I wonder what sadist decided to arrange the South Africa game outside the IRB window, or even at all.
The end of a long season with a weakened squad, against the biggest most brutal pack in world rugby, it is Johnson-esque in its lack of foresight and cruelty!

It was in the Andy Robinson era.
The sru decided against having summer test series against the top 3, based on where we were as a nation and how competitive they would be.
They did however manage to get agreement that Scotland could play one off tests still, but unfortunately they would have to be out with the 3 Saturday slot.
Hence why that Australia game was a Tuesday.

Re: Scotland Summer Tour, Game 2: Canada v Scotland, 14 June
Just watched the game as I was working last night and as previously commented it was not very inspiring. Cowan did play well though and Lamont as usual was a standout in a poor performance. I thought some of the comments about Ritchie Gray a little harsh though, he put in an awful lot of defensive work, just did not see him going forward. That was down to the lack of control of the half backs, neither of whom played well.
We picked up some more bad injuries again, Kelly Brown will be out for a while with a torn bicep and Beattie has done his knee. Rugby seems to be no less physical even at this level. I guess injuries are always going to be a big danger with fatigued players at the end of a long season.
The sending off was tough, even if it was probably correct by the letter of the law. He would probably have got away with it 19 times out of 20 and it was only because he knocked Jacko out cold that it came to the refs attention. I don't think there was any intent and hopefully his sanction will be minimal.
I guess we take the win and move on. Hopefully the next lot will play a bit better than we saw yesterday.

Probably not a bad decision bearing in mind what we saw yesterday!
The one thing to say is that South Africa won't be at full strength either, not that they will need to be, all their European players will be out of window as well!
