Cleverly to Box on
As reported on the BBC: -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/wales/24135237
I have not been kind to Nathan on here, but I am glad he has made this decision. I don't believe he will ever be the division leader, but could definitely be a player. Let's hope he ditches his dad as his trainer!!

Obvious decision........surprise anyone doubted it.
Let's be honest he has a Maths degree......What does he want to do work in a boring classroom or some other office work like me..
or spend his time having fun training and having fights........For more money, more time off and other perks......
No brainer..........

Yeh, fairplay to him and agree with Truss. He's got the brains in the bank, can worry about the boring side of life later. No reason he can't have fun and make decent money the next five years as a gatekeeper.

Was the perfect opportunity for him to get a quality trainer and maybe move to the US.

Will say though judging by his last fight.......He is going to need all Warren's skill to navigate him to an alphabet title shot that's winnable......

After a loss? But he’s shot, a hype job etc. Doesn’t he know anything about boxing?

I was being sarcastic, people seem to think a single loss is career ending.

Clev won't be the same. That beat down was psychologically destructive.

Scott, I got it. This is why I am glad he hasn't crawled away to retirement. He would only regret it later on and can provide many a competitive fight going forward. Just not Enzo straight away please, although it would make good money!

It will show whether he is mentally strong or not, without a doubt, but I have faith that he can come back to fight at a decent level going forward.Strongback wrote:Clev won't be the same. That beat down was psychologically destructive.

I agree with Strongy for once in five years.........It's not so much the beating but the way he lost.......He just seemed well above his pay grade..........and he's a bright boy!!
Anyone can take a slap but when someone who isn't Ward-esque outclasses you that's different !!!
Bellew wins...............go for him.................His best hope..

Don't see him ever reaching the top of the division. That was a blowout. From start to finish. Wish him well though

Re: Cleverly to Box on
Clev made this anouncemt on BBC Wales News last night and the article doesnt mention that he was asked about his training and Clev said there will be changes but nothing really drastic as he is happy with things but did say is looking at changes such as maybe attending a training camp for his next fight. While old man Vince can still train him he really needs someone else in his corner giving advice if he is to work his way back into a title shot

Re: Cleverly to Box on
He needs to get a proper trainer and start going to a proper gym with better sparring partners. For the Kovalev fight his main sparring partner was Ovill McKenzie that isn't good enough.
Just because that sort of set up worked for the Calzaghes doesn't mean it will for the Cleverlys. Joe for a start was a lot more athletically and technically gifted than Nathan making Enzos job a lot easier.

Cheers for that tid bit, Steffan. I was wondering what his plans were on that front. I do think it's a mistake though. He needs professional help!!
