I still think McGuigan is a bit of a weak link for Glasgow, despite improved form this season. Comfortably behind Maitland, DTH, Seymour and Lamont in my view. Edinburgh don't seem to rate Farndale (probably the same guy who ditched Grant and Maitland), so he'd be a good poach for Glasgow.
But Barry is exactly the kind of back-up the Weege want for Maitland, DTH, Seymour and Lamont - decent enough to ensure that they all maintain their game at the highest standard - the polar opposite to Lee Jones or Jack Cuthbutt

I'm afraid that is true.

Barry might not be Bryan Habana but he is an intelligent footballer who has a turning circle tighter than the QE2 (Cuthbert) and won't be tossed around the pitch like a doggy chew toy (Jones).

Not available for selection through injury: Paolo BUSO, Nicola CATTINA, Filippo CAZZOLA, Filippo FERRARINI, Quintin GELDENHUYS.

A few familiar names in there from the Italy international side as well as Irvine's own George Biagi. Quite glad Venditti's not starting, he's dangerous.

I'm not for one second suggestion Edinburgh have better options. There really is no need to turn every comment I make about a Glasgow player into some Glasgow vs Edinburgh debate.

It is a compliment to Glasgow to suggest that McGuigan is a weak link in an otherwise excellent squad. I just don't rate him, and I think there's a significant drop in ability between him and the other wingers at your disposal.

Cuthbert and Jones are useless. You'll hear no Edinburgh fans trying to debate their way out of that statement!

Apologies - not what I intended. Just when I got the dog chew toy analogy in my head, just couldn't let it go. Sorry

Nothing wrong with being a "wee bit Stockbridge".

Change is not something to be readily embraced, and nothing disturbs me more than "outsiders"......

Looking forward to the match.

If it were being played at Scotstoun there would be the chance that I could avoid being forced to watch strictly come prancing by Mrs Solid8.

If this is my only criticism of the game come the final whistle I'll be well chuffed though!

Yeah that's the thing, I live London and don't have SKY so have to watch BBC Alba at my desk in the study. If there is a TV clash I get to hide out here until the prancing is over. If there is no clash I get ear ache until I go and sit next to her and switch off for the duration of the gayness*.

*by gayness I of course mean happiness and am in no way suggesting that any of the professional male dancers are gay, or that any of the male guests may happen to share a closet next to Tom Cruise

An interesting selection by ToonieSchiz. Rather than match the Zebre for grunt up front he seems to want to get the ball wide ASAP. The Henry-Ruaridh link will be crucial as we need quick ball. However Niko after 60 at a tiring defence! Can't wait.

When a Scots team is playing an Irish team I get to decamp to Connelly's Bar in Chiswick so last Friday was great!

Not going to help you tonight*, but when I'm travelling I used Private Internet access to create a VPN tunnel into the UK for BBC etc.

https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/

It costs about $30 a year.

*actually it will do if your quick

Worth noting that it does not work with SKY

If Pyrgos had drawn defenders here, a simple pass to Dunbar would have got the job done.

Why in the name of the wee man is Henners kicking for goal?
Are they doing this on a rota basis now? Looking forward to Jon Welsh's week.

Very Happy

But seriously - who else? Jackson is no goal kicker and missing goals seems to make him lose confidence in his all round game?

Zebre look improved - first time I have seen them this season. No fluke they won last week.

Hmmm, frustrating half. Lineout sloppy, and still giving away needless penalties. Hopefully a good chat from Townsend at half time and they'll sharpen up

Are Eddie and DTH actually playing?

Been impressed with the Archangel, looks like a very prudent signing. Maybe he could go across to Edinburgh at the end of the season.

Keep the pressure on them, the territory has been well managed, they'll tire if we grind out their hope with a couple points early. Plus Niko will probably create a couple tries once he gets on.

Jerry comes across well, another good signing.

Cracking try. Dint know why there's the need to check with the TMO. What's the touch judge for? Headscratch

The Centre is on for Bluto? Erm

It's going to be pretty bad for morale if we cannot score during their sin bin period.

Edit: Spoke too soon - well done Dougie, you mad baldy.

I think the ref's airline needs to check what type of mushrooms they fed him on his flight over from Ireland.

Bluto got a fair bit of attention from the physios in the first half.
