Walcott out of the world cup
Breaking news on the BBC. Theo Walcott will be out injured for 6 months which rules him out of the world cup.

Much worse than expected.
The worst diagnosis I heard about the injury was that he was going to be out for up to a month. Now it's six?

One other thing, he's injured the anterior cruciate ligament. I thought that was absolute agony? Not-stretchered-off-with-a-smile agony?
Really gutted for Theo. Will he ever get to play at a World Cup?

Must admit I thought it was bad at the time. Think that was why the crowd got a reaction from him when normally they probably wouldnt have. Don't think the smile was genuine.

Not always Duty. In the NFL, Logan Mankins played on a torn ACL for a large chunk of the season.
Think the pain is manageable, unless its extreme. Obviously hampers performance a lot

very bad news for England. Walcott was showing great form and would have really helped the team out at the WC.

Now who do we have to run directly at defenders and lose the ball?

It is a shame that Walcott is out. England will miss him and I'm really sorry he won't be there. But karma...... karma...... Can't moooooooooove for the karma.
Missing the rest of the premier league season AND the World Cup. 2 - 0 indeed, eh, Theo..?
Many more England and Arsenal fans will rue Walcott's absence from the world cup, and the run in to the Premiership title than those who shared his (allegedly) "witty gesture" to the Spurs fans.
In the words of the immortal bard: "His jest shall savour but a shallow wit, when thousands more weep than did ever laugh at it."

Hardly karma though is it? A playful gesture somehow justifies a potentially career-threatening injury?
What a sickening comment.
Especially when Theo is one of the more exemplary footballers around.

Shame for England and Walcott. Real threat on form, but struggles to stay fit these days.

However, a leading expert in sports rehabilitation has told BBC Radio 5 live that Arsenal have been premature in dismissing the player's chances of playing at Brazil 2014.
"They've put an unnecessary timeframe on it now," said Michael Davison, who runs a Fifa medical centre of excellence in London.
"You have opportunity to undertake surgery, and then think about the motivation of the player and look at early weeks of rehab before actually making decision whether he can or cannot go."
Pray for Theo! Where's there life, there's hope.

seriously you are sick in the head.
When you have had an injury or a low point in your life have others pompously laughed at you? You need to re read your comment and apply it to yourself.
Or is this all down to you not getting over the fact that no one on here will ever agree that violence and banter equate to the same thing?

right in what way?
That he deserves to be punished for banter or (and I truly hope you doint mean this) that karma actually exists and that it exists to this harsh extent. Blimey we all must be very lucky we are alive that's all i can say!!
Think about what you said. and come to the logical conclusion. Its BS. sh!t happens and this doesn't need to be some soap box for idiots to laugh at an injured player that will miss out on 2 massive times in his club and country carrer

Re: Walcott out of the world cup
I don't think he's a good enough footballer to go anyway. Agree with sodhat's comment on losing the ball (although looking at it the other way, we do actually have enough of them whether Walcott is there or not, it's hardly his preserve alone... at least he could do the running bit quite quickly).
In terms of "karma" it's an opinion, just one I don't agree with, not least because he'd suffered the injury before making the gesture. If anything, I'd say the response of gesturing 2-0 in response to vitriolic abuse was bang on. Inoffensive retort in my opinion being based as it was on fact, I guess he wished he could have easily gesticulated "lucky to have nil" as well.
Hope he recovers well as he seems to be one of the nicer top flight footballists on show these days, if perhaps not as good as he thinks he is.

It's not that he deserves to be punished for banter, nor is it that I truly believe karma exists. But it's ironic he took the mickey out of the Spurs fans who were clearly suffering emotionally, then the very next day he suffers his own emotional blow.
Maybe he should have signalled six months rather than two nil

It wouldn't be karma anyway. He injured the knee before the gesture.
I don't think he just had a twisted knee and the when he made the gesture karma got all upset and said "f*ck you buddy, I'm tearing that ACL now." Not unless karma is a Tottenham fan.

surely the only people with this view are people that never actually watch walcott play.
Walcott Is the most undervalued English player that ha ever been.
He scores goals and can finish(most goals per minute by an english player in the last 2 years). but again is stunted. I feel for the lad, Fingers crossed he will be back.
By the way Karma cultists..
I haven't heard any reports about karma hurting the scum Tottenham fans that pummelled him with coins. By your rationale they should have been killed by 50 foot diameter iron coins

Well Mysti - if a harmless gesture means that your career should be left in tatters because of "karma", then surely the Tottenham fans who lobbed coins should be hung, drawn and quartered?

They all probably put their knees out on the train home.
And believe me, I've watched Walcott a lot, and in the flesh on several occasions. He is the single most frustrating footballer I watch, because he has the physical tools without the football brain to match. He cannot work out how to beat a man when he has the ball; it's fine and dandy if you're pinging the ball over the top for him but if you give it to him and he goes one on one, he will lose the ball.
I genuinely can't see why he's paid £100,000 per week to be primarily played on the wing. He can't be an effective winger. He should be a centre forward because his one decent attribute on the ball is finishing.

Mysti and Duty need to stop taking this so seriously. It's a very fair point that Walcott isn't so smug now.

Exactly duty.
But anyway to get back on topic.
I do wonder who's fault this was(and no its not his own fault for making a gesture blah blah before any Buddhist jumps in)
Was he rushed back into playing again to quickly?

He twisted his knee in the turf. Why does someone have to be at fault? You could blame anyone from the groundsman to the boot manufacturer.

Re: Walcott out of the world cup
He's probably been overplayed for a long period of time. It happened to Michael Owen and I believe it's happening to Messi now. Some players are superb when they're 16/17 and become first team regulars when they're young. Then, when they are still growing, they play full season after full season and this can all lead to them suffering either a lot of small injuries or a big injury.
Walcott's 24 now and has played 194 games in 8 seasons since he was 16. That has to take it's toll eventually. Some players get over this (like Rooney may have), others don't (Owen).

Re: Walcott out of the world cup
Granted I don't see Walcott play live. But I've not seen any footage of him warrant a tag anywhere near approaching most undervalued English player that has ever been! I'd guess quite a few club neutrals that do watch him don't think he's brilliant, but obviously I can't back that up. (belting stat, gpm by an english player last 2 years - genuine curiosity point, where did that come from btw?)
Our opinions on his ability differ but at least we both wish him a good recovery Mysti!

I'm sure he'll be devastated. Stop being mock outraged by this.
Marky, stop posting. You're distracting them both from their copies of the Daily Mail.
Well at least we are not being distracted from worshipping a fat budha
I see...
So now you're mocking others religious and/or spiritual beliefs right after getting your soapbox out about someone mocking Walcott?

Re: Walcott out of the world cup
Lol
Btw you have come in to a debate late.. This has all come from 4th lions rants on match day.
Having a bit of fun with it is fine. But we know 4th lion is genuinely laughing his face of over this and by the sounds of it actually believes in karma. Or this odd version of it anyway.

Re: Walcott out of the world cup
I don't think England will miss him too much, this has all happened when he's in good form for Arsenal so looks worse. Barring the Croatia game in 2008 and an odd good moment, he's not done that much in an England shirt.
If Sterling can continue his good form and stay in the 1st team, he could fill the gap Walcott leaves on the right.

Re: Walcott out of the world cup
I was only provoking anyway, I don't really believe in karma...nor does mocking religious beliefs offend me. But then again mocking anything seldom offends me, which is why I laughed when Walcott did his gesture.
(I stand by the fact I think he's terrible though)

I'd guess quite a few club neutrals that do watch him don't think he's brilliant, but obviously I can't back that up. (belting stat, gpm by an english player last 2 years - genuine curiosity point, where did that come from btw?)
Our opinions on his ability differ but at least we both wish him a good recovery Mysti!
Transfer market.
He scores a lot of goals, but hasn't played that much. You do have to work it out yourself mind. And off course I am talking about PL players as my man Murray tops it from all divisions.
I was honestly hoping that Walcott would get an extended run in his preferred position due to arsenals lack of striking options. Which could have also made him striker for England. I think he is our best finisher and would work well with Rooney as the no. 10

Pah - I'm not working stuff out. I'll just stick to wildly forming opinions based on nothing more than, erm, opinion and

Re: Walcott out of the world cup
Last season he scored 14 pl goals (no penalties)and had 11 pl assists.
Only lambert and lampard scored more but scored penalties to reach 15.
He was only matched by Rooney on 11 pl assists.
He had a quality season last year and was just reaching potential. So this injury is a real shame.
