Soderling
Apologies if this has already been covered.
Just found this article about Robin Soderling becoming tournament director at the Stockholm Open
http://www.sportskeeda.com/tennis/robin-soderling-director-stockholm-open-refutes-retirement-rumours/
Do you think he can come back as a top player after all this time or is there a sizeable element of wishful thinking on his part?
He was never my favourite player but I hate to see a career ended by illness. I hope he can have a swansong on his own terms.

Re: Soderling
Can't see that he will be back to anything near the top of the game (getting a bit long in the tooth and has been out for such a long time), but it would be good to see him able to return to competition and to perform at a reasonable level as a swansong.
Always liked his approach of hitting hard and flat at the lines - not a way to become consistent, but when it worked, very difficult to beat. Of course his place in tennis legend is assured by being the only player to beat Nadal at Rolland Garos...

Very true, I had forgotten that. Many have tried and only one has managed. His style is a little.....indelicate for my taste but I hope he can make some kind of comeback on his terms.

Re: Soderling
DelPo in recovery, Soderling AWOL. Two of the hardest hitters of the fluff off the ball.
Hope BOTH come back.

Only man to beat Nadal at Roland Garros.
Soderling was a late developer much like Wawrinka. But for illness, he could well have bagged a major and a few more 1000s.

Re: Soderling
when the most rememebered achievement is a victory over nadal in 4th round....
the two finals at roland garros show how good he was those years... but it all ended so soon after that

I enjoyed Soderlings 2009, 2010 and 2011 Roland Garros meetings with Nadal. Always was fun. Welcome back anytime.
