So with Hooper coming in today, that's now 7 signings this summer (although Garrido/RVW were done pre-summer)

Still expect an attacking midfielder and a centre half to come in, with maybe a loan striker

Yeah Redmond is a winger.

Expect to see someone to play AM, as competition/replacement for Wessi

Howson maybe? When Benno played AM for Brighton he was class, he could play AM as back up to Wes?

I've never been convinced Howson is best at an AM, he's better in the box to box role. Benno played well in the cup there, but he's still competing for a place on the wing.

I like Wes, but we need an upgrade there really. A quality no 10 would go a long way to solving our creativity issues

General question Olly The official "Norwich City to 49 points and a 10th place finish" Thread 3559488474

How do you fit Hooper/RVW into the same side especially when you usually play 4-5-1?

I'm not too sure if you do to be honest Nando.

There has been murmurs that RVW could play in behind Hooper, in a sort of second striker role, seeming as Hooper likes to play on the last shoulder.

I think the Hooper signing does give us a lot of options. They could play in a 4-4-2 together, when we do play it. RVW could play in behind Hooper. Or simply Hooper could come off the bench, and offer a goal threat there.

Hooper sort of reminds me of a Defoe type striker

Hughton said that under him at brum Redmond had played behind the striker or as a second striker on occasion and could use him like that here to press after he signed

Tettey is actually more of an attacking midfielder which is where he played in Norway, hence why he seemed lost when being played defensivley last season and better in the cup games where he was given more of a free role.
Howson for me plays better as an attacking midfielder again likes the free role more than having to camp on the half way line
I dont see why people are looking for hoolahan to be replaced right now any way, he has atleast another 2/3 seasons at this level

Redmond really isn't up to much through the center. Better outwide where he has space to utilise his pace.

Olly

Hooper or RVW?

I have budgeted for either, swaying toward Hooper but obviously you'll know which will suit your play more as I can see them both starting

Think RVW will play more, but have a funny feeling Hooper might score more.

Gut feeling would be Hooper

Decent run out for the lads tonight, got a 1-1 away to Brighton

Sounds like 1st half we played well, 2nd half got a bit leggy and changes disrupted the flow

Redmond is by all accounts having a storming pre-season

He'll be a good signing for you.

Not got great pace, can be bullied off the ball at times, but he's great in possession, and technically is a very handy footballer. Not sure whether LM or CM is his best position tho.

RVW off the mark tonight, after Hooper got off the mark in Braga.

Good signs tonight, much more creativity in the team, and we certainly looked a more potent attacking threat.

However a problem has arisen

SSN just showed a Norwich goal before the ad break. Said big money signing is looking good, he knew nothing about it. Someone headed it down and it just happened to hit his knee and go in as he was wondering across the six yard box.

Right place, right time, like all good strikers, come on Nick Wink

Fer is suspended first game of the season, for picking up two yellows in the Dutch playoffs last season (I didn't think these things crossed associations but they do apparantly). Anyways that is a blow for Everton at home, cos from what we've seen in pre-season he is a machine.

Also seem to have the injury bug at the moment. Pilks and Bassong struggling to make the Everton game, which is concerning. Although Redmond has looked good in pre-season, so hopefully he can step up. Worried about the defence without Bassong tho.

They do seem to cross associations these days, I remember Barton moved abroad thinking it meant he wouldn't be suspended and it didn't work! Laugh

Good win to round off pre-season, definately seeing a development in our play, looking to retain possession a lot more now, and have a lot more pace in our attacks.

Hooper taken off on a stretcher, having an x-ray, although they don't think its anything worse than just a knock, with some bruising

We drew 1-1 with Braga, looked awful. Can see us getting a pasting against Man City on MNF and then our season really begins. Norwich playing 4-4-2 or a 4-2-3-1 formation? Hopefully Hooper's injury ain't too bad, looking forward to seeing him play this year in the EPL.

We are playing the 4-2-3-1 formation John, and I hope we stick with it.

Whenever we play 4-4-2 we look awful, can't keep possession, no link between the midfield and strikers, and end up playing hoofball.

This would be my line up tomorrow (Bassong/Pilkington out, Hooper doubtful is the injury news btw, Fer suspended)

-----------------Ruddy--------------
Martin-----Turner---Bennett---Olsson
Snodgrass---Howson--Tettey--Redmond
----------------Hoolahan--------------
-----------------RVW-----------------

Not too fussed about Garrido/Olsson at LB, expect Johnson to get the nod over Tettey unfortunately. Really really hope Redmond starts LM, will be seriously Frak off if Hughton starts Olsson LM and Garrido LB

25 coaches will leave Carrow Road for Hull this Saturday! RT if you'll be on one of them! #CanaryConvoy

I won't unfortunately Sad

But that'll be at least 2,000-2,500 going on coaches alone. Gonna be a big away following I reckon

Hull is a good away game, lots of pubs and the area wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. Stewards very friendly and the ground is actually very nice.

Im going, 18 quid

decent signing in elmander as a different kind of option to hooper/RVW
Still in for toivonen too which will drag until last day. If we get him or another striker Becchio will go out on loan somewhere but not before

Send Becchio to us Smile

18 quid is a bargain. Is that full adult price tooze? Or some sort of young persons price?

Chris Hughton: 'We have some bad news on Elliott Bennett. He has a problem with his knee that will keep him out for a few months.'
