Well deserved from Treviso. They have really tried to play positive rugby and have their tactics spot on. Now can Edinburgh show some spirit? Edinburgh look a bit weakened by the subs . But lets see some real fight from the exfoliators. Long way back now but there is time.

What's most worrying is that it's a reasonable Edinburgh team.

Great effort by Du Preez to salvage a losing bonus point.

I dunno - not much experience in the backs and the subs really weakened the team. However a good win for Treviso, they won rather than Edinburgh lost as Trevisio played well organised attacking rugby, soaked up the pressure when needed and took their chances well

- Dickinson

- Gilchrist
- Denton
- Du Preez
- Hart
- Scott
- Strauss
- Cuthbert

Will all feature prominently next season so it is worrying IMO.

One tiny shred of optimism...

Well, you know how Man City improved with oil money... If Scotland was to become i*******, would we get oil money and be able to create the Toulon of the North or create 50 Scottish pro teams??

Nope - on top in the first half. Who the subs were I am not sure but we definitely had the best of the first half scrums

Dull yin.

Didn't see much of the game, but sounds like we did lots of good things but let in some soft scores?

Sounds like Denton had a stormer, how did Scott do at 13?

Real blow to lose that, we've really, really got to beat the dragons or else we're going to finish very low in the league indeed

Just watched it on iPlayer. Worth watching the half time clips of the finale to the club season. Great tries from Grossman and Hoyland.

We lost against Treviso because of some dreadful one on one tackles leading up to their try, Kennedy and Strauss the guilty parties, and brown horribly misread an aimless long kick from McLean to gift them field position.

Cuthbert was very solid, always making ground, and I thought Hidalgo-Clyne looked sharp from the bench at centre, although I prefer him at 9.

Average performance from Scott. He should play ahead of Strauss at 12, with NDL or Beard at 13. Strauss is solid, nothing more.

He didn't miss any, it was actually Strauss who missed the worst tackle, and Kennedy's effort on the Treviso hooker makes Dan Parks look like Brian Lima.

I think Kennedy picked up some bad habits with the soap dodgers.....

Had ample opportunity to win that match and I think if Du Preez (who otherwise was good) hadn't butchered the simple try scoring chance then I think we would probably have gone on to do so. Denton and Cuthbert were both very good last night.

I thought it all went awry when Scott, and moreso Hart, went off. Kennedy did not have a good showing at all.

Scott looked decent at 13, made a few breaks and has some good touches but the team as a whole failed to make much of it, think he needs to be at 12 to be more involved. He overcooked his grubber when Leonard made a good break, which was disappointing.

Thought SHC looked pretty good wherever he was playing (I thought it was the wing) - as with the Ulster game, I couldn't quite work out who was playing where after the substitutions.

Yes, the substitutions didn't help things at all, as you say Hart was playing pretty well (bar a couple of not so good kicks) and Kennedy wasn't as effective. I thought Scott looked good at 13 with room to be creative, but perhaps he wouldn't have the same chance against other opposition. SHC did look lively but quite why we had three 9s in the squad is strange when one had to play out of position.

Strange thst Solomons seems to have changed his subs policy, and sounds like most of them made the team much worse off!

Was nel off when the scrum started going backwards? Really glad we shipped cross off (who has yet to feature fir Glasgow)

It was on Blaauw's side that the scrum started to crumble. Where is Lewis Niven? he gave BJ Botha of all people fits at the beginning of the season.

Jeez - didn't realise that Edinburgh hadn't won any away matches this season. Bizarre contrast to Glasgow who have won almost all of theirs but can't buy a victory at home.

Really wonder what Solomons makes of all these diktats from the SRU that certain players must play and certain players must be rested. Clearly there is some sort of agreement that interference like this is tolerated. What I wonder is whether the same arrangement is in place next year.

Let's just hope that Solomons retains the power to completely sweep away the dead wood at the end of this season. Surely he does. He wouldn't have come here otherwise.

I can't help but feel that the Edinburgh pack is missing a cornerstone, who should also be captain. Gilchrist and Denton are just youngsters and would benefit very much from having a Paul O'Connell figure. I think that letting go of VdW must have been a tough call because I always assumed that the mainstay was him. Would love it if Edinburgh could take Mr Clarke from Connacht, for example.

Well we''ve got zebre and dragons away to come so hopefully we can win at least one of those! I'm not so sure though.

Tell you what though connacht are well and truly throwing their hat into the ring for 6th place! They did is a favour drawing with the scarlets too.

Probably a bit strong. Treviso were never that bad a side especially with all their Italian internationals playing, Munster struggled against them last week. They were very badly effected by all the uncertainty about their future in the Rabo but seem to have settled down now. Glasgow should not take them lightly next week, it is a potential banana skin game!

So they did, but they got 2 points out of it which helps their push for 6th. We could have done without the Scarlets getting a BP win though, as 11 points is a long way away. Unless Scarlets completely capitulate for the rest of the season I don't think we can catch them.

It was the Dragons that drew with Zebre with a last minute try, so Zebre did us a favour!
