Sri Lanka in Bangladesh 2014
First topic message reminder :
Sri Lanka are touring Bangladesh to play 2 tests, 2 T-20Is and 3 ODIs.
There were security concerns due to the political situation in Bangladesh, but the SLC are satisfied and the tour is going ahead.
Bangladesh would want to put up a good show to not only build on their recently improving level of performance but also to show the BullyBoys that they are up for test cricket. Sri Lanka are coming off a decent series against Pakistan where their seam bowlers began to deliver some quality performances.
Let us all follow the games as much as possible at least the scorecards regularly, in solidarity with the very game of cricket that is under BullyBoy threat.

Different eras of play, but stats don't lie?
Gavaskar averages 51. He mixed with the legendary West Indian pace battery. And Australia and Pakistani quick bowlers.
Gavaskar didn't get freebie runs against Bangladesh or Zimbabwe
Sorry Gerry, but just from your statement as follows.
"Sangakkara has very little talent."
Very silly really.

Re: Sri Lanka in Bangladesh 2014
Bangladesh, facing questionmarks about their right to play test cricket, have earned a draw against Sri Lanka in the 2nd test. Set to score a near impossible 465 to win, they reached a comfortable 271-3 when the game was called off eventually. Young Mominul Haque hit an unbeaten 100. Shakib Al Hasan made an unbeaten 43, and Imrul Kayes, Tamim Iqbal and Shamsur Rahman, all spend valuable time at the wicket though all 3 failed to build on the starts they got. Bangladesh really needed this draw. The pitch wasn't a lively one, but the Bangladesh batsmen need to get used to the very temppo of test cricket, and at this stage of their development I would say a pitch on the flatter side is not as bad as it is in other contexts. A spinning pitch should be their normal way of going about in home conditions, Shakib is world class and Gazi is good in spinning conditions, and their batsman are also used to spin bowling. But perhaps not againt subcontinent sides like India and Sri Lanka.

Noteworthy that Mominul is averaging 75 after playing 7 tests with 3 hundreds. Way to go young lad!.

3 hundreds for Bangladesh in this game, and none of those came from Tamim Iqbal, Shakib or Mushfiqur Rahim. More players are putting up their hands, particularly in the batting department. The more players get the belief that they can perform and produce the goods at the level, the better it is for Bangladesh test side.

And Shakib Al Hasan continues to show with bat and ball. He scored 173 runs with 2 half-centuries and took 9 wickets including a 5for across the 2 games. That batting average touching 38 and bowling average of 33 can and should improve, but what a talent this man is. He would have been appreciated a lot more had he been playing for any other side. One think Shakib really needs to work on is his conversion rate. He has gone pass 50 18 times in his 34 tests, but managed to convert only 2 of them into hundreds.
2278 runs and 122 wickets from 34 tests, and he's only 26!!.

2 T20's. 2 last ball thrilling losses for BD, first game - unlucky was over waist height last ball, should have been No Ball, next game just got beat.
doesnt exactly reflect the T20 Rankings.
"In the last ball we all planned that rather than tying, we wanted to win the match," Mashrafe said. "We wanted it to be a bouncer but the ball was wet and soft, he gave his full effort but it became slow on impact.
"Farhad actually bowls the bouncers well in practice. We wanted him [Senanayake] to mis-time it, that was the plan. He could have bowled a yorker and it could have been the same thing, but our aim was to get a wicket."
Like this style of Captaincy - much better to watch than safe captains.

Bangladesh simply don't know how to win...they get into a winning position, and can't execute the final part of the jigsaw..it's a shame.

i know what your saying but isnt their record better than 50% against top 8, also won every series since 2011 at home (odi), shamsur decision was atrocious he was clearly in, even if it wasnt so clear to the third umpire how do you give a decision like that against the batsman - cost me money
