Very good looking team. Every prettier than Leinster in fact, Jen. Six cents:
1. Delighted Angela is back. He's streets ahead of Kalman and was better than Low last season. In the absence of Cusack, I think that's our strongest front row.
2. Kalman played with all the nous of a runaway sofa last week. Would much prefer Shrek on the bench, truth be told. Jedi will cover lock - not ideal, but he can do it - he's done it for years.
3. I suspect Strauss is lacking a little fitness - happy with him as the ultimate impact sub. He will be a wrecking ball with 25 to go.
4. Where are Maitland and Big Naka?
5. Barry rewarded for pre-season form, justifiably too. Wight must be training better than Russell at the moment because apart from his reasonably good kicking doesn't offer much other than a chance to laugh at his toilet brush hair.
Leinster team looks good and the bench is crazily strong. Anyone know how Ross and O'Strauss are playing at the moment?

Can only think with Maitland playing a full SH season last year and coming straight into a full NH one that he is getting a few extra weeks off.George Carlin wrote:Very good looking team. Every prettier than Leinster in fact, Jen. Six cents:

Having seen both teams, I think I want to revise my initial prediction of a 30 point win for us:doh:

Leinster really do have some strength in depth. Its the likes of you and Munster that are really to blame for the HC falling apart.
Had you Irish just been like us Scots and Welsh and let the French and English, year in year out dominate the HC, they would not have taken the huff.

Risteard O'Streabhas scored a try in his first start last week. Little cracker he is.
Rosser is plodding along nicely getting to grips with the new scrum.
Benched in scarlets, started last week.

Warriors twitter feed saying that Cusack has had another surgery and is now out till at least the New Year. Kellock should be back for the HC.

That'll be over a year he has been sidelined. Hopefully, this new surgery will sort him out and he will be back sooner rather than later. He must be gutted, especially as a few months ago they were confident he would be back for the early part of the new season.Dorothy_Mantooth wrote:Warriors twitter feed saying that Cusack has had another surgery and is now out till at least the New Year. That's a blow regarding Cusack. Hopefully he'll get himself fully fit for the end of season run-in. Glasgow need him.
Great that the entire Glasgow pack is Scots qualified (and all the backs minus one). Really encouraging.

I'm also genuinely pleased that we're seeing Bennett emerging finally as a first choice starter for his club side. Finally we'll be able to take a proper look and make well informed judgments as to his readiness for international rugby. We're only two games in and, despite NDL's excellent individual score against Munster, I'd say Bennett is now the form option for Scotland at 13.
Another player who is getting some rugby now is Duncan Taylor at Sarries with Barritt out injured. Hopefully he'll get some decent playing time this season as well.
I think it's going to be a tough selection process for Scott Johnson in these AIs.

I should add duderinos, that I have succumbed to a horrible lurgy from The Zambesi and am now nocturnal only - this is nothing to do with Mrs Schiz saying how come you guys (and me natch) spend all (working ) day posting stuff on here. Honestly she actually said that. I mean canoe trip down a major African river ffs - how much more can you spoil a girl -jeez

Aye Ian, a few bottles of tasty TUSKER ale (African pure pish but gets you hammered) and I can assure you no sleep whatsoever - strap yersel to the lavvy and its take off time. Anyway whats all this bollix about Buckfast ? No self respecting Weegie would touch that schieze tbh ! Leave that English confection to the Lanarkshire lads. Pints and depth charges is what we do here in the city as you well know .
Anyway see The Meatball turns out for Stirling County on Saturday - good on ye wee man (ASBO will be well proud !!!!)

GC, i did take anti-MALARIALS in the form of tonic water diluted by Hendricks "Och Aye The Noo" gin from Ayrshire. Mind you after surviving the mega storm in the Bay of Biscay on Monday night I felt somewhat obliged to have a brace of stiffeners to thank the diety (?) for surviving- it was that bad.George Carlin wrote:Schiz - did you remember to take ani-malerials with you? Anyway powerful Leinster line up tonight - we will have to be at our best. Any idea why Tommy Seymour is not featuring ? Heard he scored a cracker v Cardiff a fortnight ago.

Game tonight is a total sell out. Hardly earth shattering news to wider Rugby community, but a couple of years ago we could barley break 3,000 for League games and that usually that relied on a large traveling support presence.

Cakeordeath, Schiz speaks the truth! Scotstoun is in a fairly residential area so no go on the watering hole front. If you arrive earlyish at the ground go to theGym Hall, or Scout Hut as it is sometimes called. It has a bar and reasonably priced, decent quality curries. You will recognise Schiz as he will be the elderly gentleman buying drinks for all and sundry while performing his latest mime; "Crossing the Bay on the bowl". he may even read from his dissertation, "Why Bluto is sexier than Angelina, but not as much fun in a ruck."
Good luck.

Don’t know about that, both are inconsistent, kick straight into touch, miss goal kicks and make mistakes –Piers is good in defence and makes the odd line break!AsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:Altho Wight would be a step-up from Two First Names tbh, RDWRDW_Scotland wrote:Sorry for getting back on Rugby weegies but looks like Finn Russell is staying where he is – Edinburgh Tweeted saying the rumours behind him being loaned to Edinburgh are false.

I’d never thought I’d defend him but I’d rather Piers over Wight, although saying that at least Wight is SQ.

What you guys sign a Scottish player? Can't see that happening, not really the done thing these days through your wayRDW_Scotland wrote:Sorry for getting back on Rugby weegies but looks like Finn Russell is staying where he is – Edinburgh Tweeted saying the rumours behind him being loaned to Edinburgh are false.
Hope that doesn’t mean we’re getting Scott Wight instead…!

be sure and ask him how many punters constitutes a full house at this time of year before getting too impressed.....asoreleftshoulder wrote:Great to hear that, you've a really good team there and they deserve to play in front of good crowds.Dorothy_Mantooth wrote:Game tonight is a total sell out. Ah I know capacity is only around 8000 but it's a start and if they're filling the ground there will be an atmosphere at least.

And BTW I'm not mocking 5000 - Edinburgh are 1400 people away from regularly getting 5000 - but there is a big difference between 5k and 8k.
Still, this is the first time EVER in Scottish pro rugby that there is a demand for tickets. It doesn't matter that it is only 5k - we need to start somewhere and if Glasgow keep these crowds up they can look to expand Scotstoun on a permanent basis as opposed to the temporary stands they through up for this big games.

Huh was sure it was bigger than that,oh well still better to have a small stadium full to capacity than a big one with empty stands.RDW_Scotland wrote:Try 5000...

It's' about 40 per cent up on last year Jen. Try teling the average Glaswegian there is more than one ball game in town.

Scotstoun capacity is 5k - they increase it to 8k+ with temporary stands for the bigger games. The temporary stands cost a fortune though.asoreleftshoulder wrote:Huh was sure it was bigger than that,oh well still better to have a small stadium full to capacity than a big one with empty stands.RDW_Scotland wrote:Try 5000...

Asore. the temp stands at each end are not there at this time of year due to it being also an athletics stadium also.
A bit like similar stands are removed from the rds for the horseshow.
