The 606v2 CB Rankings
First topic message reminder :
Was kinda hoping people would copy the concept.
Refer to the RB topic for process details.
1. Darrelle Revis vs Nmandi Asomugha
The only 2 lockdown CBs in the game.
Revis for me since he tracks the #1 as opposed to Nmandi taking a position.

You don't rate Talib? I know he has his problems but as a CB he is a great player! I am basing this purely on their play on the field

Talib is a quality starter but imo flowers is the better player. I would say talib is more of a playmaker but he can be hit or miss, on the other hand flowers is money every play

Fair enough, I have been impressed with Talib every time I have seen him play and less so with Flowers

Re: The 606v2 CB Rankings
I'm surprised by that if I'm being honest, I would give Flowers the edge in physicality, his ability in run support, tackling and that makes him a better all-round corner. Add to that the amount of plays Flowers makes in coverage, OK he doesn't produce quite as many interceptions but he breaks up a good number of the passes thrown his way, plus he comes up with turnovers in other ways such as FFs. I think you could argue that Flowers is the better cover corner as well, he hurt his hamstring half way through last season but before that he was dominant.bambamwillis wrote:Fair enough, I have been impressed with Talib every time I have seen him play and less so with Flowers
Doug Farrar of Football Outsiders wrote an interesting article last year which I still have the link for: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/cover-3/2010/cover-3-around-corner

Well this is tricky, as Talib takes more risks, but gets more turnovers. Where Flowers may not be an INTing machine but is very solid and doesnt often let things past him.

Re: The 606v2 CB Rankings
My perspective on the number 1 corner on a team is probably a little different from a lot of people. I want my corners to either be complete lockdown guys like Revis and Asomugha, or I want them to be able to create turnovers. This is why I have always been a fan of Asante Samuel, but not as high on Ike Taylor, although Taylor is probably equal in cover ability.
Hence why I have voted for the big play corners, (Woodson, Samuel, Talib) over the cover corners (Bailey and Flowers). Probably not what an NFL GM would do but thats why I'm not a coach!

Well instead of MEGA LOLZing and being patronising, why don't you offer something more constructive?

the rankings aren't bad, dont think I could argue with them apart from seeing flowers and williams above talib

I've previously offered some thoughts on Bailey and Samuel and if you read a few posts back I have offered some brief thoughts on Flowers as well.

Still no need for a response like that, in my opinion.

I'll take Bailey and Flowers... though Tramon has been pretty tidy...
Not sure or Talib being that high, but nevermind!
