CM Punk has left the building *breaking news*
This doesn't sound good at all.
Trouble in paradise.
Just one night after he was the Iron Man in the Royal Rumble match, lasting some 48 minutes from the number one entry spot, CM Punk wasn't booked to appear on Monday Night Raw. This was due to a number of rewrites demanded by Chairman of the Board Vince McMahon.
Now comes a report from the Wrestling Observer that says Punk told McMahon that very night that he was going home before doing just that and, as of right now, he is off all WWE shows going forward.
There isn't any information available outside of that right now. Punk hasn't tweeted anything out since praising fans following the Royal Rumble event this past Sunday night in Pittsburgh.

This could equally be seen as Punk being truly unprofessional

After me saying Punk will be around for years you can be guaranteed that this will be true, I think WWE wait until I comment then just rip the hole out of me

although, i didnt think it would be this soon. i figured he'd wait til atleast after this years mania to see what was happening. but im guessing hes seen how the rumble and last nights raw was going.
fair play to him. hes clearly a million miles ahead of anyone else in the company. but hes nowhere near a packed main event scene which involves orton, cena, bryan, batista and lesnar

He's still got a contract, albeit one that is to expire soon so if he has just walked out, WWE have a good case to sue him for a lot of money, considering he's a top star. Nothing from the WWE and not all the news sites are picking up this story so I'm not sure how true it is, or at least it might not be a permanent thing.
I would be very surprised if Punk has gone forever.

Re: CM Punk has left the building *breaking news*
Punk reportedly told Vince and other WWE officials this in a meeting before the show went on the air.
While Punk vs. Triple H was planned for WrestleMania XXX, word now is that Triple H will be facing Daniel Bryan in New Orleans this April.
While Punk is under contract through July, he is no longer factored into company plans. According to one source, the original script for Monday's RAW had Punk losing to Antonio Cesaro after Kane interfered, allowing Cesaro to qualify for the Elimination Chamber. Another source denies that and says Punk was never scheduled to wrestle Monday night and was only scheduled for an in-ring promo at Kane. Punk was not backstage during RAW and was not at SmackDown last night. It's believed that the late RAW re-write at 6pm on Monday was because Punk had just informed officials he was going home and wouldn't be back.
Punk leaving is being described as a situation where he's unhappy and burnt out with the overall direction of the company. There's also a feeling among wrestlers that Punk has saved his money and just doesn't need it any more, even the big WrestleMania payday that was coming up.
Following the Royal Rumble on Sunday, Punk's mood was described as "pissy" but that's not an unusual description of Punk's demeanor backstage. One source believed that since Punk's last goal was to work a WrestleMania main event, it may be a situation where he realized it wasn't going to happen this year and with his WWE deal expiring in July, that may have weighed down upon him because he was so goal driven and this was one he couldn't accomplish because of elements that were outside of his control.

Wah wah wah, Punk doesn't get to Main Event Mania. Wah wah wah.
Yes, it's wrong that he busts his chops for 365 for Rock/Batista/Undertaker/HHH to take the top spot every year, but this is hardly WWE against Punk. What more does he want from WWE? Does he think he deserves to have every last accolade on offer written for him to win? He gets a hell of a lot more out of the company than most other guys on the roster, who bust their chops equally as much. They don't get the payday; they don't even get on the card of the big PPV events. If they ALL stepped up their game, maybe the WWE wouldn't clamour outside the gates of the retirement home for the has-beens to show up every year.

Or maybe he has just decided the best way to achieve his goal to main event Wrestlemania is to quit. He will now get a part in the movies and then in 4 years time he can come back for a huge pay day and and a Wrestlemania main event.

I'm a big fan of Punk but you never heard these stories of him complaining about the "direction of the company" when he won the title at MITB 2011 or when he had his 434 day run as WWE champion.
Can't wait for WWE to bring back Confidential and have an hour long character assassination of CM Punk, which will include a brutal burial by his one time best friend Paul Heyman.

Apparently his success went to his head.
Punk might have a lot of money saved away but you can be sure if he has actually just walked, WWE will be suing him for millions.
I think he's just posturing for a new contract for more assurances about the direction of his character and likely a pay rise.

He should give Warrior a call.
If anyone knows how to quit before a big event and get away with it, he does.

I think that had it been a different winner of the Rumble (say Bryan or Reigns), then maybe Punk would've stayed. I think he's probably annoyed that the E have gone down the route of "We'll bring back someone who hasn't been here for years, and make them headline Wrestlemania".
But then again, I've read that he's still on the listing for Elimination Chamber...So maybe a return and he places himself in the Chamber?

This doesn't sound good at all. Sounds legit, also i really don't recall Punk's name being mentioned once on Raw.
Well done WWE. Idiots.
That being said, if this is true Punk has been very unprofessional and let a lot of his fans down.

But as Y2D2 alluded to, he didn't have problem losing his title in a high profile match to a returning Rock who went on to headline Mania.

If he has thrown the toys out the pram then I hope Kofi/Ziggler get pushed up the roster. They bust their chops just as much and get far less reward than punk
Re: CM Punk has left the building *breaking news*
He was quite vocal about not being happy with The Rock's return but has endorsed Batista's return because he's actually signed a two year contract, rather than having the odd appearance like The Rock.

The more I hear about CM Punk personally, the more he comes across as a turd.
I understand he's good and hard working, but that doesn't give a reason to walk out when you're not given the spot you want. Whatever you think of the WWE, wrestlers are still employees - do the job and take the paycheck. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. He's had plenty of success and accolades afforded to him etc - waiting a little longer for a WM Main Event can't be too painful considering his success.

Judge and be judged. So the mood is leaning toward punk being an ungrageful ......punk. No one really knows anything right now.
I think punk has just become disillusioned with the same acts being pushed and the Bryan treatment. You can imagine punk being quite vocal about it in the back at shows. I believe he tweeted something about well done the crowd in regards to their reaction at the rumble, so that tells you where his at is at.
Quick note about raw with HHH and Stephenie you could see their looks to one another as if to say "how and why is this guy so over what do you see that we dont" and by the way thats not acting. Instead it of embracing it they spite it.

If you were really unhappy with your job, you would want to leave. Punk is a position where he earned a lot of money and is lucky enough to not have to work if he chooses that option. He puts his body on the line nearly every night of the year so I think he has the right to walk away if he chooses to regardless of contract status. I'm currently reading The Secret Footballer's book and he points out that just because footballers earn a lot of money, doesn't mean they enjoy it or that sometimes, with the pressures they face, it feels like a normal job.
It'll be interesting to see where this goes over the next couple of weeks. Surely Punk's high place on the Mania card is gone now if he chooses to come back?

Thank you for your comment which added so much to this discussion. Kofi or Dolph were examples of hard workers who haven't received the push punk did/has
Equally you could look at Ambrose or Rollins or Reigns as possibilities for that spot
Re: CM Punk has left the building *breaking news*
They are also examples of people who havent got the talent Punk has.
Punk will probably be chuffed if he can go back to ROH for a bit. He'd probably love to get involved in their booking too, all the behind the scenes stuff.

Re: CM Punk has left the building *breaking news*
Feel kind of sorry for him, but he's not gone the best way to get anything sorted. He's been promised things in the past and nearly walked out before (didn't he last threaten to walk before last years Mania as he was told he would go over taker?)
Him and Daniel Bryan put on consistently good matches night after night (and get amazing reactions from the crowd) but are not reaping the rewards for it. They should be at the top of the card for Mania if not at least one of them in the final match.
Kane has become of a stop gap feud for people ( look at Cena and Orton at the start of 2012) so has became someone not many really care about now as part of any feud no matter who they are against. So the likes of Punk against him is pointless and he has only shown any relevance in the last two years when he was teaming with Bryan.
Batista is only a draw to his own Wrestling fans. He is not anywhere near the likes of The Rock who has made himself into one of Hollywoods leading men. Batista's biggest role has yet to come out or yet to begin being advertised so Summerslam would of been a better main event for him.
The WWE is not going to make as much money on this Mania as other Manias due to it being aired on the Network for $9.99 a month subscription rather than what people paid for an individual PPV of $55.99 (approx).
This was the time for them to finally pull the trigger and try something new at the top of Mania rather than trotting out the old guard or the return part timers looking to advertise a movie. Because it's more than likely that the Network will appeal to those who are of a more mature age that will have been championing Bryan and Punk that will purchase the monthly subscription as they'll be looking to watch the content that they have been screaming at WWE to revert to, namely the attitude era.

He still has a contract though, he definitely won't be allowed to go to Ring of Honour for at least the six months remaining and WWE will definitely have a strong case to sue him for a lot of money. If Punk was smart he'd have just let his contract expire.
