This is a little game I thought of last night. Some films have major actors in and then some have people in small parts to the point where you dont even realise 2 people were in the same film! So I thought I would start a game off. Some would be fairly obvious (e.g. which film featured Nicolas Cage and John Travolta would obviously be Face Off) but lets see if we can pick some obscure ones. I will start:

Nope but a good effort. Clue - Roger Corman film of the early '60s as Nicholson began his ascent up the slippery pole of film stardom and Karloff descended.

Probably best to bring the Boris Karloff / Jack Nicholson film pairing to a halt. It was Roger Corman's The Raven from 1963.

A final one from me.
Charlie Chaplin and Frazer Hines (from tv soap Emmerdale). Just love such a bizarre pairing.

Oooh so close but you don't get your usual cigar this time, Groucho! It was actually Chaplin's penultimate film. Made in England although the title suggests he is elsewhere.

Spot on.

Having just checked, Hines was born in '44 and so would have been around 12 or 13 when the film was made. He was at stage school and had already done a few long forgotten tv dramas. I heard him interviewed on the radio about twenty years ago and he came across quite well. He said that if people ever got sniffy about him being in a tv soap, he would enjoy slipping into the conversation, ''When Chaplin and I were working together ...''. That stuck in my memory and I thought this was a good opportunity to bring it up. IMDB show he wasn't credited on the film's cast list but do confirm his appearance.

I would have said Chaplin and Sid James...think he played an American news reporter

Dave - yes, Sid James was also in A King in New York along with Chaplin although that would have been too easy for you. Wink

Besides the Carry On regulars, Sid James appeared with an array of varying talent and personalities including John Mills, Kenneth More, Sean Connery, Patrick McGoohan, Adam Faith, Joe Brown, Jill Ireland and Jayne Mansfield. I have read that he was even shortlisted to play Fagin in Oliver!, eventually taken by the award winning Ron Moody.

He's had a couple of bit parts is films he didn't direct, although he was executive producer on this one.
