Djokovic's Wrist
Djokovic withdrew from the Boodles exhibition today as a precaution against exacerbating his wrist problem.
Don't know what's going on there. Crocked in MC, misses Madrid but then wins Rome and makes the final of RG, seemingly without wrist pain (although he still strapped it). Now it's playing up again?
So that's zero warm up matches for Wimbledon and a possible injury niggle that we can add to his general big slam match malaise.
The number 1 seeding appears to be a touch generous right now!

Re: Djokovic's Wrist
if he withdraws before the draw... does nadal enter as number 1 and so on, or they insert a LL?
I know he is not withdrawing, but wanted to know how it would work

Re: Djokovic's Wrist
All looking even more rosy for Mr Murray again!! (Federer fans must also be thinking "Hang on a minute...")
As for Djokovic, I have no doubt he'll do well at Wimbledon. Injured or not he's still better than 99.9% of players on the tour. Maybe when the baby's born he'll have some time off to recover.

Re: Djokovic's Wrist
Before the draw, seedings can be changed - i.e., Nadal would be No 1 if Djokovic withdraws PRIOR to the draw. The subsequent players move up one place and the next "in line" would be the 32nd seed.
If he withdraws after the draw, depends on whether a match has been played; if a match has been played in that event, then a LL moves into his place in the draw. Yolu can't alter the seedings, after a match has been played in the event.

I wasn't talking about Nadal's ranking, I was talking about Djokovic's seeding for Wimbledon.naxroy wrote:

Re: Djokovic's Wrist
On the eve of the French Open final, Djokovic posted a picture of himself playing chess with Becker and a big bandage on his arm. I'm thinking the wrist injury is dubious, because Djokovic is trying to draw attention to it.

Crikey - you must think all of Rafa's injuries are very dubious then

Re: Djokovic's Wrist
well, its obvious now that nole didnt have a problem with the wrist, but was being conservative I guess
as much as I fear him, its better for the sport to have the best players fit and playing

Re: Djokovic's Wrist
Djokovic only looks good when Nadal goes crosscourt. When Nadal goes down-the-line its curtains. I've noticed Nadal goes down-the-line at their slam meetings more than twice as many times as at their non-slam meetings. I think Nadal is concealing down-the-line at non-slams so Djokovic feels the shock of it at slams. Very disciplined of Nadal to resist the temptation of using it at non-slams.

Re: Djokovic's Wrist
No, Nadal's FHDTL is effective against Novak when Nadal is holding a position close to the baseline.
That position only occurs when Nadal is confident, when he has the "good feeling".
There's no tactical omission going on.
