Since you are on... What did you make of JTH's form over the last 2/3 months of the season last year and the Amlin run in? Has it continued through the start of the seaon?
If I remember rightly you were quite impressed even though JTH isnt particularly a favourite player of yours...
For Chris's benefit of course...
anonmattyt wrote:Johnny to be honest with you he has been sensational and has worked on his faults. He is never going to be a distributor and has a poor pass but he offloads well and runs great lines and tackles well. Most improved player in the prem last year. Was fantastic in Europe and must be near England sqiad

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
Still going down the JTH route when even Matt, who was never a fan!!!!, recognises how far he has come on and the cracking form he is in. Some people consider last season to be one of Evans worst in terms of form in England so how does that work with JTH's form?
Still waiting for a replies on the match thread to points raised...

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
JTH so far has played against Bowden and Jonathan Joseph (not a bad combo considering Bowden is argauable one of the players in the premiership so far) and Downey and Clarke (whom you considered the best midfield in the premiership when you had them in your squad). Gloucesters midfield wasnt the strongest but that still looks like decent opposition to date...

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
To say Evans is the 2nd best flyhalf n the world when he hasnt proved it at the highest level might be a bit of a stretch (Pooly will be happy though!). He didnt come into his best last season till the end. Explain JTHs form over the course of the season then.
Anyway Cruden is more then capable of getting JTH going. Watch the ITM cup this year? He was an absolute class above everyone else. Tore everybody apart singlehandily at times.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
Can see why you dont like Cruden. An attacking 10 who can kick his goals and actually tackle.... Doesnt fit your template for a 10 does it?
One of the form 10s of the Super 15 this year. Best player in the ITM. Not my problem Henry decided to take Slade is it?...

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
Lol...that makes no sense! I like Davies but he's hardly Brad Thorn of Bakkies, he wouldn't improve my first XV but would be a good addition to my squad.
I rate him as a decent Int lock, who are you interested in at a similar level?

You're seriously overating Davies to expect Brussow for him. Wee Heinrich is in top 3 7's in rugby...Davies is 3rd best lock in Wales! Lol

I'm happy to negotiate but need to do that at a realistic level. Brussow NFS but would possibly include world class/top class with other players involved.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
I saw you say that a while ago, but he's been playing regularly for them.
Although he can be hard to keep track of teams in the championship sometimes.
I could maybe do a deal on a few of those...although the likes of Wilko and Pocock aren't for sale. My problem is I have done a couple of big deals of late so loathed to change my squad around too much right now.

"Poff, Joubert, Young and Nacewa"
All really key players in my Int Period side mate. Would have to see similar availability in return.

Newcastle
15 Greg Goosen
14 Luke Fielden
13 Corne Uys
12 Jamie Helleur
11 Ryan Shortland
10 Jimmy Gopperth
9 Will Chudley
1 Grant Shiells
2 Joe Graham
3 Ashley Wells
4 Tim Swinson
5 James Hudson (captain)
6 Richard Mayhew
7 Will Welch
8 Ally Hogg
Replacements
16 Michael Mayhew
17 Darren Fearn
18 James Hall
19 Glen Townson
20 Mark Wilson
21 Chris Pilgrim
22 Luke Eves
23 Alex Tait
I'm pretty baffled by Tait's selection to be honest , Richard Mayhew is in terrible form and Mark Wilson is playing some great stuff at 6. Ally Hogg is so past it he might aswell retire.
No Fitzpatrick in the centers is a weird one as well as he runs some pretty big lines and would of had some joy running at Davis.
Think you guys will run away with it after 60 minutes

Don't rate laulala mate. The only player of yours that I can see that I would do for him as a straight swap as they ate about the same level in my eyes is Attwood

He's much better than Webber imo, a little behind Hartley but obviously both English.
I'd want similar standard foreign or slightly less English. I'd do something with Sheri maybe, still think he could be a risk thats all. Or give me a few names

Harrison is a decent player mate, but at the moment Kruis is more valuable to me than Harrison would be due to relative depth I have in their positions.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
Your players may be slightly better, but Young in particular is crucial for me as my only EQ scrummie, so couldn't really lose him. Youngs is an exciting prospect too.
Like I say, your players may be slightly stronger, but the deal is a bad one for my squad.

Ha ha, I sold him to you
He looks a talent, but is a long way off the shirt for Tigers when Youngs comes back and Young settles in.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
Then we are going to struggle to get to a deal mate as I have no interest in any of the players that you listed.
Attwood and Mullan are at similar levels in my opinion, and although I agree that Evans and Halfpenny are ahead of Mullan, the balancing factors are that you will defintiely lose them for 7 weeks during the reast of the season, and Mullan is EQ, which they are not.
Let me know if you change your mind.

Pretty mixed results there Chris - Some big names but you'v got the depth to cover at 1 and 9
