It got to the point that he'd be in breakaways and would get dropped along with the really rubbish fighter types

Yet Frank Schleck is still doing alright tbf

Mad for Chelsea wrote:what an odd career Schleck had. Looked for all the world like a future superstar after the 08 TdF (the one Sastre won, but his teammate Schleck looked comfortably the strongest climber IMO), finished runner-up the next three years (being given the 2010 title since) without doing much elsewhere, and then basically vanished without a trace. Participated in a few GTs since without ever featuring anywhere, I know he's had a few injuries, but it's completely weird for a career to pan out that way...
If I remember right there was a period of a couple of months in which he got badly injured, was awarded the Tour, and his brother failed a drug test; after which he was never the same. Some people think it was chemical, others think it just fried him mentally. He always seemed like someone who had found things came to him pretty easily before, and after he looked like someone that hadn't been willing to push himself in training.

Looking like no Froome for the Tour next year, going to concentrate on the Giro and Vuelta. So he's the first to suggest he isn't going to throw in his hat for all of the big 3. Seems like the lack of time trials is putting him off.

I never reckoned him-dodgy and fragile-witness the incident where he shed his chain and blamed Bertie. And I think his brother covered for him a lot.
