If the ref had asked - "any reason not to award the try" it would have been a try but you could not see the ball touch down over the line. I bet it was tho

Re: Zebre v Glasgow Warriors, 27 September
Too many subs? Lost the collective focus and the game became to broken.
Need to sharpen up, yes 4 out of 4 is lovely but to take it to the next level they should be leaving places like Parma with 5 points.

Re: Zebre v Glasgow Warriors, 27 September
Fair play to Zebre though, they stuck at it and (annoyingly!) didn't roll over. The blues wont be their only victims this season
Re: Zebre v Glasgow Warriors, 27 September
Quite cake - WTFF went on out there in the last 20. Headless chickens springs to mind. Even Maitland and Jackson who had a good games up until then started feckin aboot ! That was a 5 pointer spurned and no mistake - no leadership at all when Big AK went off. Puzzling

Re: Zebre v Glasgow Warriors, 27 September
Too many changes before the game was properly put to bed. Think Pyrgos took the wrong option a couple of times, one cost us a try in the first half, trying to it all himself and in the last phase of play. But a wins a win and it takes some getting used to this feeling of disappointment just because we didn't get four.

Re: Zebre v Glasgow Warriors, 27 September
Gray sitting down for 10 didn't help us and apparently Dunbar bombed a chance to touch down himself? Not quite clinical enough - we are clearly still not into 5th gear yet.

I don't want to sound harsh, and as a Scottish rugby supporter I have low expectations. We have won 4 out of 4, but I am yet to see a convincing performance. We struggled against the Blues, robbed Ulster and snuck past Leinster at home. If tonight's game had been 5 minutes longer I don't think we would have won

Winning when its not all going well is a sign of a good side. Yes they need to show a bit more if they are to troublke the best teams in Europe but compared to the start of last season?

That's the very reason I am actually quite optimistic! Beating last year's finalists whilst playing poorly? Ok - lineout stilla bit hit or miss. Tries very well worked esp the 1st one. Lost a hell of lot when Bluto went to bed tbh. Harley should have stayed on. JG very unfortunate to get carded but bad discipline by his team mates had stretched Philips' patience. 4/4 - where were this time last season 1/4 ?

Just watched the Highlights, the new boy Ascarate showed very deft hands for both of Barry's scores - looks like a classy player.
I'm with George on this one, although we obviously haven't hit our straps - things are starting to click into gear.

Re: Zebre v Glasgow Warriors, 27 September
Morning Weegiemen, didn't get a good look at the game; it was on in the study and the chilli was on the hob and I was shuttling back and forth. MrsPip was in the lounge "nursing her wrath to keep it warm" at the prospect of most of her weekend being sacrificed to rugby AGAIN. I did try to douse the flames with alcohol.
Anyhoo, NoMaits, Seymour and Barry looked good. Angel looked very smart in his decision making. Pre-match I thought the bench offered us very little in the backs and the shapelessness of the last 20 would seem to confirm that. Toonie back up to 3% muppet?
Anyone who missed the finale of School of Hard Kocks should seek it out for Big Al's appearance. I don't love him anymore I worship the ground he hovers above. When he went off the leadership went too.
Still, Zebre are a good side, and will get better, we haven't played our best XV all together yet and we're miles ahead of where we were last season. We haven't clicked yet but it isn't far away. We'll have to make do with four pointers until then. What wouldn't the MFL give to have our problems?

Jimbo,
was not playing it was Gabriel Ascarte our new Argie (Bernie Stortoni Mk 3 ?!). My patience has gone with Scott Wight - did you notice the pathetic attempts at a tackle in the build up (and breakout) for their 2nd try. Truly Visser or Lee Jones like ffs. Please note what happened when my main man Bluto Strauss went off

Great to see that Glasgow are still doing well, I hope they take this form into Europe. As for this match, they could have done with a bonus point win. Ospreys will draw level on points if they get 5 points up in Connacht.

They need to improve for Europe, if they get that complacent for that length of time in the Heineken cup they will be in a lot more trouble, no matter how far ahead they are.The Saint wrote:Great to see that Glasgow are still doing well, I hope they take this form into Europe. Spreys win by scoring another 6 tries. Good job we don't play them until November. By which time we may even have Ryan Wilson back.

Re: Zebre v Glasgow Warriors, 27 September
Schiz, I was aware was not playing. I referred to Gabriel as Angel coz I'm very theologically inclined at times. No Maits and Angel linked brilliantly at times and if we have Angel, Horne, Dunbar, Shlong and Murchie all fit then poor Vernon might have to play in the pack: for a rest presumably.

The letter for today is F as in feckin'ell. We arrived at Wanstead yesterday and I blithely announced that last time I played ther we had arrived with12 men and they gave us 2 who had conscientious objections to tackling and we got hammered. I had got so incensed with their fullback's grandstanding and Wendyball type behaviour that I put I high ball up and as he caught it dropped my shoulder and hit him as hard as I could. So hard in fact I popped rib cartilage which gave me no little pain over the next week or so.Oh how we laughed when I related this pre-match. Can you guess what happened next? I bet you can? Midway through the second half our winger makes a try saving tackle just short of the line which they recycle quickly. Their flanker tries to go over but I hold him up. I decide not to go to ground as we don't have numbers there yet and if we can hold him up we should get the put in at the scrum. My team mates get behind me and start driving. His team mates get behind him, but we're going forward, my plan is working perfectly. Somehow his shoulder has dropped just below my ribs just as two of his team hit the maul with serious intent. Shoulder drives in and up and I get to hear a funny grinding scraping noise as my lower ribs become much more closely acquainted with each other than is strictly polite. I lasted until the next scrum when I realised that pushing was not as much fun as sticking knitting needles in my eyes. MrsPip has maintained her admirable record of not noticing or commenting upon self inflicted stupidity. But the letter for today is definitely F.

Yes and we miss Big Ryan's leadership at times too. he looked almost ready to go when I saw him in the WE last week. Nice problem for Toonie - who loses out when he comes back ? 8 - Wilson 6 - Strauss 7 -Fusaro. Bob Harley would be very unlucky to lose his place for example. Even the Jedi !
