Welcome to Season 6 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1991.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Structured Window
No cash will be used and each team will get effectively free transfers by way of a draft, which will run 12th, 11th, 10th …… 1st, 12th, 11th,10th… 1st place side. This will run from 10th June 2013 until all teams have had their two picks.
Open Window
Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them. Teams may only bid for one player at a time.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Saturday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box. If you are not providing a descriptive prediction you will be restricted to predicting a 1 point win either way.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
At least 10 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Taylor is one of the great attacking players In world rugby. Not great when you kick in behind him or defensively but fantastic to watch and can win a game on his own

Cips has been amazing this season for Sale, not sure how he can be criticised really - I'd have loved him back at Wasps as he'd completely change our backline - though the Samoan we've signed could well do that for us.
Cips will go on the England tour, wonder whether there will be many surprise call ups - they are talking about taking Wade even if he doesnt play for wasps before the end of the season - hope Daly goes he's been brilliant for us the last few games.

Re: Season 6 Homepage IV
Wade is worth the gamble especially with Nowell out.
Ashton/Wade for right wing, May/Yarde for right will be the spots I imagine.
Not sure Daly will go, I've been unimpressed with him at 13. He's just too un-physical and looked a little lost defensively at 13. He's a much better 15 imo but it's a really competitive spot with Brown/Goode playing so well.
I won't add any more on Cips, I don't rate him and dislike him as a rugby player.

Re: Season 6 Homepage IV
Daly has got a lot better for Wasps since going back to his actual position, he's involved so much more and a better attacking threat from there. The try he set up last week against Bath was fantastic, aren't many who can do things like that. Don't see any issues with him defensively, and has the pace to make up any issues positionally.
He must be on Lancaster's radar as has been the '24th' man on quite a few occasions for England.
Some really good youngsters who could get a chance, been really impressed with Charlie Matthews at Quins recently.
Did Webber get injured against Saints?

Webber twisted something, looked bad but he just got strapped.
I think Daly's position is 15, he looks a bit lost at 13. Needs to add some muscle as he gets thrown around too much. He'll not play 13 for England at his current level imo, he's not a good enough centre. 15 maybe.

Sale right in this. Youngs throwing garbage. Leicester line not functioning as well as usual with Gibson, Parling and Slater all making errors.

Pooly, how can you not rate Cips as a player on current form? He's lost some of his spark but he has matured his game in every aspect he was previously lacking. Still not perfect and not first choice for England but he has worked on his weaknesses and is the second most important player for the new Sale. Entitled to your opinion but can't see where you think Cips is falling short

Re: Season 6 Homepage IV
I've never rated Cips CJ.
He's picked up this season but his defence still gets caught out and he runs lateral a lot. Also throwing mis passes all the time doesn't warrant attacking flair imo.
This is his best season in a long time but he's likely to implode and it's always about Cipriani. The talk of a move away from Sale is typical him.
He's a toxic player.

Think he should stay at Sale and still unsure of his character but Manu have said that about Care in the past, and implying it about Brown and Marler now, so I'm willing to cut him some slack. Any England funny business though and his last chance is gone

Wouldn't agree with any of those things about cipriani any more - he's been class this season, improved his defence so much this year. It's like he's finally decided to be a rugby player again.
He's had a lot of unfair press over the years - an arrogant sod but think you need to be for the style he plays. He's been best 10 in the AP this year and has had a lot of positive comments about his attitude and you don't hear people saying his disruptive or things like that anymore.

Bizarre rugby chat as ever from pooly. You used to say the same about Ashton yet now you have him oh here he should be England winger !????
My take is cips is a prat but is playing amazingly well. Been best ten in AP by a distance so will tour.
Most players hated dallaglio also.
Is Ashton "toxic"
You need to pick in form players and believe people can change.

I've never said anything like that about Ashton. I've picked on Ashton for lack of form and poor defence, he's been the best winger in the NH this season.
I have never liked or rated Cipriani, he's a prat.

Re: Season 6 Homepage IV
I think you have to allow that people grow up. I'll give Shane Geraghty as an example. In 2009 he couldn't get his own way at Irish so threw his toys out of the pram and left for Northampton. He clearly had attitude issues there with reports of incidents including him Wee weeing under Mallinders hotel room door on an away trip. So he left there under a cloud and went to France, where it appears he grew up a bit.
Now back at Irish, he is part of the leadership group and has captained the side. He comes across as more mature on and off the field and still has the potential to do very well for us.
Now I can't speak for Cipriani or Ashton, but if Shane can mature, then so can they.

Voice of sense. Well said pete.
Both Ashton and Cips have been dropped for their attitude previously . Everyone says cips attitude has changed and that his defence is decent now.
Going forward Ashton is the best English wing. Huge doubts over his defence and as ever but I am sure his defence will have improved at sarries In some way.
He will not be available for the first test but must have a small chance of getting in the second test depending on how we fair in the first test

Re: Season 6 Homepage IV
You can't compare Ashton & Cipriani.
Ashton has never really had club problems and is a complete professional compared to the toxic attitude of Cipriani who is universally disliked and never out of the papers.
Cipriani has barley produced it in the pitch over the last 4/5 seasons either, he's been extremely erratic. He still has defensive problems and is a little too "Spencer" like for me. He's levelled off a bit this season but needs to be tested at a higher level i.e. HC.

Re: Season 6 Homepage IV
Ashton was known at Saints for having serious attitude problems, a lot of Saints fans were glad to see the back on him.
Thing is with Cipriani is that because of how he went out with who he did, every single time something happened, like when Lewsey knocked him out ended up in the papers. Things like that happen all the time, he's certainly arrogant but press really made him out to be far worse than he was.
A lot of the stuff happened when he was young, he's clearly improved his rugby and is taking his rugby very seriously - he's had a great season and should get called into the England squad without a doubt, as who else would you pick - Burns well off form, Flood going to France, Myler never be good enough to be an international standard fly half. The guy is 26 and he deserves another shot.

Farrell wont be there for the first game, Ford might not be if Bath make the final. Sure it will be an extended squad.
The tour is ridiculous in timing - if Saints and Sarries make the playoff then we lose half a team.
There's no point in taking Myler, he isn't an international player - a great club player and very good for Saints. Got to take the most inform players.

I'd be surprised if Bath made the final, Ford and Twelvetrees as backup for the 1st test would be ok.

The tour is ridiculous in timing - if Saints and Sarries make the playoff then we lose half a team.
There's no point in taking Myler, he isn't an international player - a great club player and very good for Saints. Got to take the most inform players.
Myler in form. ??? Saints and myler off the boil.
Twelve trees is injured and may miss the nz tour . Chris I think the timing is good as we can try some
Players and depth.
If quins beat bath and we lose quins players it will be harder
Work.
Care brown marler and robshaw are
Massive losses.
Rumoured Charlie Walker will tour in the telegraph which for me is far too early. Been injured and whilst defo a future England player this is not the time to pick him. Needs to mature physically

Table up to date.
Playoff battle is a three way shoot out with Saints dropping out.
Worcester need maximum points and other results going in their favour to avoid relegation.

All to play for. Shows the league has got tighter and lots of the tweaks have worked

Gutted I managed to get myself deducted 3 points across the season, as if I hadn't I would be guaranteed top spot. have never finished 1st before. Was second in the table every season with Saracens.

Strange fighting it out at the other end, I think I was 7pts clear at the bottom when I took over.
Best manager each season will win the league so it's all to fight for. My money is split between Tigers/Wasps but Sale are on fire, didn't even realise they were in top 4!
