Wales team to face Australia
First topic message reminder :
I don't think anyone put their hands up today except Hook and O Williams
Several were dismal and if i see L Williams on the bench i will be very disappointed. Glad Charteris has gone back as he is off form.
Gethin
Hibbard - player of the autumn for me
Rhodri Jones
AWJ
Ryan Jones - I think Evans will be picked but I think Ryan offers more in the loose and was one of few players who looked like he wanted to play today
Lydiate - needs to up his game as he has been quiet this autumn
Warburton - personally would like to see Tips start and Warbs at 6 but expect tho selection
Faletau - has had a fine autumn
Philipps - superb last week, could be his opportunity to get a club!
Biggar - for his kicking game and is less prone to getting isolated and turned over, i may have picked hook if available as i thought he was good today
North - A quiet autumn and ordinary v Tonga. Time to step up
S Williams - excellent footballer, his big opportunity and I am looking forward to him staking a real claim
O Williams - only real bonus from the Tonga game, looked solid
L Williams - is he fit…who else is there.
Halfpenny - involved in both tries, expect the POTY finalist to have a huge game
Owens
Lee
A Prop
Coombes - in reality i think tho swill be Ryan as i expect Gats to select Evans
Tipuric pref for him to start
R Williams
Priestland - I would def pick Hook if available
Beck - barely but who else is there

I don't know if it's today or tomorrow... but have a great day, mate.
I'm feeling OK about this contest, quietly confident the Wallabies can do the job. They seem relatively happy and relaxed from what I've seen so far on the sports bites. I'll be glad when bloody Movember (good cause but it's all a bit silly really) is over though! There's lots of sport on at the moment which keeps my mind off the build-up for the Wales-Oz match. It's a big weekend for Oz with the RLWC Final as well. Then the Ashes in Adelaide again next Thursday.

He's got an amazing strike rate.
So unlucky he tore a hammy in the last Lions Test... a major tuning point for us. Then the Lions tore us a couple of new ones!
A few weeks ago when watching him I thought he was trying to do too much. He needed to pass it a little bit more and not take on 2,3 or 4 defenders every time. He did distribute better in the Ireland and Scotland games... I want to see more of that again on Sat night.

Imagine if Wales go into that group, like Australia, due for a win over England.
What a massive boil over the RWC might be if the host went out in the pool stage.
That's never happened before, although likely to be repeated in 2019.

Phil Vickery to consider whether or not he'll retire before the 2051 finals or have 4 more years.

Wales 30 - 3 England........... and England 20 - 13 Australia
Scotland 18 - 28 Wales........ and Scotland 15 - 21 Australia
You should therefore as resounding conquerors of both England and Scotland and European Champions beat Australia by a larger score than England
Hence Australia will have to come up a notch or two to get anywhere close to beating Wales at Cardiff

He picked up a terrible pass from Lloyd Williams off his laces before putting in that kick as well. The team picked looks like the best from the players available. To Scarlets fans: how highly do you rate Rhodri Williams?Comfort wrote:I think Biggar is pretty capable of the magic moments though too, look at the litle grubber to the corner for North against France last year, tight game, 8 losses on the bounce, time drawing near, it took guts to put in that kick, let alone to the degree of accuracy he did (admitedly North's finish was awesome), it takes guts and quality to make that play.

Re: Wales team to face Australia
Sadly, as with a few of the welsh squad scarlets, I don't think he is our best scrum half in the region. He is electric when things are going right, but does have a tendancy to waste time telling the ref that there are hands in the ruck instead of getting the bleeding ball out to the backs that are screaming for it. That said he is still a kid, and compared to most youngsters in his position he has had a fair bit of experience (been in our HEC squad for three seasons), and has shown improvement over the last few seasons. A few seasons ago he butchers a chance of beating the Saints at home with white line fever, this season he has scored a few HEC tries. I think given time, and as long as te welsh caps don't go to his head, he is definitely one to watch for the future. The Bachelor wrote:He picked up a terrible pass from Lloyd Williams off his laces before putting in that kick as well. Feel for Gareth Davies and Richie Rees. Two very fine scrum halfs and probably the best two we have available yet can't break into the squad. Hopefully Lloyd Williams drops out for a bit but can't see it happening. I like Rhodri Williams and i'm sure he's just being looked at early on as he's set for a long international career imo.

Quade Coopers 50th cap. That came around so quickly.
Speaking of Kiwis bringing up 50 tests, I remember when Sean Fitzpatrick ran on for his 50th. It was a huge achievement in those days. They wouldn't've believed a captain just a generation on would be bringing up 100 games as captain.
And people say the season is too long. Go figure.

Ooooh a bit of tension by the seems
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/australia-star-genia-furious-comments-6355068
Maybe Genia should have just kept quite about it. I mean I he need to be worry about his own game at the moment, he has gone from hero to lets just say mediocre in the past year.
He was amazing last yer but this year has been ok at best. He doesn't really scare me, but if i was him and the Aus pack, they should be very wary of Hibbard; he is the in form player in our pack and i can't wait to see him bash about an average pack. We clearly have the best of them up front, but that hasn't worked for the past 8 games, so hope hope we don't try and pay the same game.
Aus have 3 main threats and that's Folau, Cooper and Hooper. If we can keep them at bay then we can win, however these three players are great and i'm sure will be at their bests tomorrow.
We have to win but i just have that feeling that the Aussies will steel it once again in the final quarters. I pray i'm wrong because if we do loose then overall this will have been yet another poor Autumn.

Re: Wales team to face Australia
The problem with saying things like Genia doesnt really scare you , is Genia is the type to dominate a game for 80 minutes out of the blue. He always has at least one game a season when he's unplayable. If Wales are unlucky that game will come tomorrow . As for an average pack. People have been saying that about the Aussies for years yet they're the 3rd best ranked team in the world. Talk is cheapJhamer25 wrote:Ooooh a bit of tension by the seems

A very weak scrum
A stable lineout (no real threat from Horwill or Simmons)
And no real go froward power
The reason Australia have been one for the best is because of the likes of Cooper, Genia (on form), Drew Mitchell, Adam Ashley Cooper, Beale, O'Conner, Folau and Gitau. Not Horwill, Mowen, Fardy, Kepu or Simmons
To me the Aussies have only had 3 world class players int he past few years which is Pocock, Hooper and Moore
My talk might be cheap but it's the truth
And yes, knowing our luck Genia will be amazing tomorrow but i hope he just plays like the way he has been all year

Re: Wales team to face Australia
genia si up there with the best ever 9'S, think, Edwards and Joost good.
And behind a pack that is comparatively poor in SH terms but still excellent.
While i hope Hibbard's chat has distracted him, he is more than capable of blowing sides away on his own and at the end of the day it is all chat, Aussie have the upper hand and we might have red faces to match our red shirts if we don't batter them!

All True, i'm not knocking Genia in anyway because last year he was amazing it's just this year he hasn't been at his best by a country mile and has been mediocre at best.Scratch wrote:genia si up there with the best ever 9'S, think, Edwards and Joost good.

If we loose then a thunder of criticism come thundering down on Wales; and rightfully so. I don;t care if we are smashing them all through the match and they end up scoring a lat minute try, i don't care i we play the worse rugby ever seen but as long as we win.

I wish our coaches and players would stop with the fighting talk and over confident comments in the media. I'm starting to get really fed up of it. It's getting out of hand now. Why bother handing the opposition ammunition? You might as well just be handing them a few free points. Plus, it comes across very 'soccer', not really in the rugby spirit, and we usually end up looking stupid as our record vs the SH is beyond awful.
Keep the mouth shut and let the ferocity that they think and claim they'll bring to the game actually come out on the field as a nice surprise for the opposition instead, not tell them our plans before the game. It's demonstrating a really low level of intelligence.
Hibbard is the latest to talk us up. He's coming across like he's mustard. And while he is having a decent year or so, it was not long ago when he was too fat and unfit to get in the national side. Even his club said he needed to work on his belly if he wanted to kick on. Hardly 'mustard' back then.

should i be rabid and defensive? ignore form and just scream how good we are?
I think so many Welsh fans are full of unrealistic BS and like the team, devoid of the top 2 inches.
Wales are absolutely awesome, i am their biggest fan and have watched them all over the world, but i hav head enough of being also rans, want us to abandon the parochial attitudes that as long as the 6B Nations is in the bag we are doing ok.
I want World Cups, to beat NZ or at least compete, to take Aussie more than we lose, to bully SA in their own back yard.
Otherwise, what is the point of dominating the NH.

At the end of the day Wales have beaten Australia twice on they're own patch this year so at home its understandable why the fans would be confident

some fair points here. i think its driven by the media (i.e. bbc wales and western mail) rather than the team, but warburton being quoted as 'this means a lot to the nation' etc etc is a load of arse gravyGriff wrote:I wish our coaches and players would stop with the fighting talk and over confident comments in the media. better job prospects, decent schools and hospitals etc means 'a lot to the nation', followed by cardiff city and swansea city in the prem soccer probably
little bit irritating

People have been saying that about the Aussies for years yet they're the 3rd best ranked team in the world. Talk is cheapJhamer25 wrote:Ooooh a bit of tension by the seems

For a team with only 3 world class players in the last few years (your words not mine ) they've done remarkably well especially against the Welsh . Seriously though i dno if you're trolling or not but 3 world class players ? Pocock when he plays is the best openside in the world but he's injured 50% of the time . Hooper only showed up this year and Moore is very injury prone . You very easily overlook newboy Folau , Genia , Cooper ,the evergreen AAC , Digby Ioane , JOC , Beale. If they aren;t world class these last few years you dont know the meaning of the term
