Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD
Quite looking forward to watching this as a superhero fan. Starts on channel 4, 27th September.
Be interested in how they explain Agent Coulson is alive again as it is set after the Avengers film.

I am very much looking forward to this, especially the 'return' of Agent Coulson. And the fact this is a Joss Whedon show makes me even more expectant. And more of Cobie Smulders, hooray

Channel 4 obviously don't understand the meaning of spoiler by showing Coulson in the adverts

Re: Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD
It's not really a spoiler considering, Coulson has been advertised every where, Youtube etc and tbh pretty much everyone knows he is alive.

Re: Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD
Agreed - not a spoiler, in that Clark Gregg was on the panel at Comic Con and as you say is in all the trailers. In fact, I read somewhere that the whole point was to bring the Son of Coul back... and I think the idea is that the "how?!?" will be a slow reveal.
Having said that, some bright spark pointed out an exchange between Stark and Coulson in the Avengers which might hold the key... I will refrain from spelling it out in case it really is the explanation!

First episode was good but not great. Will have to watch more to judge it.

Re: Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD
I thought it was quite good, although was very disappointed that something shown at 8pm contained such violence. I had to explain to my four year old - who's watched Avengers Assemble - why the 'bad man' had his face slammed into the oven door, why one was punching another etc. Quite poor scheduling - had I known the level of violence, I'd never have let my lad watch it. As it was, he watched four minutes of it before I had to turn it off.
The rest was pretty good - for adults.

I really enjoyed it and can see that there are alot of avenues to be explored. Impressed with the production values and looking forward to where it goes.
Azzy on your point, the TV series is based on a film that was a 12a so moderate violence really should have been expected and in all honesty compared to the film I though the amount was fairly light

Re: Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD
In the first five minutes there was a glass jug smashed over a head, a kitchen drawer used to punch someone on the head with, and someone having their face smashed into the oven door.
There is nothing like that in Avengers. It's a lot more 'fantasy' and a lot less real. My lad watched Avengers fine, he knows it's make-believe, but the Shield show using people just crossed a line. If it's shown at 9pm, there's no problem. We assumed an 8pm showing meant it was fine for a 4 year old.

I'm not wanting to get into a big discussion about it but at the same time on BBC1 an Eastenders character had a knife drawn on them and they were beaten to a bloody mess on the street. I would argue that at that time of the night it's fair to say most programming isn't aimed at the under 5's

True, but then, I'd never let me lad watch Eastenders
There was a recent story on BBC about extending kids tv hours past 7pm, as most kids are actually watching 'adult' tv past that time. If they had Waybuloo on at 830, that would solve my problem.
Agents of Shield was actually pretty good, I like how they link it up to the films, and it'll play nicely in between all the films coming out over the next 4-5 years.

Enjoyed the pilot...a lot more than I thought I would. Particularly as it doesn't take itself too seriously. Mainly pulled in by the smart, witty (and sometimes self-effacing) dialogue, but the eye candy wasn't bad either. Its not often you see full-on blockbuster movie effects in TV shows (well, not often I've seen them anyway) and while very well done, they didn't overshadow the characters or the story.
Think this could become a regular part of my TV schedule.

Pretty good start, gutting I now have Uni cricket trainings 8-10 on Fridays ah well will catch up with it.
Would be decent to see some cameos in the show, we've had Hill so far, think Fury cameos at some point, but things like Black Widow and Hawkeye coming in for complex missions etc would be pretty cool.

Any way of getting the main Marvel characters in would be totally ace, agreed. Not sure Scarlett Johansson would lower herself to TV, but you never know.

Re: Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD
not been overly impressed with this so far, which is a shame as i love a lot of the marvel stuff
would imagine they could get the hulk in easy enough as he's computer animated when mad and i didnt really know the actor who played banner. cant see downey jnr being in it but they could have iron man in the suit. samuel jackson has already made a appearance so there might be big cameos
could also see hawkeye making an appearance

Re: Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD
I've enjoyed these so far. I think we'll see a few cameos, but the main thing I want to know is how Coulson survived.
- Spoiler:
- The main rumour doing the rounds is that the one that got stabbed was a live model decoy, it is believed it was developed by Stark Industries and Stark makes reference to it in The Avengers.
- Spoiler:
- It also lookes like they may have created a new bad guy in the last episode.

Re: Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD
Interesting thoughts Hampo, especially on the Coulson death theories. The think about disarming a gun must be a hint in someway, I can't imagine it would be included for no reason!
I've enjoyed it so far, but it's definitely got the potential to go to the next level. Hopefully with what was seen at the very end of the last episode, they can add another over arcing story in.
And I might be being stupid here, but surely the whole "this is level 7" thing stops there being any cameos as none of Stark, Banner, Hawkeye, Scarlett etc. know that Coulson is still alive?

It's watchable, but you can tell it's a tv series with a tv series budget. I won't be buying the DVD of the series, but as it's free on tv, I love it. A good way to spend a Friday night!

I watch it on pace with the US. It's gotten better over the course of the season. Bill Paxton has been in the last 3/4 episodes.

Silver Surfer under the mountain??
If you mean the body in the tank where they got the serum from, I thought that was a captured alien from the battle for New York.
Wonder if any of this cast will appear in the next Avengers.....?

is that what it was, i thought it didn't look anything like the aliens from the movie, i thought it looked like the silver surfer, as it was a bluely/silvery colour.
i didnt get it either way

Re: Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD
I remember thinking what the hell that was too. I looked up episode reviews and no one knows. Hasn't been mentioned since.
Should have episode 17 to download in the morning. End of episode 16 hints at it being action packed.
