Wimbledon day 6 Thread
First topic message reminder :
Mikhail Kukushkin (KAZ) v Rafael Nadal (ESP) [2]
Santiago Giraldo (COL) v Roger Federer (SUI) [4]
Stan Wawrinka (SUI) [5] v Denis Istomin (UZB)
Milos Raonic (CAN) [8] v Lukasz Kubot (POL)
Jerzy Janowicz (POL) [15] v Tommy Robredo (ESP) [23]
Simone Bolelli (ITA) v Kei Nishikori (JPN) [10]
Nick Kyrgios (AUS) v Jiri Vesely (CZE)
Rohan Bopanna (IND) [8] Aisam Qureshi (PAK) [8] v Vasek Pospisil (CAN) Jack Sock (USA)
Interesting matches,
1]we wanna see what this kid Kyrgios upto after a great game against Gasquet, can he continue that? if he does he might get a date with Rafa.
2]Bolelli has the style of Fed, long time back I called him the poor man's Fed and I still stick to that, I don't think so Kei will have an easy match.
3]We have Roger , Rafa on centre court, may not be great opponents but these days does it really matter?
Finally we got a double match of an interesting pair of CANUS Pospisil and Jack SOCK .
Player of the tournament - Andy by a mile, great exhibition of skill, grass court play, aggression, groundies, serve, volley and running forehands, his aggressive running forehand last game was a treat to the eyes and he is playing better than 2012/2013.
Note: Coolers without smiley is very strange, I had to control my smiley buttons coz for some reason there is a bug in this forum which is loading the threads so slowly when a smiley is added, this wasn't an issue in the past, may be the mods and Admins can take the issue a bit more seriously, its now months since this issue is sorted out.

The time of Williams is almost over - Cornet leading 4-2* in this deciding set. I can't see Serena coming back from a defeat like this.

American journalists painting this as woeful from Serena. Cornet's obviously not playing the match of her life.

Cornet fails to serve out the match but provided Serena holds (no gimme at all), she'll get another chance. Alize leads *5-3 in the 3rd.

Wow .......can you imagine if that were to happen ........
The heady combination of a Wimbledon crown + those looks + self-assured (but pleasant) articulate manner in interviews would surely bring untold fame & riches .......

Realistic (honest)!! Grass is her best surface and she's already made 2 major SFs this year already, being rather unfortunate to lost out to Sharapova in Paris.

It would seem that there won't be too bad a backlog of matches on Monday now. Half of the men's matches scheduled today have been completed, two more should be completed today though it is unlikely the Wawrinka/Istomin and Lopez/Isner matches will be completed.

Janowicz claws a set back on a TB. A maximum of one more to play tonight you'd think so he may well be back next week.

Hmm not sure. If the fourth set only takes 30 or 40 minutes there is a chance they will finish tonight.

Ivanovic should be DQ'ed for refusing to play when the other player and the umpire want to.

Not yet much here at the moment, people are confused over split long weekend here, we have tuesday off compared to Monday, so in general Canada in Vacation mood , and Canadian media is nothing compared to British media, here Genie is seen as a normal next door girl, her TV interviews are so pleasing she indeed did some weather reports and stuff. We all love our little princess here but without much hype.
If she survives till Wednesday then I am pretty sure its gonna be gaaga goo about her here, coz people would be back from vacation.

I told you Kei won't have an easy match, Bolelli is exceptionally talented but a big time mental midget, he is the poor man's Fed which is not an ordinary title to have.

Perfectly understandable too, although I must confess that Ms Bouchard is occupying much of my attention these days.

It's very difficult for them to get permission to play on a Sunday. Wimby is in a built up area, with churches etc and it would require local council approval. They prefer not to disrupt the local community on the middle Sunday unless absolutely necessary.

I think they're just about ok for no rain on Monday and Tuesday next week anyway. The grass needs a day off apparently but I think it's more of a snobbery thing.

No, not snobbery. If you read Chris Gorringe's book you'll get a very good idea of the reasoning behind it.

Re: Wimbledon day 6 Thread
The scheduling has worked out really nicely for the top half. Not only did they start first, so were always going to have one extra day's rest during the tournament, but now the bottom half is messed up and players will have to play two - or even three - days in a row.
From the bottom half, Fed's scheduling is working out best. On Tuesday he will play Robredo who had to play a 5-setter today, and if he wins that, then he will play an opponent who will be on a Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 3-days-in-a-row schedule.
...unless they decide that is too much, and thus move Fed's QF (if he gets there) to Thursday, in which case his scheduling is not working out so well at all...
