The Official Leicester City Premier League Thread
After a decade of hurt we are back where we belong!!
I cant wait to be tested against the best teams in the country. So far the new arrivals to the first team are Matthew Upson from Brighton, Marc Albrighton from Aston Villa and Ben Hamer from Charlton.
But for me, the best signings are keeping hold of manager Nigel Pearson, and star goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Bring it on!!!

Typical of the Forest fan to p!ss on my blue and white parade
Seriously though that is what Im worried about. I hope the owners dont get delusions of grandeur and sack Pearson because we are in the lowly position of 15th in the league.

Radio 1 jas just announced that Kasper Schmeichel has signed a new contract. Brilliant news. Was by far and away the best keeper in the Championship last season, and I think he will become the out and out Denmark number 1 next season.

Fantastic news for you lot. But Ben Hamer, not quite sure why he has joined you lot, he has been brilliant for Charlton the last 2 seasons in the Championship. Could of easily had good offers to remain a number one, whilst to grab a better paycheck to become a number 2.

We are about to break our transfer record for Leonardo Ulloa from Brighton. £7m. If anything I am glad we dontn have the distintion of Ade Akinbiyi being our most expensive player ever.
16 goals in the Championship isnt bad and I believe he missed some of the season through injury so I will see how this goes.

It is ludicrous what Championship strikers are going for these days. Nearly 28 with a pretty "meh" record. But its better than an over the hill chancer, I guess, and if you go down you've got someone who won't just jump ship

His record is superb in English football, no denying that what so ever. But for a lad at 28 that has never played in the top flight, 7 million is simply too much dosh. I think he will do well at the foxes and he deserves to be in the top flight. Be interesting to see if the officials hate him as much as the officials in the Championship do.

Over the hill chancer - Well they could have resigned Barry Hayles but he's joined Truro again!

Re: The Official Leicester City Premier League Thread
I have total trust in our management team though. People like Anthony Knockaert and Riyad Mahrez have been found by super scout Steve Walsh (not to be confused with Leicester legend Steve Walsh). He was also the man that bought Didier Drogba to Chelsea so I will stand by his judgment completely.
Leonardo Ulloa, David Nugent, Jamie Vardy and Chris Wood. Im happy with them 4. Think Gary Taylor-Fletcher may end up going on loan though...

Not exactly desperate for him but I suppose it would be a good signing.
Beat Ilkeston Town 6-1 last night. The next game is a showcase friendly against Everton in Thailand.

3-2 win over Walsall with 2 screamers from Nugent and Drinkwater. 3 wins out of 3 so far. Preston next on Saturday.

Re: The Official Leicester City Premier League Thread
So Rotherham were beaten 3-1. Leo Ulloa got his first 2 goals for us. Still unbeaten in pre season so far with only one game left. However that is at home to Werder Bremen who recently beat Chelsea 3-0 so I cant see us winning that one.

Schmeichel GK
Konchesky LB
Moore CB
Morgan CB
De Laet RB
Knockaert LM
Drinkwater CM
James CM
Albrighton LM
Nugent ST
Ulloa ST
That is quite difficult as players such as Vardy, King and Mahrez deserve a place in the team too...

I'd be worried by that team because it definitely isn't Premier League quality. Going to need some teams like Aston Villa or Hull to be really poor so you can scrape into survival.

No need for other teams to worry about us being poor.
That team isn't all that bad.
One thing is the team spirit will be good.
They got up together, now time for them to stay up.
Will be keeping an eye on Albrighton.

Yeah its a team filled with players I'd put in the category of good Championship players. Always wondered how Morgan would do in the Prem, suspect he might have a few dodgy moments vs better players.

Re: The Official Leicester City Premier League Thread
Really tough set of opening fixtures for Leicester: home to Everton and Arsenal, and away to Chelsea, all in August.
They could be going to Stoke (Leicester's fourth game) having lost three out of three and already be under considerable amounts of pressure.

Re: The Official Leicester City Premier League Thread
I have faith. Maybe its misplaced but I see a young team who WILL become Premier League quality. Certainly players like Drinkwater and Knockaert. Vardy too I think will be a handful. Nugent will be better than he was last time as he is older and wiser now. Ulloa will hopefully make the step up. Moore is a Premier League defender in the making. Schmeichel last season was the best GK outside the Premier League by miles so I think he will be at home. I honestly think we will finish somewhere between 11th and 15th.

Cracking start. 2-2 against Everton. 87th minute equaliser from Chris Wood. Glad Wolves didnt get him now. The other goal was scored by Leo Ulloa on his debut. Chelsea and Arsenal next. Easy 6 points...

Well what a result against Arsenal! 1-1. We have faced 3 of last season's top 5 and have acquitted ourselves really well. Stoke and Man Utd next 2. Let's forget about the Shrewsbury game...

Well...
3-1 down against Man Utd and we come back to win 5-3. I went to the game and it was the best £40 I have ever spent. Definitely an "I was there" moment. Jamie Vardy was man of the match. I was saying for weeks that he needed to start a game and I was proved right. As for Ulloa, I think Brighton should feel disappointed they only got £8m for him. What a signing!!!

Re: The Official Leicester City Premier League Thread
Playing Leicester on Saturday in a six pointer, absolutely huge. John Carver has already stated we can't defend set pieces & Riviere, who can't hit a barn door, is starting up front for the game. I'm pretty sure if Nigel Pearson phoned Carver up or emailed him this week & asked for more information on the weaknesses & tactics of Newcastle going into the game, he'd been more than happy enough to share the information. Absolute embarrassment.

Re: The Official Leicester City Premier League Thread
I remember reading about a month ago or so, that Carver didn't know anyone in his side could take corners, when Ryan Taylor was injured & that it took a club scout to tell him that Sammy Ameobi could take corners, much to the surprise of Carver. He hadn't been a coach for years & under Pardew, does he not watch the players or something? Clueless. Feel sorry for you John, tactically you were all over the shop vs Swansea, can't see you winning against a resurgent Leicester at all, Carver is taking you in one direction.
