Welcome to Season 7 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game.  Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to.  If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players.  If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (SJE) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players.  Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1992.

Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.
  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected.  No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.

    Open Window

Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them.  Teams may only bid for one player at a time.

The window will open from the 9th of June but only to those sides that finish 8th and below at first. They will have a week to make one signing each before the window is open to all.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players.  Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches.  These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 15:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved).  An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result.  To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.

For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

CJ if you are looking for players in the backs on foreigns I think proctor the hurricanes FB looks really tidy

Also moala from
The blues can play wing or centre well.

From the national league page you could pick up McMillan the Leeds FB who was a star last year. He has signed for glos and we have high hopes for him once we shift some
Weight off him.

Not sure if anyone has signed samu kerevi the reds 13 but
He looks a prospect also

Also not sure if he has been signed but Steve released Chisholm the Quins flyer who is now back from injury.

Our squad sizes were 50 or 55 previously so there are lots of good players you could buy through releases for depth.

I released
Tom Palmer who could help your English and many more

Goosen playing well for the Cheetahs against the Sharks at the moment. Sharks left a few big guns out though, Bismarck, Jannie and Alberts all on the bench.

Goosen looked decent in his brief SA return but picked up a silly knock which seems to be a habit.

In pollard lambie goosen and steyn SA have 4 good options.

Steyn I rate highly despite lots
Of people not fancying him.

Goosen electric and can play a high tempo game and really ignite a backline. Pollard similarly

Lambie great all rounder and can play any way.

SA have such depth in many positions. 9 an issue but after that all good

He played JWC 2 years ago for Fiji U20's and would still have been eligible to play this year as he's not 21 until September. He's a typical young player of Fijian descent. Big, powerful and loves an offload. Needs to work on the fundamentals like positioning and decision making.

Yawn his defence is incredible. Every coach and pundit say he is world class. You said AAC would be 13
During the June tests
But he did not get a look in at 13.

After Conrad smith he is next in line with tuilagi.

I prefer to take the view of proper rugby people. If you saw his over head back door pass vs France you would not question his defence.

Ludicrous opinion on his hands and defence but you do have previous to be fair

I have seen nobody suggest he is world class. The Aussies on the main board have found his inclusion baffling.

"After Conrad smith he is next in line with tuilagi"

I would be surprised if anybody on here thought he was the 2d best 13 in world rugby. I don't even think he's top 5.

Really good article on the Aussie 13 jersey

http://tenplay.com.au/news/2014/04/22/who-will-wear-the-wallabies-no-13-in-2014

"2. Tevita Kuridrani (Brumbies)

Twelve months ago I was all but certain that Kuridrani was the man to reinvigorate the Wallabies back line from No. 13. Today, I am very, very unconvinced.

There is no question that the big man is (as much as I hate the phrase) an X-factor player. When he’s on, he provides a barnstorming ball-running option combined with destructive defence capable of cutting a man in half. However, when he’s not on, there are too many dropped passes, two many poor lines and far too many defensive breaches caused by his tendency to race out of the line in search of a big hit.

Kuridrani is one of those players who falls into the Cliffy Palu mould of being brilliant to watch when things are clicking, yet frequently infuriating fans, coaches and teammates who lament how damaging he could be if he added an element of consistency to his game.

To be fair, it is likely that he will develop greater consistency as his career progresses and he gets more exposure to international rugby, and a relatively meaningless series against the French may be the best time to further his cause. In saying that, giving a player game time on the basis that they may become a world class talent is only a viable option when there is no better talent available at the time"

These are things I've been saying about Kuridrani since day 1....hardly a ludicrous opinion. It's just an opinion, one that is shared by other people.

Did you watch the France series?

He
Is 2 years in to his rugby career and has improved dramatically even from 6 months ago. All of these articles are from pretty poor sources. Rather trust pundits who have played ie mortlock and greenwood who think he is world class.

I do however recant the fact that he is the second best 13 along with tuilagi.

I forgot jd2 who for me is 2nd best 13 when fit and on form. Like many players he struggles to be fit in the modern game

I did watch the France series, we had a few discussions about it.

I'm not saying he's a poor defender, he's poor positionally and rushed out of the line time and time again. His hands are well off too. I'm only picking up on the "world beater" comment which he certainly isn't imo.

No he's poor.

Has horrendous defence, goes whole games without making a tackle. Too slow for the wing and too flakey for FB. He used to play FH but hasn't played there for us for years. He is a championship player at very best.

Could
Not
Understand why we were in for as 22 year old. saw he signed for 2 years in 2013.

We
Have cook the Leeds FB sharples and may who can play 15. Rumoured May to play more 13 as he did towards end of season and vs crusaders for England.

With Walshe as a coach we will be linked with tons of youth. Already signed Henry purdy.

We must be over the salary cap although tindall and burns were on silly cash. Tindall was best paid player

Flawed ATM, but sounds like Nonu at the same age!

Nonu has become a great of all time. Started as a wing but very much a 12.

Can be poor
In super rugby and then come internationals is mint.

If he has a bad game he always comes back with a good game the next.

He was poor
Most of super 15 but last 2
Months has been great. He was top today and his bosh on slade was immense.

Slade the opposite he looks great at super 15 but massively out of his depth at int level.

NZ fans(Canterbury excluded) have a real dislike for him.

All countries have their scape goats. Tim Payne used to get it badly. He was poor around the pitch but never let us down at scrum
Time.

Mike tindall and Ben Cohen had it also.

Noon and quite a few others have copped undue stick over the years.

Forgot about erinle who thankfully got few caps.

Worst for me was Phil de Granville. He was made captain when patently not an automatic pick. Thankfully that old boys network which hampered England for nearly a century is long gone.

We are family friends of the de glanvilles and most of them did not think he deserved selection let alone the captaincy.

He is now at Hartpury college as director of sport and has an events business.

He'll be doing well if he can become half the player Nonu is, at the minute he's not there imo.

His rating will carry until then. Rather he was out of action during off season when nobody else is playing either.

Just on way back from watching the Tour de France in London and as a nation we should be ashamed for how poorly we have handled it.

Complete disorganisation, not one place to buy a drink and 2 places to get food. Apparently the prices to be there were so high everybody dropped out.

Yorkshire looked cracking but London was embarrassing. They had a fan zone at Trafalgar Square and the only thing there was a stage and an Oakley sunglasses stall.

Think a few people will lose jobs over the way it was organised. Quite a few people fainted in the heat and none of the St. John's types could get any water. A real shambles of a day

7/8 month is a long time to hold rating, Crotty could do a job there for you I suppose. You've always had issues with centres.

Are those games any good ?

As a kid I loved Jonah lomus and was pretty unbeatable on
It.

After that there was never a decent rugby game.
I had
The last ps3 rugby game "rugby challenge" which was
Ok. Played
It a bit with my nephew.

I am not a gamer but love technology so bought most consoles. They all end up sitting there after a 2 week burst as I don't have the time or inclination.

End up buying gadgets all the time. Be It sonos
Through to kitchen gadgets.

It's a man thing gadgets.

Just looking at my front room
And seeing so many wires and things I no longer use

They're ok , It kills a bit of time more than anything.

I didn't get Rugby Challange games , every offload was SBW esque and NH hemesphere player ratings where well off. I have it on my ps3 but never play it.
