Re: HC, Pool 2, Round 4: Glasgow Warriors v Cardiff Blues
According to Big Al in the Hootsman, the most impressive thing about Naka is the work he does in the scrum and lineout. If he is being truthful then we could be looking at a very solid front five tonight. It also makes Fozzies demotion to the bench more troubling. Toonie obviously felt we were bullied at the breakdown, but with a solid front five and Holmes and the Tackle Monster we're a little short on ball carriers in the back row. Let's hope Naka and Cap'n Kellock put in the hard yards with ball in hand.
Also, I find myself disagreeing with Schiz: this isn't really an experimental lineup. The front row is probably the best available, Gray and Swinson are injured (Gray till January lucky MFL) and Naka played well last week so deserves his chance. Wilson may not have 80 minutes in him yet so keep Bluto on the bench to come on at 8. Actually apart from Naka and Harley it's pretty close to Schiz's preferred pack.
The backs are, again, almost what Schiz wanted except Bennet is injured and Niko starts ahead of Cooseater. Given that Gabriel was less then divine (ouch) last week then Barry is the only option until Richie Vee comes out of the phone booth with his pants over his trousers.
Really Schiz, you sound like the man complaining about his Fish'n'chips when he ordered Chips'n'fish.
If the pack man up and do the basics properly then we can win comfortably. As long as Niko remembers there are 14 other people playing for Glasgow tonight and Naka is half the player Kellock says he is.
C'mon the Warriors WHATEVER IT TAKES

Ok mate - I have another bout of "keek (that is keek not keech) through the fingers " at Toytown Scotstoun. Tell Pipetto to lay off the straight vodka and try one of his dad's nice wee malts when he gets home !

Great kick from Patchell. Producing young stars like this can give struggling teams a lot of hope.

Cardiff scrum well munched. Pity you don't have a Patch.
Feels like a Rabo game not a HEC encounter.
Great touch finder from the Rags OH followed by a pen from Shove.
6 nil.

Hate to say it, Glasgow don't deserve to get out of this group anyway.

You feel like Glasgow kind of have to invent their gameplan AROUND Matawalu if he is at 9. He's been waiting for that all night

Thoroughly frustrating first 40. That 15 minute period of scrumming on their 5m line should've been 7 points for Glasgow. I'm still a bit shocked that it wasn't.
Last weeks game from Glasgow was dire and this weeks is a bit better but Glasgow's silly errors will get them nowhere!

that was a terrible call by the TMO, and Barnes is an idiot. The blues player is competing for the ball at the ruck, Harley clears him out. The blues player never in the defensive line, he is not being "tackled without the ball", what you are seeing is the end of a ruck clearance, not obstruction! ridiculous!

I agree
That whole 10 minute period was just stupid. The yellow card was stupid - sure they were committing infringements instead of letting Glasgow run all over them but in professional rugby that's always going to happen. Penalty try, move on.
And yes the "obstruction" was stupid. They should have guards on that ruck that are not involved in trying to turnover the ruck...

Fine line. I agree with that but once the ruck is finished he has to let him go and try and get back onside. He can't see Matawalu but I would still have given the penalty.
