Re: Predictions for 2014 top 5 and slam winners
Well, the del Potty injury and Murray's slow return to form certainly caught most of us out when we made predictions a year ago.
Most kept faith with Fed, with yours truly SirFred saying that if he could make the top eight in a comparatively poor year (2013) he ought to do so in a better year.
Don't think anyone expected he'd do so well that he would be in with a (distant) shout of the number one at the season's end. Djoko's good year seems widely predicted, although few forecast the one slam he did actually win!

My only prediction that can come true is Djokovic finishing number 1 although it isn't completely in the bag yet. If that happens can't say I won't be happy with my predicitions.

Here we go then...the list of what we all got correct! Assuming Novak will make #1.
socal: Novak at #1
Born Slippy: Novak at #1, Nadal at #3, RG winner
Danny: Novak at #1, RG winner
Silver: Novak at #1, Fed in top 3, RG winner, Stan in first slam final
HM Murdoch: RG winner
LK: RG winner
HB: Novak at #1, USO surprise winner (!)
LF: Novak at #1, Fed in top 4
CAS: Novak at #1, Nadal at #3
naxroy: RG winner
sirfred: Novak at #1, Fed in top 4, RG winner
ALPanorak: Stan in top 5, RG winner
ChequeredJersey: Novak at #1, RG winner
IC: Nothing! Epic Delpo predictions, however
MrInvisible: Novak at #1, Fed in W final
SB: Novak at #1, Fed in top 4
RiskySports: Er...
Yvonne: Novak at #1
Gerry SA: RG winner
So essentially, we're all pretty terrible. Thank god for Novak at #1 and Rafa cleaning up as usual at RG, or we'd all look like total chumps. Nobody guessed the AO or Wimbledon winners, nobody had Federer in the top 2, and only ALPanorak has Stan in the top 5.
Guess of the year: HB's surprise winner at the USO. Well done
