Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
First topic message reminder :
Mancini was terrible, how I wish he was still there.
Should have walked the league the last 2 years with the squad he had and gotten out of his cl groups.

Good news for us that Carroll has been suspended. Will make playing for the 0-0 easier for Mr Hughton

Laudrup has been sacked with Gary Monk taking charge, not sure that's a good move.

What a terrible decision. What is it with sides giving manager harsh sackings.
Landruap should of walked in the summer.

Maybe so GSC, but given their current position this is not the smartest move. Monk has no experience and is really up against it.

ermm. bad season from him granted- but he was going to turn that around..Swansea would never have been relegated under him and they had an outside shot at the uefa

Not surprised though, like I posted earlier from BBC, hiring staff whilst he's away. Stinks of bad intentions. Hope they sink

Of the 11 possibles to go down:
Kept their manager: Villa, West Ham, Stoke, Norwich, Hull
Sacked manager: WBA, Sunderland, Swansea, Fulham, Cardiff, Palace

Why sack Laudrup? Now Swansea may be threatened by relegation, where there was no threat previously.

Not trying to make this a nationalistic debate- But the two craziest sackings have been from the welsh clubs!

Well it is all rather tight at that end. Swansea's most difficult fixtures are behind them, they would have probably been fine in the course of God's good time. Now an upheaval and a period of transition may equal instability and, worse, relegation.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
Swansea have only got 36 pts from the last 38 league games, 1 win in 10. People have figured them out, they're easy to bully at the back and don't attack with enough tempo going forward.
Plus Laudrup clearly wanted out in the summer, upcoming and last.

Plus there has been weird noises coming out of Swansea recently, too many Spaniards not allowed to sit together in meetings, rifts and whatnot.

I agree with Olly. Swansea have become too predictable. Not enough cutting edge.

Having read what Jenkins has said, he sounds reasonable. However, seems like a move too late. The side would clearly improve when Michu returns, and Newcastle's season last year is testament to what Europa League football does to squads of this ilk.

And he signed Davide N'Gog and Marvin Emnes to fix this.
But agree with Dolph, timing is a little strange.
Wish our board would show such ruthlessness

As ever, there is always two sides to the story, like with Clarke. Just that the one side often gets ignored.

IMO Emnes and Ngog were never signed to be first teamers. They were signed to flesh out the squad a bit and play the odd game. There's no point risking your better players in games you're either going to lose or have already won (ie in Europe) but Swansea had such a small squad they have to. I think sacking Laudrup is a terrible decision by Swansea and it may well come back to bite them. There'll be a Welsh derby next year.... in the Championship!

michael laudrop has been sacked!!!!! are swansea crazy? he was a great manager, won them the cup and finished top 10 and no doubt this year they would have finished top 10 again.
Yes they are struggling this year but they have a small squad and have to play in the europa league, it's not easy.

Rumours have been rife down here for weeks. Fallen out with the coaches, disinterested in the team and virtually no man management of the players. The way the Swans play has been predictable this year. Unlucky with injuries but some team selections have been baffling. Hue Jenkins is an astute chairman so far, big test for him now...

Glenn Hoddle reportedly for Swansea. Perfect fit in terms of football. Likes young players playing on the deck. Spanish background too

I don't agree with it, but I have no idea why he can't hold the view he has; some religions have far worse views and that's seemingly all well and good.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
I just read a part of Neville's book about hoddle..
He said our lads were getting injected with stuff he couldn't say what it was but it gave them an energy boost. He said the team had to walk around the pitch anti clockwise before the game and that hoddle would touch all the players hearts ritual style before the games..
I remember that he used to have a witch on board but I forgot about all the other stuff......

Eileen Drewery. Faith healer that would run her fingers through players hair and make them invincible.
One player asked her for a short, back and sides and was subsequently dropped if I remember correctly.
Hoddle is a decent coach per se but manager? Not so much.
