9 months carrying a weight and all you've got left is a promising kid - The (probably temporary) QPR Premier League thread 2014/2015
So, we're there. Only for a bit, but we're there (or here, at what point is there here after promotion?).
Let the overpayment begin and brown envelopes fly (allegedly). One thing's for certain, Rosie(?) the dog will have a burgeoning bank balance due to thesalary legitimate bonus payments for reaching the land of footballing milk and honey.
To start with I give you the final Ferdinand fling. Following Les (legend) and Anton (not sure what was at the end of his leg) we've apparently got Rio. Can he offer anything more at this level? Hope so and it's not just the end of his legs.
As long as we can put out a team instead of the ill fated collection of (expensive) individuals we managed last time round I'll be happy enough. As long as we keep at least one ball inside the ground each week the party can continue.
Good luck everyone with the hoop based wummery, I start from a base of knowing we're crap!

Been to Loftus Rd a couple of times to watch us play you.
Tatty old ground, but that for me is what stands out on an away day. Well that and the beer with your fellow away fans.
Enjoy Shepards Bush.
Hope to get there this season.
As for how you will do, well who knows.
Thats the beauty of football, we can all predict what will happen, but alot of the time, it doesn't go that way.

Still waiting for confirmation that QPR have signed Steven Caulker (good), Rio Ferdinand (bad?) and Ronaldinho ( ).

The fact he's slower than a snail & injury prone = Terrible signing

I think as a pair they are very good signings.

QPR will have to defend pretty bloody deep to facilitate Rio Ferdinand who, I imagine, is on fairly high wages.
Oh 'Arry, will you ever learn? (I'm also fairly surprised we haven't seen darling Arry do punditry for either BBC or ITV at this World Cup!)

Ha Ha CFC. You only wish that as we have the habit of taking points off you. It probably will be for 1 season, hence the title, but we can hope, even if you don't.
Hopefully Ferdinand (if it's done) is there to pass on knowledge as much as play. Was absolute class (OK some time ago), world of experience, knows how a big club sets up, prepares, trains etc. Would be invaluable to Caulker (if it's done).
'Arry is clearly out and about wheeling and a dealing* instead of punditifying

I look forward to the games really. QPR are the closest thing we have to a real nasty rivalry on the pitch.

I know, everyone needs a bit of spice in there, even if the football is often so goddamn awful!
Although, thinking about it we probably don't need spice to make our play awful...

Caulker and Ferdinand confirmed. Hopefully Ferdinand can pass on some good stuff to Caulker who is a pretty good talent with bags of potential.
A bit more solidity at the back and midfield and a smidgin of creativity then all we need is a £5m 20 goal a year striker of PL quality...
Only a few weeks to our first league stuffing.
Always sounds incredibly dodgy but,
Up the hoops.

THose that are there I think are:
Charlie Austin (total unknown at this level)
Bobby Zamora (If the ball hits your head and you're sat in row z, it's Zamora)
Loic Remy
Loic Remy
Loic Remy
Might be there, might not. Probably not!
And I know not what else. Rumoured to be looking at Siggurdson (somewhere in holland I think) and Troy Deeney at Watford both unknowns.
Struggle all over the park really, but up top doesn't have huge potential at the minute for goals.

Did anything ever come of that financial penalty the Championship was threatening with?

Not to the best of my knowledge (which is to be honest, pretty poor).
To be honest, we'd be more likely to get grants from help the aged for the work we do with the otherwise jobless elderly (Dunne, Ferdinand, Zamora, Andy Johnson last year, hell even Redknapp!).

I don't think the Championship can do anything about it as it's a PL decision now. Show's you that FFP is pretty toothless really.

Close to Jordan Mutch from Cardiff (hmm, they did go down quite easily in the end last season didn't they and we've got nearly 10% of that squad now...) That said, think he'll be quite good.
Close to Mauricio Isla, apparently a Chilean from Juve. Slightly odd in that Redknapp has gone on record to say he'll only sign players he knows. Maybe they share the same bank in Monte Carlo? Not read much about him but seems OK and (stereotype warning) the chileans do seem to put a lot of effort in, so might work in the prem.
Still looking around for 3 teams that will be worse than us.
Struggling to find them at the minute.
Getting keen now though, closer and closer. Been a long summer since the second round of group matches in Brazil...

There was a thing on the beeb a while ago indicating that us going up would cause a problem with the football league imposing any kind of fine. Can't remember much about it though.
Probably some kind of loophole that meant no-one considered a second flight team falling (so) foul of the FFP framework, if we did. Or maybe as we got promotion, our revenue immediately sprung up to cover the shortfall (by shortfall I mean SWP wages!)

Apparently you can still be subject to a fine (according to that article.) It's also a pretty good look at how FFP works and how it will favour the relegated teams.

That's the one DM.
The way I'm reading it is that it's a football league system that the football league clubs haven't yet agreed on how to operate.
As our financial year won't mirror the season and we bounced back, I'd guess that either the first parachute payment mitigates the paper losses or the revenue from promotion does and so the losses aren't as bad as the financials would portray if taken in isolation.
As an aside - the parachute payments you get for relegation. Do you still get them even if you bounce back? So say we were to get 60m over 4 years (?) but received 20 for the first year but came back up, do we still get the remaining 40m over the next 3 years regardless?

Redknapp in chasing former Spurs players shock.
But, Hoddle might be taking it a little too far?
Seriously though, might be a good call as a coach (and possible succession planning?) although thinking ahead not a strong suit around Loftus Road.

Up and running. Well, walking. OK, OK ambling.
Probably deserved a point but then the penalty shouldn't have been given so the miss is probably fair. As ever, if you don't score at this level you're in trouble. Thing is, Hull at home is definitely one of the games you should be looking to come away with 3 points from.
Still, Newcastle losing pushes us out of the bottom 3 and we're only 3 points off top...

Fer having medical apparently. Genuinely don't know so, is he actually any good? (I'm bound to get dispassionate, objective review on a forum aren't I...)
Possible signing of Vargas (of Chile at Napoli and been on loan at Valencia). Striker or winger apparently. Whooooo?

Fer is decent, nothing special but you need numbers in midfield playing in this formation. Mutch, Fer & Barton is not too bad. As for Vargas, good player in the WC, don't think he's prolific but can play across the front, either from the wings or as the lead striker.

Fer is blooming good, but only on his day. Often egg missing and second half of the season was injured as he couldn't handle no winter break

We'd be hard pushed to get anyone consistently good just coming up to the top flight. Mutch Fer & Barton doesn't look too bad on paper in that case tbh.
Saw Vargas was WC for Chile and (whilst not noticing individual performances) they seem to put a shift in as a team and were pretty good so anyone willing to put the work in down where we're likely to be in the league will be welcome. Don't think much of his goal return recently though.
Surprised we haven't stuck 8 - 10 in for for Jordan Rhodes at Blackburn. Last year 'Arry was saying we couldn't spend that much and he'd love him and they were rumoured to be willing to sell.

Man U away Sunday. Rio's return.
Hope he remembers to kick it towards De Gea and not the other way.
Watched Utd (on telly) a couple of years back at Loftus Road and we got battered. Should have been 10/11 could have been anything up to 15/20. Obviously things have moved on, but if the Utd front 5/6 fire, we'll get hammered.
Still, if we can hang on if might be a valuable point against a relegation rival...

That's a turnup for the books and no mistake.
Wasn't enamoured with the style of the first one, utter kick and blast, but good finish from Austin both times. Win's a win and there won't be too many of them...

Re: 9 months carrying a weight and all you've got left is a promising kid - The (probably temporary) QPR Premier League thread 2014/2015
QPR fans are stuck in some sort of purgatory. We know the club is relegated this season. We are just wanting for the summer and to finally get rid of the awful, awful Harry Redknapp.
Redknapp has done nothing in two years at the club to suggest he is good enough to get us out of this mess. He is clueless. You could blame the players and their attitudes but then Redknapp has molded this squad and he should be capable of coaching and motivating the team. He is obviously not.
Tony Fernandes has done wonders for the club in terms of infrastructure, youth development, training ground and new stadium but his instance on sticking with Redknapp is dooming this club. The fans are fed up. The club and chairman promised back in May that they wouldn't make the same mistakes but he we are with history repeating itself.
Big wages on old players like Rio Ferdinand. Loans signings who don't play like Zarate. Wasting money on injury prone players like Sandro. Buying relegated players like Caulker, Mutch, Fer (that never works). Talk of Berbatov, no thanks. Showing no interest on Pato, big mistake.

Big problem players wise is no-one would want to come anyway apart from these "type" of players. Austin the exception on type (and we picked him up last year in diff circumstances), but he was a gamble at this level he just happens to be paying off so far.
Harry hasn't been anything like as good as I'd have hoped, but, I think it's the structure of the club that has been the problem for decade(s?) now. Big plans on structure & infrastructure if the money boys hang around, but it's a 15 - 20 year project at best. Might as well get the academy prioritised and at least try to get a groundswell of players for 10 years time!
I'd stick with Redknapp though otherwise you have new boss + £95m of new, Poopie players on deadline day that won't gel and relegation anyway (not to mention FFP that we're possibly already screwed over). If we think we're going (and we pretty much do) then at least save that money and hope that something clicks. Besides, who would you have? Pulis is the big "keeper upper" and he's gone.
We're Poopie, but there are a few other teams that are Poopie. Problem there is that Pulis won't go down and Palace of Pardew might improve as well making the list of Poopie teams that much smaller.
Keep some hope. Don't forget we only have to finish top of a table of 4 though.

Tony Fernandes announces that he has got his "dream manager". With some of the names mentioned I can see it quickly turning into a nightmare.

Fernandes is a naive man, which isnt an unlikeable trait in a human by any means, but I'm not sure he realises that people don't get excited by his optimism

Sherwood out of the running, Laudrup reportedly never in the running.

Fernandes in "Dream Manager" back track shocker.
Discovers Busby, Shankley and Paisley all dead.
Chris Ramsey's 1 win in a row puts him 3rd in the list of QPR's best ever Premier League managers in recent memory and secures him an ignominious exit in May when Paulo di Canio is appointed for 3 days before leaving in a latin huff after slagging off the players and coaching staff when all of them have the audacity to ask him what the plan is.
Jeez.

Apparently Tim Sherwood and Sandro didn't get on at Spurs. Glad we didn't get Michael Laudrup. He has fallen out with the board at two of his last five clubs, sacked from another and apart from Brondby hasn't been an any club for more that 18 months.
It will be interesting to see how QPR, Aston Villa, Ramsey and Sherwood do until the end of the season. Surprised they didn't give Ramsey a longer contract. If he is only there until the end of the season the players don't really need to bother until the proper new coach comes in.

I didn't particularly want Sherwood, although I'm now reading he did a lot of great infrastructure work aligning the youth teams etc at Spurs. Maybe a ground up approach would benefit us and should be the long term strategy to slot in to the ground etc (I think it would). Unfortunately the here and now and survival (understandably) takes over everyone's thoughts and I don't think Sherwood would do that for us, even though Ramsey is a hot seat gamble of the first order as well.
Glad Laudrop was a no, but, I believe he's only said he's not leaving Qatar this year/season. Ramsey up at end of season might be too much of a coincidence.
As far as Sherwood not liking Sandro goes. All Sherwood would have had to do was never go to the physio suite, then they'd never have seen each other...

Fu**ing idiots throwing stuff at Chelsea players yesterday. Deplorable.
Devastating manner of defeat and undeserved IMO but come on, derby match or not, it's only a game of togger.
To the victors, the spoils, a "congratulations" from me and good luck for the run in. I hope we have the opportunity to avenge the defeat in the same league next year. Bet we don't though...

I would say au revoir but it may well be goodbye...

No, don't think so.
I suspect a bit of a hoo hah and an agreement. I assume something will be sorted out and it will be the Championship, but knowing QPR it could well be in the bottom tier of non-league!

Just some end of season notes. Tony Fernadnes is an utter fool. Chris Ramsey is far too tactically inept and way out of his depth as manager. He should never have been given a three year contract. I tweeted Tony Fernandes last week that it was a huge mistake and we would get thumped by Leicester by five or six.
We should have had a proper managerial search and at least looked at the likes of Mark Warburton and Gary Rowett.
Not sure Fernandes has learned anything in three years. Everything seems to be done on a whim with no consideration. He is a complete clown. A joke of a chairman. It is ok promoting youth but our youth academy/ players is far from being good enough.
