IBF orders Froch v Groves rematch!
First topic message reminder :
Eddie must have pulled some strings there!
Looks like we know why George turned down £1mill. Think he has to have 25% split now.

I really hope this happens and lives up to the hype and doesn't end up a Eubank/Benn II .
My feeling is Groves is like the lower ranked team who performs brilliantly in an FA Cup final only to get a draw and then gets hammered by the big team in the replay. E.g. Man U v Brighton.
Unless Froch has faded further I think he has enough especially as he knows he took Groves best and was turning the fight around. By the end Groves had started to look puffed.
I got the first fight all wrong though so who knows.
The variables in this one..........
When Bowe was dropped heavily by Holy in the third fight........His legs were gone for good and he looked badly faded for the rest of his career..................Might Froch be a different fighter too??
Froch is in his late thirties........
By Groves decking him heavy and it taking Froch till round four to recover did it make Groves look better than he was ...........and fool people into believing the kid was more convincing than he should have been ordinarily...........A la Norris v Brown 1..........
Did Groves really think he could win last time ?? Not sure Buster Douglas did or Groves......I think they thought I'll give it a go and If I lose it's not the end of the World and grew in confidence !!
This time I'm sure he BELIEVES he can win and may be more dangerous..........
Those are the questions really.....and they make it interesting.........

He fought as though he was convinced he was going to win for me Truss, even in the prelims his body language surprised me as though e knew he'd got Frochs number.
As for the second fight I don't know , I think both fighters will be a lot more circumspect this time , don't buy Froch was coming strong theory he was having his head rolled about seconds before the stoppage, he ha a sustained decent period that's it.
Id prob say Groves on Pts he seems the fighter in ascendancy.

Disagree there Rodders. Froch was reeling in Groves from round seven, bossing the clinches and working Groves over in the 8th.

Groves was tiring in my view. His punches were losing their pop.

I saw the end coming too.............
Groves lacked a bit of nous..........and was getting caught..........Too concerned with offense at the expense of defence.........
He got too macho.......But not when it mattered in the 2nd and 3rd rounds when Carl was rubbery.

No doubt the fight was evening up , but can't go with the theory of Froch was coming on strong and taking over. Thought Froch looked tired as well , but we'll never know.

Re: IBF orders Froch v Groves rematch!
It reminded me a bit of Klitcsho v Lewis - the young up and comer throwing the kitchen sink at the aging champ only for the old guy to hang in there and pull it out of the bag.
The thing with that fight is we don't know what would have happened if it continued - nor what would have happened in a rematch.
That's what makes this interesting - did Froch underestimate Groves last time, or did he get out of jail?
In theory if Groves can sustain his previous performance over 12 rounds he should win comfortably.
However Froch did show he could take Groves best shots and keep coming, Groves has to be prepared for that onslaught in the later rounds.

I don't think Froch underestimated Groves if anything Froch started the more tentative man on the night.

Froch has always been a slow starter though....

I'm not sure how Groves can win this really. I don't think he has the gas tank to fight at the pace he set early on last time for 12 rounds which he would need to do to get a decision by the looks of the scorecards. If he boxes more cagey and tries to nick rounds instead of hitting Froch with the kitchen sink to win them clearly he's likely to get jobbed by the judges.

That is supposing Froch is going to be the same fighter............He's getting older everyday and has been in some wars.........

Re: IBF orders Froch v Groves rematch!
Theres lots of unknowns. I think the fact Froch has been so reluctant to go for a rematch indicates Groves knocked some of the spirit and confidence out of him. Froch has never taken beating like that before and I would be surprised if it hasnt affected him mentally or physically.
A rematch with clean officials is all we can ask for.

That's true, if he gets caught like he did in the first again he might not get up. The way he took such a hammering in the sixth though and was still there I think took something out of Groves confidence. Nailed Froch with everything and looked more tired than Froch did when the bell rang. I think something dawned on him then that he's only half way through and Froch wasn't going anywhere.
