a box office star like Cotto is involved they get swayed. It's the boxing fans and experts who know the reality.

Re: Remembering Ricky Hatton v Floyd Mayweather
I saw Hatton spoil Mayweather until he got tired and lost a point.....Takes a lot of you to mug someone for 6 rounds.........Eventually Mayweather was allowed to work and dominated the fight..
I had a lot of respect for Ricky though.......gave it a good go and always gave his all......
Never thought he was ever going to win though..........
Charles williams - James Toney was a similar fight..........He tried to mug Toney but found it knackering too.

Re: Remembering Ricky Hatton v Floyd Mayweather
I thought Ricky was intent on roughing May up but Cortez was having none of it.
When Ricky got the hint and Floyd was allowed space to work it was 1 way traffic. Great performance from Floyd that night. Canelo is getting stick for not doing enough but people forget that was his game plan to be patient. Wrong game plan an it backfired.
Best way to beat Floyd is to score and run, score and run. Floyd would have to come looking for you. If you go looking for Floyd he will make you miss but make sure you take something back with you. All night he made Canelo miss and pay.
Terrific fighter. I seriously don't know where strongy is going with this criticize Floyd campaign.

Re: Remembering Ricky Hatton v Floyd Mayweather
I have not questioned Mayweathers ability anywhere. I am more looking at his opposite. Boris Karloff would have competition from Canelo for the role of The Mummy, lead feet, no work rate, no defence no punching ability. Hype job extraordinaire.ONETWOFOREVER wrote:I thought Ricky was intent on roughing May up but Cortez was having none of it.

By putting down Floyd's opponents constantly you are putting down Floyd himself. But then again you did the same to RJJ by claiming he ducked the hugely talented and dangerous Steve Collins.
You have previous boy.

If you say so. No doubt you will change your tune in due course as you always do.
Do you actually look at a goat's arse to see what it looks like? You have some weird pastimes then. But whatever floats your boat.

Canelo looked slow and ordinary etc...........Funny thing is a lot of opponents can only fight as well as they are allowed believe it or not..
I'm sure Liston wasn't as ordinary as Ali made him look.......
P**s poor stuff...........and enough already.........

That was exactly what I was thinking as I watched the fight play out yesterday. Masterclass fro Floyd, but Canelo simply could not have been more disappointing.

Floyd fights are always a disappointment. Some of it is due to his own brilliance but half the time the opponent never does what they say they are gonna do

I wonder why I come on here sometimes. Here's the formula for circa 50% of the forum:dangerous_mouse wrote:Great thread.
1) Az posts a few loaded and deliberately contrarian statements
2) One or more people get annoyed
3) Az patiently persists in his arguments, even sometimes contradicting himself to the point of delusion
4) All pleasure or interest is eventually gnawed out of the debate
5) Thread is locked or eventually runs out of fuel
6) Cycle is repeated
